Thanks for the tip. Luckily after many years in and around Shanghai, I am moving to Nanjing to work on a new multi-year project. I will report on any worthwhile adventures. (I did not monger per se in Shanghai due to a very satisfactory long term live-in situation).

Sure man, hit me up for nanjing, I basically do P4P exclusively there now. SH is still OK for dates, but sometimes you want to get served.

Tip: recently, the Dianping method by one members here (sorry I don't remember exactly who), which I also used to great effect, is leading to duds. A lot of Spas with 800-1000+ services menu, and pics of scantily clad masseuses, end up offering nothing. Trust me, I've straight up asked on wechat as well as tried and asked in person. Seems like a bunch of pretty girls learned how to make a quick buck. And the massages are worse than green.

Went on aishxxx and contacted a few handlers. I believe almost all the advertisements are ran by the same ring. The process was the same as a few years ago, I was given a bunch of photos with prices and location. Photos were all heavy edited. I ended up visiting a shop in Jingan hidden in a hotel. Had to contact the handler beforehand and mention his name to the guide. The rooms were fine. Private, had a bed and shower. The lineup was decent enough even though I stopped by late. The prices were inflated as expected. I picked an "S" class girl for 2. 6, 70 min /2, girl was cute but had implants, wasn't overly enthusiastic but it was after 2 AM. The next night I stopped by earlier around midnight at a different location on Chongqing nan lu. The location was a dump, lineup / lobby was next door to the bedroom. Picked a 2. 3 girl who was worse looking but better in bed, 70/2 but I took too long for a second go. Not great experiences overall but understandable given the climate. The same types of hotel shops in 2014/15 offered 90 min / unlimited nuru for 600-1 k, but I imagine there's still better value than what I got even among spas / huisuo.

Thinking of looking for independent / incall appointments but the same forum doesn't have many attractive listings. NLO is another option but I'm not staying at a hotel and don't want to deal with the hassle of booking a room and having to show identification. Also don't have a bank card / QQ / wechat so can't pay reservation fees. I just signed up for a subscription here and will have PM soon if anyone has tips. The handlers I contacted are all on the front page of the aishxxx forum. Don't have any great advice except that it's better imo to see lineups and find someone you like instead of booking outcalls based on photos which are never accurate.

Looking for help as an expat that speaks Chinese. The last time I was back at the end of 2014 a few folks here pointed me in the right direction. I started out with BBSes in the Jingan area and eventually found a Chinese spa forum that had contact info and reviews but has since been shut down. I would prefer the spa experience over all else. Prices last time were around 500-800 for FS. I'm currently staying in Pudong near the Nanpu bridge. Will most likely wander around to check out BBS / bars in the area first. Would appreciate any tips.

Last time you posted was 5 years ago, and since then, LOTS have changed. In fact, so much has changed that it would take me a couple of hours to catch you up. I think you should skim the forum, especially the last 2 years of posts. In short, most of what you're looking for no longer exists, or is risky.

I never used it because the photos on it look too much like Craiglist. Just like on Craiglist you have some of the legit girls advertising but the rest is more like bait and switch. And some have insane prices.

Agree with you on both points. But sometimes I like to roll the dice just for fun, but that said, I have regretted it over 90 percent of the time.

Had similar experience before but with agencies. They did require a name and room number so as to check if you were real and really in that room. They called the room to check. I was also worried about giving away a real name but then it went fine. Still I prefer those who do not ask such info and use these agencies on last resort.

I am also okay with giving my name to an agency, especially those that have a good reputation. For example, Kitty's in Beijing. After I give her my name and hotel on WeChat, then a few minutes later I'll get a call from her at my hotel room. But I would never give a random WG my name and room number. They have no reputation, and maybe also little to lose if they tried anything questionable.

Just so you know HJ is included in the price at both location. You only need to pay 200-300 RMB tips if you wan't to have more access (taking top or / and bottom for free roaming). No reason to pay 500 in madang, they are just used to more people wasting money and more tourists not knowing the market.

If you take a vip card you get 100 RMB off per each session (so 396 rmb). If you take a 5000 RMB card they have a promotion till the end of the month where you get +2000 rmb on your card so 7 k total and still 100 RMB off per hour.

I've recently been visiting Shanghai and trying out 2 locations of a well known massage chain, it's been mentioned plenty of times in the past here. I went 2 times to the Madang road branch and 2 times to the Jiangning road branch. In my experience the Jiangning road is much better, the girls I had were both much prettier (especially #72), the rooms had way more privacy (double doors) and the service felt better. At madang road both the negotiations for HJ started at 500, at Jiangning it started at 300, with #72 even assuming I wanted a BJ (which I don't).

At the Madang location, the boss or manager sometimes asked if you paid a tip when leaving, to make sure you got a HJ without tipping for the 500 rmb massage. So definitely don't tip unless you get more than a HJ.

Contacted someone named Candy, who had verified pictures. She immediately replied and said she could come immediately. So I said okay. She asked for my name and hotel room number. I asked her why, because we could just meet in the lobby. She replied that she wanted to make sure I was real with sincere intentions because she didn't want to waste the rmb by coming over and finding out that I stood her up. But I told her that telling her my room number and name was too much information. She then said to transfer 100 rmb to her, so that her taxi fare was guaranteed. I again said no, because then she would again know my identity. Then she said she's not interested and said bye.

Anyway, anyone with similar experience and did it go okay? Most indies usually know that being stood up is just part of the biz and don't mind wasting time and losing a taxi fare occasionally. They know we won't give away our personal information. This Candy person almost made me wonder if it was a sting of some kind. My guess is that YMMV, depending on the girl. But that said, I have to admit the prices are outrageous. Candy's price was 1500/ hour, which was a bargain compared to most others on there.
