This is the first time I am visiting SH.

I will be ina hotel at xuhui Shanghai.

The massage is probably legal, but prostitution is not.

If caught during a police raid, you could be fined for 5000RMB, imprisoned without trial (they call it administrative detainment) for two weeks, then expelled from China and any work-permit / VISA may be permanently revoked.

But ofcourse this is China we are talking about, so if they don't have serious quota considerations (it is rumored that LE always have to catch a foreigner behaving badly once in a while for political purposes) , it is possible to buy your way out of jail for a considerable sum of money and wipe your record clean, like a former colleague has experienced. Though that is determined by negotiation with corrupt officials and the sum can be significantly reduced if you have powerful local connections.

I suggest against trying out your luck in the legal process, because the Chinese legal system does not seem to believe in innocent until proven guilty and fruit of the poisonous tree. So you will almost always be going against an uphill battle.

Most of the larger sauna establishments probably pay a large protection fee to operate, so they can be presumed safe. If there is something wrong, the management will usually turn business away.

Since you will be staying in Xuhui, I would suggest you to try out 999 Sauna.
I don't know much about in-calls in Shanghai, but my experiences in Beijing is pretty much hit or miss, and it is usually on the missing side unfortunately.

I followed up on a couple of Xikang Lu's recommendations and wanted to give a quick report for you all.

1. Shanxi Bei Lu / Xinfeng Lu.

I would have to agree exactly with Mgp23's report, I thought No. 8 was a 7/10 at best and definitely around the 30 age bracket, had great tits though and allowed touching for 100rmb. Initially she said only over the bra but eventually she allowed me to lift up her bra and get a good feel. The massage & HJ were both very good, the room & shower also decent. All in all an ok place but not top of the pile.

Tried few days ago this place / girl. I was hopping for a BJ or FS but it looks like its not possible. After few reviews maybe I had my expectations too high and I did not like it very much. Price there is 258 with the VIP card (free) or 288 without it.

So I'm new to Shanghai and having read a bit of the forums, Saturday I decided to stop by the main club (Manhattan) and maybe go to other clubs. Basically, this club is just about like any of the other places I've been to with freelancers hanging around and watching the guys. Mostly viets it seemed, but quite a few other asian. Sorry, haven't stayed there for years, so I don't know the current status, but back in the day the bar in the basement (BATS) was a major area meat market (similar to Brix in SG) so there weren't any problems.
