i'll post my reports in a few days.
for a while sacrosa was the only place i knew of, so i went there several times. many times the girls are staring blankly at the ground and even seem annoyed when picked, but in the room their attitudes often completely change. i've had the worst looks in the lineup turn out to be funny giggly girls in the room. i don't really understand why, but it's been my experience none the less. your mileage may vary.

    Buy a white plate

I bet those guys were not military and the military fatigues were likely for marketing. Most military who want to sell military equipment probably sell those things off wholesale to some chump who in turn sells that stuff at flea markets rather than risk getting caught.

However, as it turns out, as far as military stuff goes, a year or two ago I read an article about how easy it is to buy a fake white military license plate. Apparently the sellers of these plates are fairly ballsy about it and at the time the article was written they were fairly open about it at flea markets. I forgot where I read it, sorry.

The article said apparently as far as enforcement goes, most local police don't mess with the military and vice versa, plus nobody has a database to keep track of how many and to whom special plates are issued to.

So if you swing some big brass balls, look and act like police or military, and drive around in a suitable SUV or expensive sedan, you can drive around as if you really are entitled to be a dickhead driver.

    Just don't get caught!

    M. A. B. May I add a new scam to the list! Driving in Pudong last month, waiting at a traffic light, I was approached by two young men wearing military fatigues (including hats, but no insignia) who pointed to a camouflage painted jeep across the road, where two more soldiers where holding up a pair of military style infra red binoculars, offering them for sale! I've since seen the team several times around Pudong. The jeep looked brand new, but again, no insignia. Possibly a student rag week stunt? In China?

That place sounds so far away from the fun.

There are a few saunas in the area, but all would require a ride.

Southern (Nangfang Sangna Hui Suo) Sauna Club might be the closest.

You could also try your luck at Yao Hong (originally known as Ji Yuan 3) , but I have no clue if they are still open.

Central Taiwan huh? Everyone seems to be really excited when they talk about Golden Jaguar in Taichung.

Here in Shanghai, Golden Jaguar is just a buffet. Sigh.

    Bi Li Hu Sauna-Gubei

In the Gubei area, I tried Bi Li Hu sauna, per the recommendation of another member. It's is located one block from the intersectionon Hongbaoshi Road and Gubei Road. Next to it are a Subway sandwich shop and 7-11. During theday, the fee is 630rmb.

Standard sauna routine. It's only has beds in the room, no wet room. Service from 883 was good but had a lot of rules.

It's good offering if you are in the Hongqiao area but not really worth it if you have to trek out there.

You are a regular member. Unless you've paid for your membership, you won't be able to send or receive pm.

I'm there for the kitchen and bathroom exhibition going on there at the New expo center.

Yesterday evening raid at Malones at about 23:30. All the Phil girls were taken out and have to show their passports. Also some guys sitting with girls had to fill in a kind of form.

Saunas: Been to 999 and Sacrosa. 999 will accept credit cards is about 30rmb cab ride from the hotel. Sacrosa is accessible via subway. Most saunas are about the same. Same service model, about the same price. Just need to get lucky with your choice.

Bars: Never been to Malones or Manhattans. But I imagine they are just like Orchard Towers in Singapore.

That being said, you shouldn't let anyone try and get you to go with them unless you are absolutely certain its police and they show you valid I'd which rarely happens anyways.

Given all the scams going on, its not too difficult to imagine a new one where you get shaken down by people posing as military or govt officials.

In fact, it is almost impossible that anyone from military would stop a foreigner because its not their protocol.

    Hope this helps.
I must confess, I didn't take these guys seriously, I assumed they were simply trying to sell cheap fake rubbish at a fancy price, (ever been offerred a "Cannon" camera outfit or "Nokio" phone!). The vehicle was definitely not an official vehicle, and they were also trying to talk to Chinese drivers. That said, there were four guys spending thier time on this, and using a seemingly brand new vehicle.

We are cautious of scams on foreigners, but we are not alone! In my experience Chinese people are very gullible, take a bus tour to anywhere to see the sales patter, be it tea, jade, or silk!

Atapchee you are 100% correct with Manhattan being identical to Ipanema. Except in Manhattan you realy really only have Viets and Flips. Occasionally a Thai or 2 and a few Cambos.

IMHO Manhattan not a patch on Ipanema. Malones is just a shithole IMHO. Old hagged ho's. Ok for a drink. Band good there. But never seen a decent WG in there EVER.

    Welcome to shanghai

Long term is Manhattan if you like pho or adobo.

999 is fish bowl, sacrosa is lineup like CP. I like both places but sacrosa has happy hour special, finish before 7 and it's less than 600 rmb.

There are a lot of bbs too, sometimes a fun way to play.

Shanghai is a great place. The bars and clubs are great places to hook up.

I'm going to Shanghai end of this month and would like to try all things that Taiwan doesn't have.

    Fishbowl, longtime, etc.

I'm only going to be there for 4 days and three nights. I'll be mostly available after regular working hours, I'm there for business.

For the fishbowl experience, which is better? Hai Lang? Sacrosa? 999? Golden 18? Bodi? All of your descriptions sound good. But which is most highly rated? Credit card accepted prefered with better facilities.

For longtime experience, do I have to go to Big Bamboo or Malones? Can I go to the saunas and take the girls back to my room? Do girls at the pink light areas do the same? BTW, where are the pink light areas? I know, RTFF, but I've been searching, can't get a clue.

Should I book a hotel in advance? Or should I just imrpovise as I get there? Which hotel is closest to these spots, recommended, and transportation is convenient?

Sorry if I ask too many questions at once. But if you guys come to Taiwan, I'll hook you up. But if you are a regular in Shanghai, my suggestion would be stay in Shanghai. Taiwan just ain't as great, yet."fingers crossed" for the future of Taiwan.
