Anyone checked them out yet? Several of the TRL bars have relocated there...in a variety of incarnations.

I checked out last weekend. I hate to say this, but I honestly have no idea where they were. I have the address in Chinese, which I can't read well enough. Wait, as I typed this I sms'd a bar owner there and here's the general address -- 926 Pudong Avenue (Yuan Shen Rd).

Anyway, the scene there is a bit different than TRL. More local Chinese, more tourists staying in hotels, and even some husband and wife combos. Definitely not as wild as TRL was. I will put in a plug however for Starlite bar. It's ludicrously expensive (like TRL, at least), but the owner is a friend of mine and she is a very good gal - nice person really. Furthermore, it is, or at least I suspect it is, a BJ or take out style bar. I've gotten that (and more) in her prior bar, and this bar is set up to be like that style (bring the girls to the second floor with stripper pole rooms). But be prepared to spend heavily and/or stay late to get to that stage of the bar action...not a cheap BBS or even a Julu lu bar by any means.

Only tried a couple other places there, and nothing going on. The big circular bar in the middle of the side street (you'll see it instantly) has hostesses that danced with customers and appeared to allow some mild groping, perhaps more, and had a good band (same band as at Luna, at least the night I went). Staff was good. Way too loud for me. Spent 5mil rmb on decoration, so think Xintiandi style bar. Prices pretty normal...ie not cheap but not like Starlite or TRL bars where they jack it up.

Overall feeling is this area certainly isn't worth a regular trip from Puxi, but it's ok if you are in Pudong near that area or want a different place for a night.

Went there yesterday. The location is nice, although now they are building something (new line of subway ?) there so the part of Pudong avenue is closed. There is no residential in near vicinity, only bars, restaurants and shops so this, if it develops properly, could survive.

The new bar ("THE OFFICE") is really very well done, I remember that place was empty for years (new but empty, waiting for someone to rent it), it is round building in a centre of a small square full of other bars. Nice to hang out, killer band playing every day but monday (best band I ever saw in bars).

I did not get if and how it works - they have waitressess in uniforms, quite young, I would hit most of them right away. Then they have girls on payroll in civil clothing, I talked with some of them, they are more like "drink girls" imho, one of them was cute she looked like she is willing to go but claimed she has menses so who knows. And also there are independents coming there, they should be more direct. Also she told me now because Chinese new year is comming there are less girls there but after that there will be lots of lots of them.

The central bar has two "open for public" floors, 2nd floor is an "arcade" so you can see to the stage on 1st floor and has pool table there. Then there is mysterious 3rd floor and allegedly even 4th floor where one of the girls told me there are "happy rooms" - but she might have been joking or maybe rooms for private parties, who knows.

At this small sqaure are also other smaller bars, also with some bar girls and some independents. Probably best approach would be to ask directly any bar girl if she could point you out which of the girl there is independent. Otherwise you might end up paying lots of tequilas and go hom alone.

Oh, also on this square is a massage/spa salon - "Massage for men" or something like that is written on it. Seems upscale (read expeansive), never tried to go inside though.

Anyway seems some new good location imight brewing there, will see how it pans out. It is not that far from Puxi (2-3km from Fuxing or Yanan tunnels = 2 minuts with a taxi), so even Pudongers might check it out.

There is a poll for the best bar for the hobby. I'm keeping track of the votes. So far, Maggie's in Beijing leads with 2 votes, followed by (uggh) Swing and a place in Dalian I don't know. There is no SH bar.

What exactly are these places, Manhattan and Judy's that I've heard vaguely mentioned throughout this forum? Are they saunas, bars or nightclubs? Do they have WGs? What's the average age of the patrons and girls (if any)?

Sorry to sound so clueless, I've been away for a week and have only seen a detailed reference to Manhattan by Laowei.

1) the 'industry' is too big to shut down entirely
2) any highly visible enterprises (BBS and the like) will probably be 'encouraged' to take a hiatus

Hi everybody,

Time to make a contribution.

After reading about this place from this board I decided to visit.

Address: No. 777 Siping Road/Lu in Puxi District, Shanghai

Lots of construction right now. But just tell your hotel to give the driver directions. There's a restaurant right beside it and it is on the corner of the block on the 3rd floor. It has it's own separate entrance and it is very discreet.

600 RMB for 70. 90 minutes.

Here is how it works:

Go up the elevator. The manager greets you. Ask for Bob Liu, he speaks some English. I'm asian and can speak mandarin so no problems for me.

They first take you to a room (#21), this room contains about 8 lounge chairs and a locker area. He will give you a locker and a bag to store your valuables. The locker is opened by an wristband that you get PLUS it must also be opened by a member of the staff. Pretty good security IMHO as there are customers also waiting so I actually felt quite safe. You are given a robe and then after your done changing, they lead you to shower and hot tub area. You get a small locker and a second wristband to keep valuables as you shower and/or use hot tub. When you are ready, they give you a towell and a dispoalbe pair of shorts. Then, you are led back to the locker/lounge chair room where they serve you some fruits and some tea. You can watch tv or smoke and when you are ready for a girl, you press one of the buttons on the wall that say service.

The guy will come in and he will lead you to another room where there are 2 or 3 girls. The first time, the 2 that I got were ugly so I passed and told him that I would wait for the next one. I waited another 20 minutes and then was led to another room where 1 girl was there. # 205. Overall, she was a 7 on looks but a small tight spinner body with a butterfly tatoo on her back.

Leasds me to the room. They turn lights low so you can't really see the girl. Anyways, I get the standard hot and cold BBBJ. But I watched as she washed her mouth with mouthwash and didn't let her linger too long. She then wanted to straddle me with no protection and I said, no, let's put on cover first.

Did a couple of positions and I came quite quickly in missionary.

Basically, you can come all you want for 70. 90 minutes (not sure if it includes the time waiting) In fact, I was runnign short on time and had to run after my one shot and she was so shocked that I was leaving. She was saying that she hadn't FA QUAN (orgasm) yet. And wouldn't really let me go.

I did a bit of prospecting last night, and I agree with previous posters that absolute numbers seem to be down on last year, both in Judy's and Manhattan. Maybe it will just take a while for things to settle down. Still, around midnight the female/male ratio at Manhattan for instance was definitely around 2:1.

On the other hand, I actually thought that the talent level was probably better than before. Maybe it's just a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder. I also realise that the fact that I had a hard time choosing between 3 girls I really fancied may have coloured my overall judgement.

Was there last Sat night, but didn't arrive until after 1am. In short, it was pretty similar to before in layout and turnout, but somehow just didn't feel the same. A few main differences (some not that different):

1. No other bars around it to troll through and get warmed up at, or even just catch some eye candy. Manhattan is now a destination rather than an option for those who were in other bars before.

2. Horrible guy-to-girl ratio. I'd say there were 3 guys for every girl. And somehow this bar attracts very large guys who, when drunk, knock people and things around (I don't mean intentionally). Anyway, kind of annoying scene unless you're already drunk I suppose.

3. Did really see any more private areas and the whole place felt a bit congested to me.

4. Bathroom was kind of a mess, both to get to and to use. Not horrible, but not very good either.

5. Seems like more of the older girls there. Saw a few cute Viets and several Flippers, of varying quality looks on the somewhat low side. Not many Chinese girls, and those that were there were veterans.

Plus side:

A. One of the dancers was hot.

B. Still has girls.

C. Was open late.

I suppose it'll work out fine, but it's really the only place there, and the potential for walk of shame (or worse) being near The Spot and Big Bamboo is a bit discomforting.

That's my 2 kuai, based on one visit.

I wonder if it's the 505 I seem to recall having about a year back. I was so overwhelmed by her beauty and perfect body that the non-GFE experience was compensated for to the point that I would have still gotten her again. Your description to me sounds like a disappointment, too:
- no kissing
- no A/R
- obviously soso bj
- bad fj
- no gfe

...and knowing what you can get in China for some kuai more (or even less) I think we should give negative feedback!!!

I think that such kind of girl does not even know what some others do and what is possible. For that reason I started to give them my feedback and also to inform the managenment if possible, at least I leave earlier in order to show my unhappiness.

I would suggest to all of us to do so...

Reckon the bar is pretty low for me, so even a so-so 'performance' is sufficient. Kinda like what we say about pizza (bad pizza is better than no pizza).
