Thanks & a Token of Appreciation

To those responding about China Firewall, many thanks! It is really driving me (and l am sure a score of others) crazy. In appreciiation, on my most recent trip to Shanghai, my colleague took me to Paris Spa & Sauna several times. Can't remember the street name but it is off the Huaihai Rd. As you go west on Huaihai Rd from Xizhang Rd, turn left on one of the cross streets. Tips: Saizeriya is directly across from the sauna. Conveniently located in downtown @RMB680. Enjoy!

My friends in Shanghai also confirmed that there's been LE pressure on their regular saunas.

One of my mamasan friends who works at a naked KTV told me her naked KTV got shut down by LE a few weeks ago too!

Anyone know what's going on with this cleanup in Shanghai? I originally thought it had something to do with the F1 weekend and International Auto Show, but maybe it's a longer-term cleanup prior to the Shanghai Expo?
Look like no more fun in Shanghai, sad.

Will be coming to Shangahi next week, possible to PM me the name & address and also the mamasan's contact?

    Thank you

Definitely VPN (rented) is the way to go for anyone spending any significant amount of time in China. Huge advantages over proxies, and more stable.

I've had good luck with this one: https://www.personalvpn.com

    Dovetail,

Most of the proxies I use work for awhile and then stop. Some will start to work again and then stop again. I am not a tech expert but I think that the IPs that the proxies generate get blocked until a new set are generated. I also noted that some work in some parts of China and not others. For example, turbohide.com stopped working for me in South while it was still working in Beijing.

Best solution seems to be to invest in a private VPN if you are going to spend a lot of time in China. Prices start at 39.99 per year.

    Just my POV.

    Try this one:

it worked some 6 weeks ago in Shangai
Bit tricky when you want to log in as a memeber as sometimes it does not catch...but al in all satisfying for the purpose.

    www.proxify.com

It's a paid subscription, but works well.

Use the url's from the member section as the main one gets blocked.

Davidoff Lite has uncovered a great find and thanks for sharing.I am amazed and wonder how the hell you found this area. I know the city very well and I am impressed.

It is far from the French Concession, Channing, Jingan, Xujiahui, People's Square; the center city but not too far. Definitely worth the trip for anyone who likes BBS and a huge selection of fine young, did I say young, ladies. I feel like I went back in time. I didn't know these types of blocks still exit in Shanghai.

Thanks so much for the great tip.

    Shanghai Sauna

Yes, I went by a couple of days ago and the place was shut down due to "re-modeling". Puzzelzing since a couple of the massage palours around the neighborhood were open for business as usual. There are two place by the hilton, down the street where one parks. One is clearly a brothel, with touts in front. The other, which I patronized, appeared to be legit. As least for the four visits . I visited as they offered an hour of foot massage for 68 rmb.

One night as I went for my massage a very cute mammasan tried to hustle me to go to her place with many pretty girls. I counteroffered to take her back to my hotel, which she declined. Definitely would have done her.

Made a few calls to Craigslist erotic services. Note that it remains since LE does not bother with such ads. Many offers of 200 rmb/hr massages. Don't bother if you are really seeking an independent.

Thanks for all the useful information on this site. Takes some time to read through it but it is worthwhile.

I found some info on 3 sauna's in old postings but no mention of it in recent ones.

    They are:

Bo Dou on Xietu Lu/ Luban Lu
    Tin Hao on GuMei Lu
    Sang Na on Songshan Lu

Does anyone know if they are still operating. I want to check them out next month but if they are closed it saves me the trip. If they are still open I will let you know how it was.
