If you don't speak English how are you going to communicate with people in China. Communication in English in China is bad enough and any language other than Chinese is almost nil. From your handle, Paris12, I think you speak French or you are LE. English in China is limited including the girls because most of girls come from a poor background with low education.

I was in Shanghai for a few days early this month, and went to my favourite place, the Shanghai Hotel sauna, on a Monday evening shortly after 7pm. It was a great disappointment. Subsequently, a friend of mine told me that by May 15 the sauna was closed down completely.

For my visit in early May, there were four big problems:

1). There was no soapy bath, or the wet massage, as the girls called it. The excuse given was that the soapy bathrooms (one floor below the dry massage floor, where the entrance is located) were being refurbished. But when I was heading for the “fishbowl,” I passed by the staircase leading to the wet massage section and it seemed quite normal with me. Anyway, I preferred to have a soapy bath and almost wanted to walk out when told it was not available.

2). Few girls were available, and the quality was poor. When I got to the “fishbowl” (actually I was in the same room as the girls, looking at them face to face), there were only 6-7 girls around. Renaissance Hotels:

Since there aren’t many references to the Renaissance hotels on this thread and I have to stay at a Renaissance during my trip to Shanghai, could anyone familiar with these hotels recommend one over the others?

My choices are

Renaissance Shanghai Zhongshan Park Hotel
Renaissance Shanghai Yuyuan Hotel
Renaissance Shanghai Pudong Hotel

While the availability of surrounding, in-hotel and in-room services are considerations, they are not the only ones; I am also interested in proximity to interesting parts of town, walkability, relative safety, etc.

Any feedback would greatly be appreciated.
