I wonder what is the 'age' that you are referring to?

I certainly can see no reason for ensuring that your SYT is 28, 38 or whatever 'wide margin' you choose to select.

Prostitution is illegal in China, and there are 2 possible charges for being caught with a SYT WG:
    (1) being with a prostitute.
    (2) being with an [CodeWord902] prostitute (that is, under 14 years of age).

As far as Chinese LE are concerned they could not care less if the WG you have been caught with was 18,28 or 88!

WRT to freebies, Chinese LE are only concerned if your SYT is of Chinese legal age (again 14). But of course if they want to get you, they will get you whether your SYT is 18,28 or 88. But they have no reason to "get you", unless you are in their sights for other reasons.

Older guys with SYTs are a very common sight in SZ (many of them HKers with their SZ ernai). Unless you draw attention to yourself by some other manner, SZ people are not going to pay any attention to you (I am 41 years older than my SYT, and do not experience any unwanted attention in SZ).

But, remember that a Chinese girl who says she is 18, may only be 17 by the Western method of counting age. If they say they are 18, be careful and if possible always check their ID card. If (through no fault of yours), you are caught with a WG who is one year [CodeWord902] by your country's law (but not [CodeWord902] by China's laws), the question is then, would LE contact your embassy / consul and inform them of the situation? I suspect that this would be extremely unlikely for a variety of reasons. But as always, be alert and ensure that you conform to your country's laws! But there is no reason to have a 'wide margin'.

    Learning Putonghua

    Hi John,

Putonghua is the way to go because this is standard Mandarin so understood very widely throughout China. Pronounciation is very important in spoken Chinese so I suggest a good one-to-one teacher will be good value in the long run. You will find most WGs, and other Chinese people, are delighted if you as a foreigner can speak a bit of Chinese and most will help you. Do not expect to gain fluency quickly but with hard work on your part you will soon reach a basic level ability. The reward is that it is a fun language to learn!

    Good luck!

I fully intend to learn Putonghua. Sorry I failed to make that clear. The confusion was caused by my reference to local idioms and dialects.

My dilemma is that I do not have a great ear for languages, and suspect that watching internet video lessons will not cut it for me. And pillow lessons would probably end up with the SYT getting irritated by my ineptitude, and consequent loss of benefits. Additionally, I understand that many idioms are very localized. Would an innocent SYT really know the local idioms and euphemisms used in mongering?

    Any other thoughts?

What about Chinese-English meeting sites where you can meet Chinese who want to practice their English?

What about one on one lessons (expensive but may be cost-effective)?

    Thanks,

    TinkerJ

Ikksman beat me to it. Pretty much 3 weeks ago Shenzhen tv secretly filmed at a hotel at Danshui, so KO took action at 25th. (Dongguan got trashed the same way. Got filmed on news TV). At the moment I would suggest holding off for a while as this is extremely risky.

Also, a major BJ establishment in Lohu was also shown on news channel recently. For the time being it is better to spend at Hong Kong / Macau.

Be Careful - FS Saunas Are Being Raided

Nobody seems to read the Huizhou forum any more so I have posted this warning here.

    http://mp.weixin.qq.com/s?__biz=MjM5...installed=0#rd

This sauna is in a 3 star hotel in Danshui (easily accessible from SZ). It is a sauna mainly frequented by locals and shows that LE have been instructed to (gradually?) shut saunas.

Coincidentally, there are newly opened saunas in two 4/5 star hotels in Danshui, which are also home to KTVs popular with Singaporean and Malaysian mongerers. Apparently, the FS sauna sets are only available 'in room'. It will be interesting to see how long they remain operational.

Or perhaps the writer deliberately labelled our Lad as a "troll"? But who knows, unless the question is raised!

Using the word "inciteful" when "insightful" was the intended meaning.

Learning Guangdong hua or putong hua?

My work may have me going down to Shenzhen from time to time, so I am trying to get the lay of the land from the Shenzhen threads.

From what I understand, a lot of the residents in the city are from other provinces who go there to find work, so many more (most?) people speak putong hua (Mandarin) even when the city is in Guangdong. In Guangzhou you can get by if you can only speak Guangdong hua. But putong hua is the official national language. So if you have to learn one, I would strongly suggest putong hua (and in case you may spend some time in other cities).

I have read the last few pages here, and I discern a certain 'life experience' and wisdom in the posts of one member here (Ikksman). But my question today is "What is the best approach to learn the Chinese language for a resident of Guangdong province?" Specifically, a method that will help me learn the local idioms (and in particular those used in mongering). I fear that after furiously studying the language for months and months I will still be unable to communicate in the local dens of iniquity.

I have spoken to many local laowai who have attempted to learn Chinese. The few that have progressed past the usual 5 words, state that they still cannot understand the locals who seem to mix Putonghua with local dialects and they have a lot of difficulty understand either CCTV or the local TV.

I would appreciate suggestions from members who have been down this road.

Would it be appropriate to re-post my language help request on the General Forum?
Do you want to learn Guangdong hua? Or do you want to learn putong hua? (in other words do you want to learn the native language of your province, or do you want to learn the more general "common" hua?

If you want to learn any language (or any dialect) then. In my humble opinion. There is no substitute for "total immersion".

As well, supplement your "total immersion" with "pillow talk" - find a local hottie who can teach you the local dialogue, and before you fall asleep, or straight after "bible study" have her explain to you all all the local idioms.

    Works wonderfully well, EVERY time.

    Just my experience.

    Enjoy and report.

I forgot to add a 4th category: divorced girls with daughters (the kid is often looked after by the parents in the hometown).

There are so many SYTs in the PRD (the largest urban area in the world), and (relatively speaking), so few eligible or interested guys that freebie fans with even a little bit of game can be extraordinarily successful. Were you aware that in the late 90s and early 00s in SZ, the ratio of young single 17-24 girls to guys was estimated to be 8:1? Current estimates are still about 3:1 (as factories employed more young guys from the rural areas). The only downside is that the top of the line models get taken as mistresses by the really rich Chinese. Still plenty left for the rest of us!

Is Shenzhen a worthwhile mongering destination?

For those who criticise my comments that SZ is no longer a good mongering destination and is "dead", read this post:
    http://www.internationalsexguide.inf...=1#post1679330

And OAH's follow up response here:
    http://www.internationalsexguide.inf...=1#post1679759

Basically, for the western foreign visitor or tourist there are now only a few SZ very limited cun destinations (plus of course expensive outcall/escort services) where FS is readily available, non-existent FS sauna/footsie/massage and the cost of living has increased dramatically for foreigners in SZ.

Now compare the current SZ status to the Philippines (such as Manila and Angeles City). Why would you select SZ for a mongering holiday?

On the other hand, IMNSHO and limited experience, there is nowhere that can compare to the Pearl River Delta for SYT freebies, 30+ "left over women" and neglected married ladies.

Sure the hotel might have Crap breakfast or the amenities might not be as nice but local guys that want to Fuk their KTV girl after a drunken night are not concerned about that.
    Hi Stinky,

I understand what you are write. Rules that are normally unenforced can be used, and, I emphasise that there is no rule of law in China. So we need to be sensible. But I question the need to stay at 3 star hotels. I think 4 and (Chinese) 5 star hotels are fine! IMO, the only problem with international 5 star hotels is that some of them may refuse entry to WGs late at night (or unaccompanied WGs at any time). On the other hand there are 5 star hotels that allow WGs to operate in their foyer/coffee lounge and upstairs bars!

When was the last time a foreigner was taken away by LE from an international 5 star hotel (or even a Chinese 5 star) for no other reason than he was with a supposed WG (but I remember a case where drugs were involved)? Has this even happened in SZ in the last 10 years? I am, of course, discounting instances (like the recent case with anti-graft campaigner Ou Shaokun) where LE personnel frame or set up a person for other reasons. Remember there is no rule of law!

    Ikks.
