Please appreciate that 600/3000/5000 pricing is typical of the high end clubs operating in China. These clubs are for the very wealthy. I am aware that the #8 KTV in Beijing had pricing of 1000/2500/5000 some 2 years ago.

Diamond KTV has probably had similar pricing for the past few years. It is not an average SZ KTV and the price has not suddenly jumped because of the crackdown.

There are clubs for the very wealthy and clubs for the rest of us.

I think that Diamond KTV has always been the most expensive KTV in Shenzhen and its pricing is not indicative of typical KTVs in SZ. 600/3000/5000 is only for the very wealthy, and has probably always been at or near these stratospheric levels. Unfortunately I have no idea of which KTVs currently offer takeout or there pricing structures. In fact I have not read of CP type pricing structure in the SZ forum.

So I had one last day in SZ and thought I'd have some fun, but it didn't go as planned due to delayed flights, a torrential downpour and a much quieter scene then the week before.

I tried the Xiang Xi Cun as reccomended by Ikksman, and the first time I did see a couple of guys and 4 not so great looking women, it was early, so I thought I'd try later. I was horny, so I walked back to the apartments behind Shangrila. As I got there it started to rain, and hard! I took cover in an alcove, and was acosted by a mama. No one appeared, we then tried another flat. Still nothing.

They are moving all the time in the back alleys, going back and forward and in circles, there is surveillance cameras on the streets, I saw that they take the interested customers in some more secluded corner to negotiate.

I could not really make contact with the ones I was interested in so I got back to the more "touristic" RLD near the Shangri-La and got a girl back to my hotel for 400 Rmb for 2 hrs after discussing the price for a while.

Girl was a 6 , she gave did her best, but sent her back after 1,5 hrs and 2,5 pops.

And called it a night.

I sincerely suggest you learn a few Chinese words and phrases (from the thread of the same name here).

Surveillance is becoming ever more pervasive in China. Maybe the girls have learnt that there is surveillance software that alerts operators when individuals, or groups of people, linger in one spot too long One of many automatic recognition functions available these days (others include people entering specific areas or zones, leaving objects unattended, violent acts, gunshot detection, tracking specific persons, etc etc).

I believe where you describe is known to us old timers as Seibu BBS. Is the Seibu Department Store still there on the corner? It has been awhile since I have mongered there but I do remember the area with fond memories. In the day, it used to be wide open with girls hanging out of the shops. Last time I was there, most of the shops were closed but there were plenty of touts around selling their wares albeit at higher prices to include their margin. Is it worth a visit now? How does it work?

OAH, I am not sure if you are just joshing me! I am pretty sure that you know that the Seibu Department Store closed in either 2009 or 2010, and that the Cun shops (the Seibu BBS) were mostly closed by the end or 2010. Apparently they never re-opened in numbers after a big crackdown around that time. Surely you have driven around that area since 2010!

I have posted here a number of times that I am mainly a freebie fan, and am not a frequent P4 Per. I have been to the village maybe 20 times and participated about 8 times over about 4 years.

The first time I visited XiangXiCun was, I think, late 2010 and at that time there were a few shops open, but no girls hanging out of them (rather subdued actually). I am unaware if there was activity in other parts of the village that have since been knocked down. The last time that I was there was before CNY this year. I have recently been tied up in relationships and travel commitments.

A few years ago, there were times when numbers of SYTs (maybe 15 or so) have been in the alleys in the afternoons, but none in the evening, between say 8-12 (maybe more in the early morning). During the afternoons they often sat at the intersections of the very dark alleys. But mostly papas and some mamas were there to take you to see the girls. A few times the girls were in shops behind closed doors, but mostly, up the stairs. A few times there were 3 or 4 girls in the rooms. If you rejected them all, then you would have to go down to the alleys again. No more were brought to you in the room!

As a foreigner, they usually asked 300ST and 500 back at your hotel. Usually negotiated to half those prices. I never had much luck trying to negotiate BBJ etc, even when I was able to communicate in tortured Chinese. Quality was always a bit hit or miss, but IMO generally much better than the other well known haunts talked about here.

Is it worth it? Up to you! But it is the only place that I know where you can readily get takeout.

Use Google maps to locate Panglin Hotel. However, be aware it is notoriously inaccurate and confusing, and you are just as likely to find that parts of Luohu are in HK, or at least in the middle of the mud pool separating the two. Or, you can try and follow my directions below for travel via subway or taxi.

Subway

Go to Guomao MTR and exit to Jiabin Rd via Exit be. If you can see a rail overpass (and Petrel Hotel), you are facing the wrong way. Walk 2 blocks (east) along Jiabin Rd until you reach the Panglin Hotel. It is a distinctive landmark (see a photo below taken from apartments next to Perthden Hotel / Shenzhen station).

Taxi

Ask taxi driver to take you to the Panglin Hotel.

If he is still totally confused after your pathetic attempts at pronunciation (LOL), try saying:

Standing on Jiabin Rd with the Panglin Hotel on your left and the Sunshine Hotel on your right (the name is written in English), advance along Jiabin Rd about 100 m, until you see a big green and white hospital sign on your right (Nanhu Community Hospital?

On your left will be a small street blocked to cars with 3 or 4 thick bollards. This is the entry to the village. Ignore any touts in the street. Enter the small alleys on the right hand side (pass 2 or 3 first to save time) and you are in ground zero.
