OK OK, no offense to the bros who are in love with Pinays. Just my personal preferences.

If these Chinese girls can speak just a little English to communicate like Pinays, life would be so much sweeter.

We entrust this important job to English teachers in China, whenever they are not too busy screwing their sweet young students.
I am not going to disagree with you. You obviously like the slim spinners like me (a GF pic is below).

Yes, Shenzhen is a great place. There is anecdotal evidence that, in Shenzhen, the ratio of single girls to guys (between 18 and 23) is 3. 5 to 1. Apparently, the ratio used to be more than 6 to 1. And, this is quite believable. If you stand outside a large factory, such as Foxconn in Longhua, and watch the streams of pretty young things flooding along the roads at the end of a shift, you can see the imbalance between the sexes.

It is my experience that students come out of middle school able to read and write English (enough to pass their examinations). But, they cannot communicate orally in English. They are not taught to speak English. We need to teach them to improve all their oral skills! Haha!

There is a huge glass wall facing the street for the sole purpose of seeing the girls there. I have never seen this is Shen Zhen. But, when I was in Shang Hai these places were everywhere. Usually you would see about 5 or 6 of them in a row. All separate stores but right next to each other. Fast Eddie I don't know your China experience but these places are common. I have never been to Amsterdam but it is similar to that only the girls are dress in nice evening dressing or plain clothes.
Tom, On February 1, you reported that you had only been to China 4 times!

Fast Eddie is an "elder statesman" of this forum with incredible knowledge of China mongering and probably 2, 000 posts in the China threads over many years.

    Enough said!

I have walked past a Golden Lustre hotel in Luohu many times, not sure if there is one in Futian.

Many buildings have 2 lions at the front (the most famous is the HSBC Head Office in Hong Kong). I am not sure of the significance.

The haunted apartment complex is in Futian near the Shenzhen Metro building, the Shenzhen Civic Centre (with the famous blue wavy roof) , and Children's Palace (Shao Nian Gong).

    Cheers

    Hi,

Unfortunately, those may be a relic of the past. But all is not lost. Every Village has a street with these girls, but you have to know how to find it. Find a scooter taxi, and ask him to take you to the Red Light District, pay 5rmb to take you there. In Chinese,"Hong Deng Lu". Once there, walk around looking interested. A tout will come up and bring you to a room with girls to choose from. She will take you to a room nearby. Pay after. 150rmb. Simple. Shannxi Village, Shia Zui Village, HuBei Village, all the same. Yes, I miss the fishbowls at Wuxzhong Lu in Shanghai and the BBSs in Shia Zui, even 588 in Seoul, but those days are long gone. Better to forget them and deal with the situation now.

We clicked and she agreed to come to the hotel which I had thoughtfully booked for the occasion.

We decided to walk to the hotel as it was only about 10 minutes away along Fuzhong 1st Road. As we neared the hotel, this lovely young girl grabbed my arm and refused to go any further, insisting that there were ghosts in the building. She absolutely refused to walk one step closer! I gave up and took her to my apartment, and partook of a very pleasant session, in part due to her still being frightened and shaking by the 'close brush' with spirits!

A little investigation revealed that the reddish coloured apartment complex (the Lotus Hotel is one of the buildings in the complex) was in fact infamous for being haunted. The most common phenomenon was the elevators continuously going up and down by themselves. Apparently, the unusual colour and shape of the buildings was a feng shui solution. And until recently, rentals in the apartment building were considerably cheaper than other apartments in the area.

A number of people agreed that the building were indeed haunted, but did not agree on the reasons. The most supported story is that the area, which was originally on a small hill, had been a Japanese Internment or prisoner of war camp during WWII. They supposedly beheaded thousands of Chinese prisoners there. The camp was in an area by the corner of Hongli West Road and Caitian Road.

Maybe a good strategy to use in the future is to weaken girls' resistance by taking them to a haunted hotel (haha).

Most posters here referred to Sandy Lip or Sandy Point as the translation. But I have heard of Heavens Gate, and wonder if it is the same place.

I also wonder if Sha Wan is worth an exploratory visit these days?

Do you mean in Shanghai you found shops where you could view girls from behind one-way glass? If so, were these shops MP / Sauna / Spa places? I am aware that "fishbowls" are more common in Shanghai saunas than Shenzhen.

    Please explain more fully.

I think these days, the hotels have to send the photocopies to the Police, whom I suspect, do nothing with them unless they are looking for someone.

The hotels also need to record the date of last entry into China. I recall many wasted minutes as the receptionist tries to find the latest stamp among a 100 or so China entry stamps in a 69 page passport (the only disadvantage of living near HK!).

The only real problem that I have encountered is that foreigners are often refused accommodation in low-end hotels and guest houses. This occurred once in Lijiang, even though the guest house was new, and the area was a tourist one. Apparently, permits are issued allowing foreigners to stay at a premises, but they are not granted to 2 star hotels and guest houses.

I have also many times stayed overnight at hotels in the same Police district as my Temporary Residence Registration. Nothing ever resulted.

And, on the bottom of the Form it states that "For your safety, we should (sic) like to suggest you to live in 5 star hotels of modern communities with advanced security equipments".

    Cheers
