Coming back to Hong Kong after almost a decade and I am sure things must have changed a lot.

I am landing in HK on a Sunday afternoon and head out on Monday.

Would be glad if you could suggest places to hang out on Sunday aft and evening.

Not sure hows the night life on a Sunday night.

In hk the 141 walk ups are good for layovers but that's not going to occupy much time. Do you have lounge access at hk anywhere? If so you can hit bars and 141 walk ups until your bored and then go back to the airport lounge and sleep. Otherwise go to Macau and take the shuttle for mgm or star world for familia noble. Or the rio shuttle for rio.

If the airport to Macao ferry schedule time works do that. But you can take the airport train and ferries are constant from downtown.

If it were me on only 12 hours I would go into hk. Hit a walk up 141 building like Fuji. Do 1 round. Then get some food and drinks and hit up another walk up. Then go back to airport lounge and rest until my flight.

Hello to all. I have a 12 hour layover. I land at 8:00 pm on Halloween night. I fly out at 8:00 am the next morning. I was wondering if I should get a hotel for the night or try to take a fairy to Macau and check out a sauna. Any and all thoughts are welcome.

I had a similar problem where I hadn't nailed down the China portion of my trip but needed to take care of the visa. Just make reservations that are refundable. Do the visa and then cancel them and do the ones you need.

I've haven't been to China for over 15 years, prior I would stay in H. K. Family members would take me on the train and we would get a visa at the border it was pretty quick and easy as I remember.

I need to plan a short trip to Guanzhou with my brother and Thai wife but would like to go to HK and meet up with a family member to take us in. Doing research I see one should get a Visa first, which make sense because I don't want to waste a day in HK doing so. I notice from the Visa website if I do it ahead at a China Embassy in USA Or Bangkok got to have flight book and hotel for them to consider the Visa Request. The problem not sure of exact dates want to get Visa first and then make the plans as noted want to go HK first, a day later into Guanzhou and stay 2 days then back to HK. Based on my plans can one just get a Visa at the border?

I also research HK from Hung Hom station a train to Guanzhou 2 to 3 hours and sometime in September if I read it right a new Bullet Train service that would only take 30-45 minutes?

Any help idea would be appreciated thanks in advance!

A travel agent did it in for me in US for a small fee without any advance reservation. It took about 4 working days. It is easier because I don't have to make two trips to the embassy.

I had not been to HK in about 4 years so I looked forward to the always fun Sunday afternoon in Wanchai. After walking around a bit I noticed that Neptune 3 either closed or I just couldn't find it. The bar that looked the liveliest was the Queen Victoria on Lockhart. Went in around 3:30 and it was packed. I set my sights on an Indo DH who was very hot. Unfortunately for me, she was up for Ms. Queen Victoria (contest the following Sunday) and had to stay at the pub for a 5:00 pre contest show. By the time that was through, it was too close to her curfew of 7:00 so I got shut out. Looking back, there were many, many suitable DHs but I was set on this one. Looking forward to my next trip, hopefully not 4 years from now. Though it's changed some, Wanchai is still a great place to monger IMHO.

All hotels in HKG are girl-friendly, without exception. Suggest you just look at Tripadvisor or similar to find a hotel in your price range and in the area you want to stay.

This was the start of a 2 week trip for me and I was anxious to get rolling. I was flying on a points ticket and had a wonderfully luxurious ride from New York to HK in first class. If you ever have the opportunity it really is an amazing travel experience, I honestly never wanted to get off the plane. Unfortunately, when I booked the only flight from HK to BKK I could get was in economy at 16:00 and despite my best efforts and charm I was unable to get cathay to put me on an earlier flight so that left me with 11 hours to kill in HK. I often spend some time in HK before heading to macao so the time wasn't an issue for me but of course mornings are not a good time for mongering anywhere..

Tiny waists. Can you please share some addresses of walk-ups in Sham Shui Po? Thank you!
