Was going to have a quiet night on Wednesday as the dreaded work kept me late and I'm still recovering from the escapades over the weekend. Old age does not come easy.

Looking through my HK phone, I remembered my massage girl who I have seen for years now and thought "Why not". Sure enough she joins me 20 minutes later. I'm done in again after her visit. Forgot to ask if she still does a massage now and again.

Keen to hit the streets on Thursday night purely for research purposes. That's two days now the bars have not seen me. But it is throwing it down and the streets are deserted. A night in is called for.

Thanks for the reply, makes sense. I suspect some of those 'drinks only' girls are fishing for "boyfriends" too. Can work out more lucrative for them in the long run if they play their cards right (as I found out the hard way).

Do 'drinks only' girls really exist in Wanchai? I imagine that every girl there has her price if a guy wants to take her out. Did any of you guys ever encounter a strictly drinks only girl in Wanchai? (I'm not in HK and don't personally know the Wanchai scene, only what I read here and elsewhere.).

I have met several girls over the years who admitted to drinks only. Could be, of course, they would have a drink with you but simply did not want to have sex with you. Much the same as when you get approached in a bar but don't fancy the girl even if the price is right. There are many ways to dispose of drinks as well as spilling them, assuming they are not watered down.

The reason I ask is that I used to be involved with a Filipina from a buy-me-drinks bar in Orchard Towers SG who is now working the bars of Wanchai. She claims to be drinks only, saying she can earn $1000 from it on a good night like Jackthelad mentioned. Not that it makes any difference to me now that we're no longer together, but I'm still a bit curious about this.

Chantik makes a good point about the implausibility; however, maybe she is underestimating the amount of drink that ends up on the floor? The modus operandi of my ex and her friends is to hunt in packs, and after a guy buys them drinks one girl distracts the guy while the others empty their glasses. Sometimes (rarely) the guy is wise to this, watches the girl drink, and then she really does end up getting wasted. This is all according to my ex though and could be total BS LOL. However, their drinks quota back when they were working in the BMD bar in SG was 20 drinks per night (tequila shots), so they are used to going after that target.

Who am I to disagree with Chantik!

Not every girl will make that amount of money in a night or even on a regular basis but I do know that it has been done in the past. I had a very good WG friend who managed that in the "old" days when the commission and cost of LD's was even less than it is now. Of course a lot of the drink was "spilled". My main point is that at $160 a tequila, it's a rip off for the punter.

Anyway, made my way to the hotspots on Tuesday night, this time well after midnight. I thought WW111 had started the streets were empty and you could even manage to walk on the pavement past the "busy" bars. Looked into HK cafe. About 8 girls there. About turn and paid Sparks a visit. Same story. Ventured into Taboo and although busy at the doorway, was half empty inside. Had a couple of beers but left. You don't get a minute to yourself in there without being propositioned. OK if the girls were good looking but I'm afraid they were not tonight. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Conversation is also difficult with the loud band playing away.

Was making my way to Neptune111 when I met a couple of girls who regularly frequent the place. They told me it was dead with no customers. Actually felt a bit sorry for them and was persuaded to share a pizza with them from the shop right next door to Taboo. I'm not a fan of pizzas but have to say it was pretty good.

That was the only good thing that night as I walked back to my hotel.

There can't be much happening in HK right now, as the place was very quiet. Bonus is that my hotel is nearly half the price is was last November. WG 's should follow suit. Supply and demand affects costs!

Fifty dollars commission for a drink. Jack falls for the be / S from the girls about drinks money. Let's do the maths. Even if it was 70 to 90 dollars drink commission which is a truer figure. That means that a lady would need 10+ drinks to make the commission. Even taking into account some girls will drink only a little or even tip the drink on the floor or the drink may be watered down. It still means the girls have to drink, so some will not be in the best shape which is not a regular occurrence. And then you factor in there not being enough Gents to buy that many drinks, then it doesn't add up. A girl has done well if she can make 400 or 500 on drinks.

When requested for a drink I normally offer up either a Margarita or a Bailey's which is normally well received. Never let the girls order directly with the waitress.

Very true. I learned the hard way last year by letting two ladies order a drink - $580 for two. Lesson learned! The commission on a tequila is $50 to the girl. I know on a good night a girl can get $800/$1000 a night just on drinks. No need to spread the legs.

True to my word I had a quiet night on Monday. I'm still recovering from Sunday. Just a quiet drink in Mysties. Place was quiet, maybe due to the rain. Taboo was busy but certainly not packed and Amazonia only had about 1 dozen inside at 11.00 pm. Monday and Tuesday are traditionally quiet anyway.

It must be the fairs that are bringing in both customers and the girls. I have a lady friend taking care of me and don't make it out much these days. Had thought before my latest visit that I would find Wanchai quieter than in the past but was pleasantly quite surprised last night (Friday). The usual bars along Lockhart Road seemed to be doing good business at 9. 30/10. 00 pm when I strolled past them. First stop was Neptune111 which at that early hour was busy but after a couple of beers I left to avoid the constant hassle - "buy me a drink" - from the girls. Mamasan Pearla is no longer there and neither is Sam the Manager so nobody there to keep them at bay. At $160 per tequila, it can mount up as I know only too well to my cost.

Have been trying to dig up some of my old freebie go-tos. Hasn't been going well.
