You DO NOT bar fine from thiese places unless you really have money falling out fo your pockets. These places are HK$4000 per bar fine. You go to these places because you are horny, wealthy, entertaining some client, or lack the creativity to go anywhere else. And probably a blow in exchange for ladies drinks is about the best you can expect. And once you have been once, its doubtful you go back given your recollection of what it cost you.

I would not call them a scam. The cost of the drinks was not hidden, and if you asked, the waitress or bartender, would tell you the price. Yes they are over priced. Yes, in most free lancer bars in wanchi, they share the profits with the girls. No, buying one drink in HK (or 99% of the world) does not make a girl effectively yours.

I would say its just a reminder to ask questions before agreeing to buy something.

Last night I ended up in J Forrest.

Me and my friend were chatting to her other friend, then all of a sudden another 3 friends appear.

A $442HK bill later and my Filipina friend says she has to go.

Then all 5 girls come out together and end up in New Makati.

I think in HK the best action is Kowloon Park on Sundays when it is the maid's day off, or JolliBee in Central.

Good luck mongers, I fly to Thailand tomorrow, as I thought it will be cheaper and less hassle than spending another 10 days in HK.

Been avoiding New Makati because too many ladies drink pros. $442/7 = 63 make Jaaron's Neptune 2 pricing look similar to J Forrest. Hate to hear other mongers get taken but reading this forum helped me avoid some of the traps; like watch out for the wolf packs and look out for the asian version of the "Latina Chica Network". Their data base minds is what is really scary.

Seen many of the real pros in packs squeezing out the last ladies drink before hitting the streets to score the overnite with someone else. The punter who thought he had foursome at least ended up with one.

Also, hate to bust your bubble but the ones you pick up in the other location usually end up in the bars later on during the day squeezing the same guys. (several served as my guide to Wan Chai before I found this forum) They are made that way; they know how to find the fastest way to separate a guy from his assets. Oh. And the games they play. Problem is, as guys, we do enjoy them.

i'm just about to hit wan chai once more tonight, but thought i would warn other mongers.

last night i ended up in j forrest above joe bananas and near amazonia. the quality of girls was amazing. i struck a chord with this super hot filipina. she said she was just visitin. me and my friend were chatting to her other friend, then all of a sudden another 3 friends appear.

we thought oh well, we are having a good time, why don't we buy a round for their friends. it will hopefully speed up things. a $442hk bill later and my filipina friend says she has to go. i plead with her to come with me, but she says no. i cut my losses and think ok, you win some you lose some. me and my friend leave the bar, and we see slips of paper being exchanged for cash.

then all 5 girls come out together and end up in new makati. i think buying a girl drinks is ok, but don't expect to bag the girl even if you have bought some drinks for her. i think my mongering will now be strictly in thailand only. in hong kong, firstly its too expensive $1000hk (nearly 100 euro) , and secondly there are too many ladies teasing you to get you to buy drinks for her. in pattaya, you buy the girl a lady drink and she is effectively yours to keep!

I can never understand why anyone in their right mind would want to go into one of these "curtained" places. You need to fight off the old, ugly mamasan that almost pulls you in off the street. A total rip-off from what I hear. Ok, you might get a beer for $30 but look at the cost of ladies drinks. And you will be under severe pressure to buy one. I know guys that have run up enormous bills in there because of the chits that are put in an empty glass placed on the bar in front of you while they are "talking" to their "hostess". And try leaving without paying!

Well, Neptune 2 doesn't' have curtains, nor do they have mamasans. Ladies drinks are fairly reasonably priced, around HK$65 though they do get HK$50 for each drink. There's also no ciths in an empty glass. Pretty much all pay as served!

Neptune 2 is actually a cool place.

Last night (Friday) in Neptune II a thirtysomething Thai (slightly dark, dimples, sweet smile) sat next to me (I declined to buy her a drink and urged her to move on, as the asking within three minutes of chatting is an immediate disqualification).
My girl said that some punters have paid her 2. 5 to 4. Hard to say whether that is true, and I would rate her as standard appearance for a Pattaya bargirl, no stunner.
I think we'd all like to hear whether they are just the ripoff they appear to be.

I agree completely your philosophy of not buying a drink when asked in only their second sentence to you - its a turn off for me as well.
With regard to the point about getting paid 2.5 - 4 - that's a hint for a tip!

Glass elevator between the JB entrances now takes one to Forrest (said to be operated by the old Laguna group) and then Traffik (said to be operated by the old Fenwick group). The last time I swung by on a weekday, both have not been as busy as in the past in their old locations. Forrest was packed the Sunday I swung by. FreebieFan, you should have swung by on your last trip!

Before my appearance at Nep I did inquire about the Flipper gogos' pricing. A mamasan who had some attractive young ones sitting out front mentioned $30 beers $150 for lady drinks and a $1500 barfine for "Short Time." That ST, BTW, is ONE HOUR. No guarantee that the hot girls out front would be the ones to do the barfine, I suppose (and I'd certainly insist that the hour is bed time, excluding transit time. Still wondering whether anyone here has any experience with the WC gogos; and I'm flogging the query. I think we'd all like to hear whether they are just the ripoff they appear to be.

The owners of the old Laguna opended up Forrest, which is on top of Joe Bananas. The building where the old Laguna was sold and the new owners from what I understand are opening another bar.

In a new wan chai bar, J Forrest. Stand at the crossroads by Amazonia and look for the sign. Seemed a mix of indos / philipinas, most claimed to be students / just visiting but felt more semi-pro. Definitely less pro than escape / neptune 2. Not too crowded but not dead, around midnight.
