Its not that long ago since I sampled the delights of Wan Chai and in my eagerness off I trundled from my hotel for the 5/6 minute walk I could now do blindfolded. The bars on the main road were doing amazing business and with the likes of Churchills, Old Vic and Devil's Advocate, you had to walk in the street to get by them. Must be some sort of convention etc taking place, such were the numbers.Too early to make a choice but nothing however really turned my head so I left for Insiders. You have to hand it to the Philippine girls they have photographic memories and several in there remembered me, pointing out that my conquest last year was still around and they would get her to the bar. When will we ever learn.

Not a bad night ensues but I need sleep so pack her off at 2. 30 am. Cost was an non negotiable $1500 but the ladies drinks over the night more than doubles that. Need to be more careful in future.

Must have just missed you at Insiders! There were a few possibilities there early say around 11:00. I talked to one and made an offer, but it was too early for her to come down. I tried to tell her she would be back in plenty of time for a second show, but no go. Three other cuties sitting all together, but more interested in chatting on Facebook than entertaining me. Until I got up to leave and they asked why I was going so early. I smiled and said, it is easier to talk to you on Facebook than sitting beside you, they all looked stunned, until the bright one in the group got it and said "Sorry, please stay", but I was already gone. Took a fellow ISG'er to Dragon Club on a lark, just to see what it was all about. 5 cute Fils gals, and within seconds of sitting down, two came over to chat. We asked if we could have a couple of minutes to get adjusted and they left quickly. Was just about ready to see what the program was when a group of 5 or 6 suits walked in, the the lead dog called the mommie over for a private chat. I am assuming that he had some biz associates in town and wanted to make sure they had a good time. We decided that this was a good time to leave. Maybe try again one day. Long in the future, just out of curiosity.

Hope we can cross paths one day and I owe you a drink, but please don't make it a double tequila. LOL.

Usual pit stop was Neptune111 which only had a few guys in it at 10.30 pm but hoards of women, all of whom thought you were Brad Pit the way they surround you. After making it clear I was only there for a beer, I lied, the scrum slowly disappeared. One minute the place was busy, the next quiet. Too early to make a choice but nothing however really turned my head so I left for Insiders. You have to hand it to the Philippine girls – they have photographic memories and several in there remembered me, pointing out that my conquest last year was still around and they would get her to the bar. Sure enough Angel appears 10 minutes later and we meet like long lost lovers. Several ladies drinks later she confesses it is not a good time of the month but that come Friday I will be OK. How Insiders pays beats me. It's never got more than a few in. I thank her for her honesty and leave for new places. Mistys is empty but I stop by for a beer but soon my magnetism attracts some old friends and I'm caught again for these extortionate ladies drinks. Shane from last year hears the jungle drums, makes an appearance, and I'm off with her after another few LD rounds for her and her pushy friends. When will we ever learn.

As Wildhawk suggests, the economics are not there. Many do try to pass themselves off as Japanese but are not native or MILF or butt ugly. There is a fairly large Japanese population in HK. Also a fair number pass through on business or as OL tourists. Recently got lucky with one from the later group but it was not cheap. I would schedule a long weekend layover in Japan instead. Had many a great times in Roppongi.

Thanks gentleman. I suspected as much. I may have to go the Roppongi route if I ever am to tick off that box.

You certainly can buy bottled water etc in the bars and I have never had a problem in Neptune111, HK Cafe, Amazonia etc. If you are also buying a ladies drink, you will definitely have no problem. From memory there is not much difference in price so the profit margin is greater for the bar. The bars that Boarer has mentioned that have live bands don't have an admission charge. Unless of course you are from Southern coninent

Unlikely, through and through, Uncle V. (And a Japanese girl is on my bucket list, one of the few Asians I'd be needing to check off). I visited Darling 1 in Macau (recommended). Conversed with the young Burmese man who served as master of ceremonies, who claims to have worked at Darling for about five years. (Joked with him whether he gets an employee discount.) he conceded that none, never, never ever -- at least at D1 -- have been actual Japanese. But if they had an approximate appearance they may have adopted a Japanese name "Yumi", whatever, to try and sell themselves as a a higher class. My guess is that the same would be the case with an escort, and, particularly, a 141 girl; why the hell would they be selling themselves for a fraction of what they could fetch in Nippon?
Oh, and St. Peter, methinks, was among the more forgiving of saints. After all, Saint Peter.

Thanks for clearing that up. In America most bars are free to go in unless there is a live band playing. There is a charge for clubs in America. I don't usually drink alcohol so I buy bottled water or soda drinks when I go with friends. In the Hong Kong bars can you buy sodas inside and are they the same prices as beer?

IMHO, I think you know the answer. Stay in the US if they allow you to stay without buying a drink. Save your dinero. Though I would avoid gentleman's or strip clubs if I were you.

FWIW, Amazonia, NIII, HKC and Escape have bands. Most have a DJ.

As for your PM, I have seen many arrange for a girl they met earlier to accompany them during their trip. Others enjoy the hunt and try for daily multiples for multiple days. RTFF and you can see if things are within your budget. The walkup, the bars, the velvet curtain, the KTVs, and the SW. Being older and wiser, I think getting a wing man is best or having a lady knowledgeable take you around. My best trips are with a female guide where all is available. There is no time pressure and more relaxing. Book someone like Chantik for a day to get to know the lay of the land. As they say, $ talks

Once that pattern is established, they will usually request that person to buy a drink before entering or immediately. If you are a regular and you buy drinks, they will not charge you. Many South Asians tend not to buy drinks so they are usually charged. Westerners tend to drink more themselves and tend to buy lady drinks, so they are welcome. However, I have seen western guys asked to leave or buy a drink. Not all westerners have a big budget. In all, drink or no drink, they would like you to spend money at the bar. There are a couple of guys I have seen over the years who spend a couple or several thousand on a night out in Wanchai. You also see those that go to the 7-11 to fill up.

Boarer is 100% correct with his posts. Know a couple of western gents who have been banned from bars because they refuse to buy drinks. Never understood you can go to a bar and not buy a drink.

I have read in this forum that they charge non Americans and / or people that are not Asian. I haven't been to these bars because I don't drink. May if you show the bouncers your foreign passport, they won't charge a cover. I find it wrong to charge certain people cover and not charge others.
