Just after this, the man finished his spiel and asked what I wanted to do. Do I want to fight this in court or settle this? I said I'll fight it without hesitation. Then he said he'll process and send the case to TN police (TN is my home state). At this point I asked him again what his name was and which station he was calling from. He gave the name and cut the call, didn't mention which particular station.

Obviously I don't believe for a single moment that he was a genuine police officer.

I was able to stay calm mostly because of the existence of this forum and the many experiences posted here by fellow ISG'ians. So a big thanks to all of you. Please be warned of this and never give in to these blackmailers.

For mongering purpose always use a fake sim for WhatsApp and don't keep any balance in it. That way nobody would be able to call you and disturb you. Remember whenever any LE takes any action, ask for the FIR number and Thana details. If he can't give any info, tell him to fuck off simply!
