I would advise that if you have the time to invest you certainly could go in for it. You got to ask yourself the question as to what you looking for. Yes, 95% chicks are liars, scammers and cheaters but yours truly has been able to have that elusive chick out of that 5%. For me money part comes much later. Once you find girl out of that 5% which may not be pricey at all, man you are in for a ride of a lifetime and rock solid experience. Now, the 5 star hotel booking is also a punter's choice, those in 5% would gladly go with you in a 2 or a 3 star. I am in India for a couple of months, traveling from US.
My trip so far has been disappointing as I have not been able to monger as I had planned due to family reasons.

My few inputs:
1. visit QP and hop on any MP. You won't be disappointed. First word is the tallest minaret in Delhi. P as in plaza.
2. Avoid Alive at Golf Course road (lighting up your notes on fire is perhaps more satisfying than going here).
3. If you really want to do some adventure. Visit Vatika town sq, sector 81 or 82, after crossing toll (far far awayland), go to the 3rd floor of this market. Go to diamond (s p a) - you pay 500 for 30 minutes for mssg and 1000 for F S. Much better value for money than any other place I have visited.
