Hope I could get some advice. I have been to Bali many times with my partner (now my ex) but am now going for the first time by myself and am so looking forward to sampling the locals.

I lived in Bali for a few years about a decade ago, I have been back a few times and while a little of the following maybe a bit dated it is in the most part valid.

I wrote this on a Australian forum regarding Bali. WL = Working Lady (polite term for prositute)

In general in the bars the there are two types of WL, those after sex with some money on the side and those after money. The latter are a lot less fussy than the ones after sex with some money on the side.

There are now some expensive looking hostess bars in Bali that are rip offs. Anything that looks an expensive version of a thai girlbar with lady drinks is almost gaurenteed to be a rip off, though the girls may neg for after hrs work, bar fines do not exist.

The locals let in the free lancers but the locals go to great lengths to ensure Bali does not become like Phuket. In Indonesia there are three types of girls that accept money for sex.

Prostitutes.

Girlfriends.

The difference is.

Prostitutes are expected to sleep with all clients.
