At your next visit, walk into any small shop in kuta that makes rubber stamps, (STEMPEL) , show them your license, and have a stamp made. Buy a red ink pad, and before you know it, you are legal my friend.

Do you have a list of names or address (street and cross street) that you are aware of. Also what should it cost as not to get ripped off. Thanks.

I rode in Bali for 10days on my last visit. Agree that taxis are not expensive but Nothing like the freedom of doing my own travel to anywhere, anytime and on my own schedule. If I didn't like what was on offer from Xhouse 1, then simple to hop on the bike to Xhouse 2 and so on until I find what I like and if its early and most gals not on duty yet, then hop on and ride to the beach and come back later. Can't really do that with a taxi as using them will entail a "commission" on anything you choose on site and price of ride goes up as you go from house to house to house.

IMO- Bali is ok for riding motobikes (can't say anything about outside of this area or roads to Java etc as I have not experience this). For comparison as I've rode motobikes in several other asian countries, the worst are Thailand (BKK) , Cambodia (PP) and Vietnam (HCMC). If you can survive those places (I have) then Bali is a breeze-again IMO.



And agree, this website is great for other relevant info from many mongers that share our passion for our hobby. For me, finding ways to get to the action (hence the Intl license inquiry/questions) is just as important as getting the action. It's really to each owns preference for mode of transport as others here will also tell you they too love travelling on their own.

Hot, Dusty, Fumes and A Lot of Work in riding bikes. The only way to go is in an air conditioned mobile with good music and a cold drink. And benzine is so cheap in Bali. No reason to risk your life and limb in that traffic.

Why-because renting motobikes is another mode of transportation to find "action", and not rely on taxi all the time.

On my last trip, I rented a motobike without knowing or anyone telling me I needed anything other than my home state car license and my passport. I showed them these and the bike was mine for 10 days. Now reading about all the police checkpoints I guess I was lucky never stopped or saw a police anywhere in Sanur or Kuta.

Don't plan to press my luck so I'm also thinking about getting an Intl drivers license to be sure.

Note: The AA Intl will not work for me as I don't have a motocycle licence, just a regular car license.

Thinking of perhaps getting the Intl drivers license online but not now sure if this will cover a motobike use? Any one with thoughts on this could PM me.

I was visited Indonesia about a decade ago, and base on your experience, I would have had NO experience during my week there in Bali.
