If you are driving back to Sanur from Denpasar, you have to go through Renon. This is the government admin quarter. Cucumber, I agree with you on both Bali and Jakarta. I would not say Bali Sucks as pussy is available and someone like me, it's only part time occupation as I like outdoors. For a bigger pool of fish, Jakarta is hands down a very good option. Many locations and you can have fun everyday from paying very high to very low. But, nothing really to see in Jakarta. For me, it would be a better destination than Bali for pussy only. Also you have to arrange where to be as traffic is horrendous in Jakarta. I really do like the girls in Jakarta a lot more than in Bali.

I've only spent a couple of days in both cities (generally en route to a longer stay in Thailand), but I'd agree that Bali is a better place to enjoy your whole day, whereas Jakarta is only great for eating, drinking, or fucking. The traffic in Bali is more like Miami (horrible, but ultimately navigable) whereas Jakarta's traffic looks more like Manila's (created from the blood of evil hellspawn), so you do legitimately have to know where you're going when you leave your hotel. I had more Bule-negative expenses in Bali (when I was there in April, Angel Salon tried to charge me 800 k, and the spot next door tried to shake me down for 750), but I'll be going back in October to take friends because there's a lot of other stuff to do on Bali, whereas Jakarta is very much not a group vacation destination. If you're like me (someone from the West Coast who enjoys Asia but prefers to spend their time in S. America), Bali's a much better pick than Jakarta in terms of not spending your day doing logistics prepwork. Having said that, I'll probably book an AirAsia are / t for Jakarta while I'm in Bali, just because I'm already on that side of the IDL.
