During this holy month, what is the atmosphere like on Bali? Wikipedia says that the majority of the island are Hindu. Should I just go to Bali on a different month, rather then in Sept?

Yes, Bali is mostly hindu so the general atmoshere won't really change at all. You'll still be able to eat pork get drunk and be merry as always.

However, it's worth keeping in mind that 99% of the local working girls are actually muslims (mostly from java). Still, if you go during the early part of ramadan, it should be fine. There might even be some extra girls around cause most of the bars in java will be closed for the whole month, so some will come to Bali as it's the best place for them to find work at the time. Though they probably won't want to drink alcohol.

However, as idul fitri (the main part of the holiday) approaches, more and more of the girls will head off for the obligatory visits home, and Bali will become more and more hooker-free.

Le Meridien is a bad selection for a hotel, unless you are agolf enthusiast. There is no beach and nothing nearby. For everything you have to go to Kuta, 45 min to 1 hour away. The one on Danau Poso is nearly dead because of police . So went on Danau Tempe on the other side of the highway. Does anyone have any information on Carueso's bar in Kuta?

Tried a search, but no luck there. Maybe I will have to file a report myself?

Crusoe is about 3 minutes walk from MBargo in Jl Legian, you actually pass it first when heading down towards the other clubs. I personally havent been in there as the pr girls totally put me off, they are very pushy and I havent seen a good looking one yet. But hey maybe my taste is different. It tends to start earlier that the other clubs, but as yet nothing of class seeems to have come out of there.
