But definitely 2-3 days is enough time for being a tourist sightseeing as all you need to see in Jakarta can be done in 1 day (yeh, not much to see really) and the rest of the 2 days stuck in traffic.
Enjoy your trip and don't forget to post your adventure.
Cheers.

Dolly was indeed the metropolis of brothels in its prime. I've only had the chance to visit the place once or twice in its glory before it was shut down. It was never completely gone as for maybe 2-3 yrs after, some shops still exist in the area but talent was limited and mainly more hidden from what I remember. They still exist but Too much time and hassle to find decent talent so I gave up and never went back.
From my trips to Indo. , I sort of remember Dolly was huge but was being slowly phased out by the govt while Kalijodo was untouched and intact and still in its prime, so maybe for a brief time it was the largest in Indo by default.
I haven't been to India but I heard they now have some big RLD to rival Kalijodo. Although not sure anything can ever rival Dollywood.
Cheers all and enjoy these places while they still exist.

The very low end red light districts became too much of an obvious eyesore so were moved on. Rather than centralised areas, the dens have now dispersed to strips along train tracks or under freeways.
Just a minor correction: Kalijodo was big but wasn't the biggest in the world or even in Indonesia for that matter. Dolly in Surabaya was many times bigger. That was also closed down years ago. However, there were a few houses that managed to hold on. I have no idea if they still remain or if the area was gentrified.
Sad to see so many of the old institutions fading away.
Cheers. G.

Too bad as it was a great place with cheaper drinks and lady fun.
Just wondering if any places like Kalijodo exist anymore in Jakarta. Did all the girls move elsewhere in the city or got sent back to provinces?
I haven't been back in Jakarta in over 8 yrs now but would consider a trip back to explore if places like that still exist.
PM me if you have any info.
Cheers all.

You will spend more time stuck in traffic getting to whatever destination than actually spending time there.
Again, just my take.

I found both locations to have similar prices (Bali x-house price to Jakarta spa like Classic). But Jakarta is a big city so much more girls to choose from while Bali have more limited options.
But from memory, the cheapest places for relief 15-20 yrs ago was Cambodia and Jakarta. Cambodia x-house style brothels were about $4 (locals paid $2 as I got double price for being a foreigner- I never complained as its cheaper than Starbucks coffee).
Jakarta 15 yrs ago had one of the biggest slum brothels on earth (sorry, can't remember the name of the place but hundreds of cute girls on site scattered over dozens of brothels and bars). It's a place only locals go to as I never saw a foreigner there. They didn't bother me as I was a regular there so many papa sans knew me by face. If you the correct price and a few Indonesian words, the price was about $5 a pop and $1 tip to the girl.
I have not been back to Jakarta in 8 yrs so not sure if any places like that exist anymore.

Can you recommend a guest friendly hotel, villa, or apartment in Sanur? I'm in the fortune position of the girlfriend wanting a threesome, and our current place is not suitable. Too many staff around. Thanks.
