I am going to Batam next month for the first time and eager for your info since apart from working I want to have some fun there also. Hotels is not a problem. SGD 40 to 50 will get you decent. Good ones are also available. Just move around in a cab, check out the vicinity near the hotel before picking.

Yes, but its factored into the cost of your plane ticket ex-Changi (SIN). There's no counter or anything like that to pay for a coupon seperately, such as at BKK or CGK.

When they issue you a 3 day visa, how long is it really?

There is no 3-days visa anymore. It's 7 days for 10 USD or 30 days for 25 USD.
And the first day counts already as full day, so for 10 Dollars you may stay Friday to Thursday.

Took ferry to BATAM from Harbor front, It was one hour ten min ride to Batam. Called Eady the driver found his number on this forum nice guy, Picked me and dropped me at Formosa Hotel I paid him S$5. Hotel room is S$63 booked via hotel web site.

It was already 7 PM had McDonalds and roomed around the area, Went to 4th floor of Formosa hotel (empty)
Memory (4 ugly girls) asking 300K for LT came to know that every one is already booked

Would like to set the record straight that those pics were taken on my trip there last July/August '06. Never had the chance to get all those pics straight for posting.
