So after two days in Singapore, headed to Jakarta. Arrived late in the evening on AirAsia, long and slow queue at immigration, then get luggage, find a cab, arrive in Parklane Hotel after a good 45 min drive. Paid around 300K for a limo, not a bad deal. Nice room, at 70+ € internet included. Had some s. T to fix for next day meetings, so worked with staff until wee hours, was quite tired from last night and day of work in SIN so after checking the empty bar in the basement decided to go sleep and not do any attempt at let's say get drunk a Blok M or CJ's and then miss my early meeting. Funny, though, when I was checking in around 10 PM, met a guy I know from SIN in the lobby, all fresh and prim and proper, alone, heading out. Took flight to BKK later. Nearly missed it, cause it took me 1H30 minutes to reach airport. On a Saturday?

The "Kitas" they were asking for is not relevant unless you have one ( generally for work\retirement) in which case you should carry it. If you were on a Visa on Arrival then just producing your Passport with the Visa inside is sufficient. So it comes down to a game of bluff. Mongers should remember to carry their Passport or relevant doc's during this period, as a photocopy of the Passport does not legally fulfill the requirements. Of course it does when accompanied by 50,000 :-)

It's part of the system. They don't make enought to get buy on so a little help is needed to support the holidays.
I always put 50,000 in my papers and hand it to them. They always hand it back with a thank you and let us go.
They know we can afford it and whats a 50 to us. Chump change.

In the many years (more than 15) I have been coming and travelling all over Indonesia I have never been stopped and asked for my papers.

(I've been asked for my drivers license often enough, but that's par for the course in Bali, and almost a game.)

But in a case like you describe, absolutely refuse to show your papers or continue the conversation on the side of the road. Demand to go to the police station. They will back down.

Don't worry about language. "No" is universally understood.

Indo cops can be tricky and corrupt but are very rarely strong-arm unless you get physically aggressive with them first.

For your information, a KITAS is a residency permit.

Whatever visa you entered Indonesia on is good enough to travel everywhere throughout the country, provided you don't overstay.

Thanks for the good report. Two quick comments/questions:

- I'm impressed that you were willing to take the train in that neighborhood. No real need, however, as a taxi would cost you at most one or two U.S. dollars (just over 1 Euro) and would probably be quicker.

- any names of the 2 girls at Kartika? how much did you pay/tip? care to share any details of your session?

I don't see any reason NOT to take the train. I like using public transport whenever possible; less hassle than taxis sometimes are, you know exactly where you are going and in Jakarta it is definitely quicker (and much cheaper) than going by taxi. I don't think a taxi can beat the three minutes the train needs to Juanda station.

Nothing special to mention about the session other than that it was nice. I to have a similar set of movements arriving Jakarta 23 Aug following several days stay in Bangkok. I will return to Bangkok in early September where I have arranged for a TTM to come and stay and with me and have her first threesome.

Ramadan & Eid al-Fitr

Muslims throughout the world annually observe a month of fasting, known as Ramadan, which this year will begin on August 11, 2010. After the fasting ends, Muslims then celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday on September 9, 2010 (technically, at dusk on September 8th). This holiday is known as Lebaran in Bahasa Indonesian language and can continue for several days afterwards. Many non-Muslims refer to Eid-al-Fitr as the Muslim equivalent of Christmas, since presents are given to children and everyone wears new clothes.

Although Eid al-Fitr is always on the same day of the Islamic calendar, the date on the Gregorian calendar varies from year to year, since the Gregorian calendar is a solar calendar and the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar. This difference means Eid al-Fitr moves earlier in the Gregorian calendar approximately 11 days every year (for example, Ramadan will begin on August 1st in 2011 and Eid al-Fitr will be August 30th in 2011).

During Ramadan, Muslims are obligated to fast from sunrise until dusk, meaning no water or other liquids, no food and no sex. Muslims then break their fast with a small snack/meal at sunset, which in Jakarta is roughly around 6 p.m., then eat a bigger meal an hour or two later. Many folks eat again one or more times during the night, ending up with a pre-dawn meal named sahur. Restaurants are usually packed for dinner, especially in the 5 star hotels like the Marriott and Four Seasons. Ironically, many people gain weight during Ramadan.

Towards the end of Ramadan, around September 4-7, many Jakarta residents leave Jakarta to travel to their home village, to celebrate the Eid holiday with their family and fellow villagers for several days, returning to Jakarta around September 13-19. Estimates are that up to 2 million Jakartans leave Jakarta for their villages in Java & Sumatra. One benefit for those who stay behind is that the traffic is light for several days, and the air & the view improves due to the lack of automobile pollution.

Muslims are supposed to abstain from sex during daylight hours during Ramadan, and if a woman does have intercourse during the nighttime hours, she is then expected to shower and wash from head to toe before sunrise.

There is usually a renewed interest in prayer during Ramadan and attendance increases for mosque services. Ironically, the amount of petty crime (shoplifting, pickpocketing, breaking & entering, etc.) also increases as people become desperate for money to buy food, clothing and gifts for Eid.

Please note that government offices, embassies, consulates and most private offices are closed from just before the end of Ramadan until several days after Eid-al-Fitr, roughly Sept. 7 to 15/16. If you need a visa, have your passport renewed, or have pages added to your passport, etc., plan accordingly.

How does this affect mongering in Indonesia?

Most massage parlors/spas, such as Kartika, Berlian, Maribaya (6th floor of Hotel Melawai), etc., shut down just before Ramadan starts, and re-open approx. 1 week after the Eid ul-Fitr (the exact dates differ from place to place). For 2010, this means that most of those places will close down after this weekend and re-open around September 16th. Most of the ladies who work in these places usually go back home to their villages for the entire 5 1/2 week period, returning to Jakarta when their particular spa re-opens.

Many of the "pick-up" bars and night clubs also curtail their activities during Ramadan, closing earlier, maintaining a lower profile, or even closing completely.

All working girls who return home will be expected to bring presents and cash with them when they return home, so mongers will find many working girls to be extremely aggressive for tips during the next few days. This can work to a monger's advantage, as you may be able to easily negotiate special services, including twosomes, perhaps even anal, from girls desperate to earn cash, but may also work to your disadvantage, since some girls may be more tempted to pick-pocket or rush their short-time session so they can get more business.

Another occurrence is that Muslim fundamentalist groups usually become emboldened. At least once or twice during every Ramadan, there will be a news story about a police or mob raiding/attacking a bar on the grounds that that bar is disrespecting Islam by remaining open during the fasting month.

What's a monger to do?

Fear not; although most mps are closed and bar activity is curtailed, there are still several options, including but not limited to:

- many of the massage spas, such as Hotel Malioboro, Hotel Alexis, and Hotel Travel, do not close during Ramadan; they are allowed to remain open as they are located in a hotel, rather than as a free-standing shop.

- some working girls stick around Jakarta for at least the first 2-3 weeks of Ramadan to earn some more money before they go back to their home villages in time for the Eid. As written here on ISG in the past, for the last several years, a group of Maribaya Spa girls rent a block of 2-3 rooms in the Hotel Melawai and work out of these rooms. I had some great 2-girl sessions here during Ramadan 2007.

- some freelance girls can still be found through mall-hunting, etc., or in some of the hotel bars, although they are usually more discreet in how they act and dress. Not all of these girls will want to spend the entire night with you, although some will.

- some of the hand-job-only spas, such as Fortune Spa, may remain open, although others, such as Jaspa and Delta, may be closed the entire period.

- you could travel to Bali, which has a Hindu-majority population, or else travel outside of Indonesia.

A bonus!
Luckily, there's a bonus to all this. When the working girls return to Jakarta after Eid-al-Fitr, they often bring other, younger girls with them. Nothing like an eager, barely-legal girl to brighten up your day!

Did some homework before this trip and had a few ladies contact me via this site... the rate of response was about 10%, which was much better than AFF... From this and past experience it does seem that most pictures either old or not to be trusted... Maybe asking for a separate updated photo via email would help... In any case, asking price of 600k... counter with 400k, agreed at 500k... A different girl asked for 800k, countered with 500k, settled at 600k with promise that if the photo didn't match the deal was off... However the 2nd case never showed with an excuse of family drama...

I think you overpaid for each of the three options you went for:

1. DIA - while there are WGs on DIA, I have met many (admittedly some whose photos don't exactly match) who aren't there for the money - just normal girls who might be in for some fun. There was a girl who was clearly 10kg more than her photo - but she came with her friend who was hot. I just got the friend's contact and proceeded from there. The possibilities depend on how you word your profile. Incidentally, I never lie about my marital status - in fact I stress it, because I don't want the hassle. There are some who will not be open to it, but plenty of others who will.

2. TG - I'm not a TG expert but most of the regulars here seem to quote 500k LT. But as with anywhere, the WGs will maximize if they smell an opportunity.

3. CJs - Just refer to Ceegees report above yours. If they push for that kind of price, just walk. You'd be surprised how some of them can come down if they really think you're walking away. Normally the ones who don't aren't that great an experience anyway. The WGs here really know how to maximize and you can see some of them do get takers. I've been in CJs and watched a girl target guys staying in Mulia, go up to the room and be back 45 minutes later. She managed 3 "victims" that night before settling in for a late LT. That's an extreme case but there are many similar cases. I certainly wouldn't want to have an LT like that.
