If its Thurs thru Saturday night around 1 am or later and in the unlikely event that you haven't found what you are looking for at CJ's or Bats or you are back out on the hunt for a 2nd session after visiting Malioboro / Malio, then head to Blok M. The street is a dump, but the bars are warm and inviting.

Stay at either the Harris Vertu or the Grand Mercure Jakarta Harmoni. Both hotels are located within walking distance across the street from Malioboro / Malio.

MY REALLY IMPORTANT RECOMENDATION to you: check out Malio Club and Malioboro. It does not matter what your pre-Jakarta preference is. "WHEN in Rome" should be your guiding philosophy. The big mistake you made in Cebu was sticking too long with the internet social network pickup sites when they were not working for you and not switching to the local bar scene. Malioboro / Malio rocks and has a great assortment of girls in different price points. IMHO it puts Beach Club to shame. The only downside is that it is too prohibitively expensive to take a girl out of the club, but don't let that deter you from going and checking it out. Remember, When in Rome! I really think you will like Malioboro & Malio.

Warning: This post is going to be boring for long time Jakarta mongerers and for those of you who only frequent the high end spas and clubs.

This is a summary of my very recent 6 night stay in Jakarta.

For the record, I'm a 58 year old Caucasian with average looks, medium-build body, blue eyes, fairly white skin, and fully gray hair. I bring this up because it's amazing how many western guys I encounter in clubs here in Asia who are a bit negligent about personal hygiene.

I do think the price / value ratio at places like Hotel Classic and Travel is very good. It's amazing how attractive many of the women are, but very few girls speak English and for me the service has become rather routine over time.
