There were a few a week pre-pandemic, but since that time a lot of routes have been consolidated or cut. It's a major pain in the ass for those of us working here, especially east of Java. For example, I used to be able to get from Papua to Manado with a brief stopover in Sorong, albeit on Sriwajaya, in a morning, but now the same trip involves a stop in Makassar, which depending on the airline means the trip takes the best part of the day. Anyhoos, Malang to Surabaya is only 2 hours if you time it right and there are over a dozen flights a day from there to Bali.

You are right. I am sure I had a ticket atleast from Malang. The flight had got canceleed and I had to go to surabaya next day to bali. But this trip I am only visiting medan, Jakarta then bali and home.

I'm at the yuan garden so right down the road from classic. Haven't looked too much at Malio but prefer the spa. Only have 2 days tho and still want to do normal tourist stuff. Plan on hitting vantasy one night and the tracks the other, classic if tracks don't pan out.

Another punt in Classic. Fairly average punt. I think the maid this time recognized me as the dude who doesn't tip.

There's no standard tip. One time (before Covid) I tipped 50 k, the girl was disappointed and wanted 100 k. If you give 100 k, she'll want 200 k. Another time I gave zero, she whined just the same, not more. Get the picture? They get a ton of customers, I really doubt they remember you and keep detailed track of your tipping habits. The only reason to go to these places is to be able to choose among a large number of decent looking girls and fuck one for $25, in a place that is not horribly dirty and slummy (like Kota Indah or worse). It's clearly mafia run, mamasans are pushy and obnoxious, the venue is smoky and dark, in the room girl attitudes are bland at best and service is as minimal and unenthusiastic as they can get away with. She's in debt, not free to leave, and you're her #10 for the day, get over it. I went with 7-8 or so Travel / Classic girls, not a single one was memorable. If you enjoy it, great, if not, just don't go.

Does anyone know any direct flights from Malang to Bali? I had a bad experience last time with a flight rescheduled. I had to change my plans to the next day's flight from Surabaya.

Malang airport is small and only has flights to Jakarta. Either go to Bali overland plus a short ferry or take a flight from Surabaya.

Beware when booking girls off twitter or Michat of the deposit scam. Some enterprising locals have worked up a tidy little model.

Firstly the lady is generally always young, pretty and amenable to all your perverted desires, IE It follows a general scam principle of "If it sounds too good to be true it probably is".

OS just yesterday organised a lovely young lady along these lines in the Eastern Java town of Blitar. To attend his hotel for the purpose of satisfying OS's Lusty desires. The negotiations take place on whatsapp and the lady agrees to come. 20 minutes tops.

Next thing the representative of her establishment is on the phone requesting OS pay a refundable security deposit to their bank account of which OS declines to pay. Making it clear that the deal was always cash in room. They remain insistent and upon realisation by OS that they are not going to shift on this. OS cancels the booking. Both with the lady who is by this time also urging OS to settle the deposit and the representative.

Next thing a new number starts ringing of which OS declines to answer and then this charming gentleman introduces himself by way of message as the local police commander complete with picture of himself in uniform looking stern. The gentleman explains because OS cancelled the booking that he is obliged to transfer the value of the booking anyway and threatens to attend OS's hotel.

OS suggests he may wish to telephone Jakarta headquarters and ask a certain high ranking policeman there if he has a friend called Mr_. _. _. _. _. Which seems to get this gentleman rather agitated and he proceeds to inform OS that his subordinate is on the way to the OS hotel and will arrive soon. OS then sends a photo of a policeman he knows quite well with a few stars on his shoulders which gets a curt reply that he also has stars and then a photo of general number II arrives. This game is called "who has the better patronage".

In this instance OS wins the game for the subordinate never arrives.

In retrospect OS is probably 65/35 certain that this was probably all just a scam by some people somewhere, although there was evidence that some of the material had originated in Blitar. The whole thing can be a little disconcerting but OS has previously had similar demands from unknown actors when refusing to pay DP so was prepared.

OS couldn't help but mock our police friend the next morning suggesting he might just be the janitor instead and not to get scared if somebody from Jakarta called. To which he threatened that OS would soon be going viral. OS then elaborated on his vision of husbands from all over Indonesia contacting OS for the purposes of servicing their wives with his big thing and suggested to the commander that OS would be available to service his wife too, if he so wished.

So as a handy hack for some of you more adventurous types out there who are coming to Indonesia. Get yourself an online photo of some high ranking police general and then photo shop yourself into the pic standing there like you are the best of bro's. You never know. It may just come in handy to have in your phone.

There's a Bluebird app but I found it didn't work effectively a lot of the time. Yes if you are going to use an app use Grab. The advantage of Bluebird is that they are right on location if it's a spot that supports them. You can be waiting a long time for a Grab if you're in Kelapa Gading or even Kota Indah late at night.

Visited Jetski Cafe in the sea side for food in the evening with a friend. Used Grab app and grab taxi for traveling. If we are in a crowded place to catch a grab taxi through app, should know Bahasa at least a little or use translated texts and convey location. When I took Blue bird, I followed the meter and taxi from side road. Inside the car used google translator. Evening went to CJs bar. Went little late past 10 in the night, even then the traffic was hectic. Even though I visited CJs early, it's a good club to listen music and sit in bar stool in the side area to talk with a lady for some time. Nice place to pick a girl and enjoy the night. If one is prepared to spent 2 to 3 Juta can get a good girl with good time in CJs. I had a friend with me so restricted to speak only with ladies around. Better go alone. Think so.

Next day visited to South Jakarta, Grand Indonesian mall and Eastern Promise. EP is a good place. Typical British pub style. They have continental and Indian food. Different areas in EP which can hold any type of crowd. Good place for picking up girls too. Next time go alone. South Jakarta is clean greenery place with good roads. Next time my target of stay will be in South Jakarta. Saw a Fortune spa on my way back. Not much review here.
