I'm a little surprised at how many guys on here say they would gladly overpay for the girl. I can remember a time when every guy on the forum would have refused that girl. No wonder prices have gone so high.

Very good selection? That's odd, I dropped into MTR last week and I thought the selection was poor.

I live in Thailand, and am used to the places & prices you see around Phetburi, Rama9 and mid-Sukhumvit. Looking from that perspective, I thought these places were pretty good indeed.

Will try classic next time I have a chance, thanks for the suggestion. I also remember Jakarta 15 years ago (last time I was there), this city has always been the one I remember most fondly in SE. Asia.

Multiply that by about 100 and you would be accurate about the money that got in the way. Had I taken that girl, I would have set the standard for all other girls I took home at 2 million rupiah for the night from that point on. Negotiating below that would have been difficult going forward for me. These girls all gossip and know when guys overpay. Also, I just couldn't live with myself knowing I gave any girl here that much money for a short time. It's insane money for Jakarta. I would say the hot girl was a 7 and the girl I took was a 6, the hot one just happened to be the hottest in the place that night. I don't think much was lost, if anything. I see desperate duan as the type that sees that if you pay say $50 for the "6" and that means the hottest girl is that "7" and now she's worth exponentially more than the "6".

Because hes going to walk out with the hottest girl in the place.

How much more is a "7" worth over a "6" just based on optics alone, I say not much.

I'll stand by the need to be able to walk away if the conditions aren't right. It's a pretty basic negotiation skill.

I see gross over paying only affecting guys that are doing the same. These guys are seen as easy marks by the girls and are treated differently to those guys who know the going rates and are not willing to pay stupid prices. I tried to emphasis in my post that this especially applies to long term residents or frequent visitors as the girls know that these guys know the prevailing conditions and there is no point in trying for more. I know of many places that have been overrun by fly in tourists or visitors where the girls are charging these guys top prices yet still meeting local residents for a fraction of these prices and often giving better service thrown into the bargain.

Longer term, I think the inflationary pressure of a few guys overpaying is exaggerated. If we look at Pattaya and Bali, where tourist numbers have exploded and the proportion of high paying Asian visitors has increased, a knowledgable hunter can still get cut price services. This Forum has many posts of sub 300 kRp or 1000 be sessions with decent looking girls.

The first rule of any transaction or negotiation is that you need to be prepared to walk away which is what you did to good effect.

I can understand guys that are in town for a weekend or fortnight being happy to pay up for what they want but when you live there and the same girl will be available any number of nights moving forward then what's the urgency? Just wait until the timing and pricing is right for both of you.

We often hear guys saying 'it's my money I can spend it how I please'. I agree with this but equally people can refuse to spend their money as they see fit. It's the same argument.

Grand MTR: bar style, with about 30 girls packed at one end. Very good selection. After a couple of beers I went to Mariyang, 27 YO, a bit soft around the middle. Speaks good English, good service, has definitely been around the block a few times. 120 K in beers, 390 K +100 K tip for the rest.

I walked to the back area where the girls are located and they were all seated packed in like sardines as usual there so you can't tell what they really look like. I asked the mamasan to show me some lineups. She pulled girls out 5 at a time and lined them up standing in front of me. I had about 6 lineups and did not choose a girl. I didn't see any in there I liked.

I will say though that 20 years ago, MTR was fantastic. The talent they had back then was awesome and the rooms were the same rooms they have now except 20 years newer. LOL.

You can find gems anywhere in Jakarta and the girls move around so much that you never know what the talent will be one month to the next. Hotel Classic pretty consistently has pretty girls, the rest of the places are up and down.

Very well portrait! Bottom line is, we pay either way. Whether with money or with regrets and I would rather pay with money rather than having a savings account of regret that will accumulate interest in a very higher rate as my flight gains higher altitudes.

A brilliant perspective! I could not agree more except that I don't have to wait for the end of my life for regrets to set in. They usually hit me at the end of a trip in the form of "the girl that got away. " But maybe I am learning a thing or two from past mistakes because I had no such regrets from my last trip, although I still recall couple of "girls that got away" from previous trips.

I don't like to overpay either. I think it is a tell that maybe the girl in question might not be so good later on in bed. That's why I stay aware of the current price range in all the various venues that I intend to take in. I won't overpay, but I will pay the top end of the price range if I want/like the girl. Jakarta can be very inexpensive or it can be expensive. It depends where you go and who you choose.

But I am a little surprised that the CJ's girl in your report did not offer you an expat rate or at least come down a little from her 2 mill initial offer. Just curious; but when the subject comes up in conversion as it usually does, " do you work here in Jakarta?" If your honest response is not worth something tangible to the girl and result in a good rate to you a majority of the time. I would think smart, working FL's would value Expats and Foreign Employee customers over short stay tourists any night in the week. Potential repeat business.

I had a chance to visit Jakarta last week, went to see the scene in Kota Indah.

Day one. Late afternoon, Starmoon Bar and Grand MTR.

Starmoon: traditional fishbowl setup, about 20 girls, at least 10 eminently doable. Picked Fita, 20 YO, little English, quite friendly and enterprising, but not a lot of experience. 350 K + 100 K tip.

Grand MTR: bar style, with about 30 girls packed at one end. Very good selection. After a couple of beers I went to Mariyang, 27 YO, a bit soft around the middle. Speaks good English, good service, has definitely been around the block a few times. 120 K in beers, 390 K +100 K tip for the rest.

Day two: LA bar and Sariya just on front of LA.

LA: small, friendly atmosphere, about 20 girls at one end of the place. Went for Anisa, 19 YO, stunning body, no English and a bit of a starfish. But a very, very good looking starfish. Prices as above.

Sariya: a bit larger, about 30 girls. Selected Fitri, 23 YO, small and slim and cute, but, in retrospective, a bad choice. She's in the wrong business, not enjoying herself at all. Again about 600 K in total, with a beer or two.

Getting there and back: just call a bluebird via their app, no issues. They picked me up in front of the bar. Bad traffic though, the taxi round-trip (from mega kuningan) costs as much as the "entertainment".

Overall impression. Good prices, good selection, but as always the youngest / prettiest are seldom the most fun to be with.
