Its serious quarantine. In the early days you could leave your room but the rules have tightened up now. Certainly If you choose a good hotel theres no monkey business. You may get some latitude in the more downmarket hotels but you also get free cockroaches in your room. OS has done the 5 days and asked the same questions but it isn't on the menu.
Orchards has a 5 juta rupiah plan and everyone loves that hotel. Kekeke.
Do you have an official link confirming this? I thought Indonesia was closed to foreigners.
It's closed to foreigners but with a list of exceptions. I can apply for a business visa and I'm also an APEC card holder. Need to head there for one day's worth of meetings and plan to stay for a few more days to take a break but locked in my room alone wasn't how I planned on those extra days.
Entry into Jakarta presently requires a 5 day quarantine at traveler's expense.
Not a problem regarding expense. It's the downtime that I don't much like. There are packages where the 5 nights include 3 meals per day, 5 pieces of laundry, 2 covid tests, and at the end of quarantine a Clearance Letter.
Question is, how serious is the hotel about keeping that quarantine? No visitors, no leaving your room, etc for 5 days. Can I slip the monitor a few notes and basically get around the strictness? Don't mind spending the day time working those 5 days, but at night. Would like to get visitors or take a ride down to a few places. Anyone know how these regulations are being enforced or how strictly they're being enforced?

Several army personnel are stationed around the quarantine hotels. There would be no way for a visitor to slip in unnoticed.

The police or authority in Jakarta are either very naive and/or pretend not to know that most of massage parlour staffed by young girls have also been used for sexual activities. I guess the latter is true.
You are naive. Of course they know because they get money out of it. As for BB everybody does it here. If you don't like it go somewhere else.
The police found used condoms at Mr. Braid during a raid a couple of years ago. That's surprising to me since, as far as I know, the girls there never demand a condom.

Well, the girls might not demand a condom, but it does not mean the customers will not use condom. Some customers do not want to do BB or any type of unprotected sex as they do not want to take a risk of getting STD or HIV infection.

I'd recommend Mr. Braid over G2 Hotel, but since you can walk from one to the other in about 20 seconds I guess you're fine to check them both out. (but I think you're better off at Mr Braid!

Another new find just opened up, and it's almost next door from this place and even better. It seems that G2 Hotel (my earlier post), Mr. Braid Bar, and Bunker Bar in Blok M are all owned by the same guy. I went in and checkout out Mr. Braid bar and it is definitely a place worth visiting. It is located here:
Good information friend. Even if the monger touristy spots like Travel and Classic were closed, lot of new bars and party places are coming up. Even though it is meant for native people, things are more active when compared to Thai and Phil. We can also have a piece of that cake when good times comes.
The place is a bit faded now and nowhere near as popular as it used to be (for the expat crowd anyhow). Once upon a time it was not unheard of for working girls in Jakarta to do stints down there chasing business, but I've not heard of that happening for more than 10 years now. I am sure you can find something, although it may not be top-shelf, or even mid-shelf for that matter. Probably best to take your own.
Appreciate the feedback. I am probably going to take an adventure down there just to see what it looks like. Fortunately, I don't have anything up here in Jakarta that I want to be with for longer than a few hours, so probably best I don't take my own. .
I'll arrive with extremely low expectations and see what the taxi drivers can help me discover. If nothing else, it will make for an interesting trip report!
