That has always been the narrative for years, Westerners ruining the local culture and all that. However, that simply cannot be the reason to shut down a place. If your point was right, the authorities should have shut down Malio as well. Or CJ's, BATS, etc. Or cleaned them up, put stringent restrictions on freelancers entering the place.

In my view the reasons why places of our mutual interest get shut down are always the holy trinity. Religion, politics and money.

I think you you misunderstood my point, but you are preaching to the choir.

I never said it was the 'Sole' reason these places closed down, but one of 'several' contributing factors. Amongst which, how 'connected' the boss is, as well as how much grease they can lube the squeaky wheel with, are important. Public Over-exposure makes the wheel squeak louder, which the bosses then may have to address, and certainly does not help. I don't think anyone could reasonably argue otherwise. As for Malio. While it has gone under further scrutiny as of late. It is the most 'connected' establishment of the bunch.

As for CJs and Bats, these are a totally different category like comparing apples and oranges. I don't think they are concerned with these places (or they just tolerate them) as they are meant for expats and foreign businessmen to have fun on work trips. They are fairly discrete compare to the brothels and the locals never really complain of these places anyways. It would also be difficult for Authorities to act on them because they are just bars where technically nothing illegal happens inside. It just so happens that lots of 'available' women like to congregate here. Even the police have to work within a Legal framework (Yes. There are Laws in Indonesia contrary to popular to belief) and can't simply muscle their way in without some sort of reason or cause. I'm not sure they could even put restrictions on freelancers going in without discriminating normal customers? Would they station an officer at the door and ask every girl walking in if she's an Ayam or not? In any case, my point remains that its prudent not to over-expose interesting places out of abundance of caution, as their is a clear trend of some popular places closing down, and a lack of new places that open up to replace them. Nothing is truly invincible, and nothing lasts forever here.

I must be missing your point. How are Stadium and Alexis low hanging fruit relative to other just as popular places like Hotel Classic, Golden Crown, and Malioboro which are still open?

You took the words right out of my mouth. There are places far more in your face than an Alexis which was tucked away in some random corner towards Ancol.

However, people, politicians, local news etc. Always blame the foreigners for Drug, Vices, and other immoral so-called 'Western' behaviors. When locals start seeing lots of Bule entering these places, or hear them discussed in public, it puts pressure on the authorities to flex their muscles, and typically put restrictions or even temporary closures. If you are active in the local Indonesian forums and sub-cultures you would understand this.

The open discussion of Alexis and Stadium in the forums did not 'in itself' cause their closures, but increased its public infamy which was a contributing factor to their demises. For example, it was after some hidden camera pool party videos were leaked, the Alexis Boss got in some heat, they started having way more random raids and searches, and they started doing more thorough body searches and covering cell phone cameras with stickers! So its not a bad idea to exercise some caution when discussing things here, because discretion will certainly never be a reason a place is forced to shut down.

No one else thinks these broken english posts seem like narc fishing posts? Stadium got taken down after the #1 asian hooker porn site showcased it in his videos, Alexis got it after girls bigo live backstage girls and a youtuber posted a video the line ups (his account has since been banned). These may all be coincidences but the places that I frequent are not even on streets with google street view alive and well. It seems like social media negatively effects these hot spots. I long believed that SMART LE would just lurk these forums and scrape information and possibly entrap johns. In the US we have always have to kind of sniff out LE agents looking for intel, but in Phils and Thailand even though its illegal it basically is legal and tolerated. It seems like in Jakarta shutdowns happen and are not a myth. They threatened to shut down Nana plaza in thailand and Walking street in AC for decades. Jakarta seems like they shut shit down regularly. I wanted Jakarta to kind of be my hide away from asshole MMA fighters in thailand and rude korean Angeles city, Jakarta seemed like a great alternative I'm not so sure about that now.

I seem to remember reports stating Stadium was closed by the Jakarta City Administration following the death by overdose of a policeman who partied there.

As for Thailand places get shut down too. You should look at the various huge soapies which got shut down, and / or MPs being receiving heavy fines some being shut down, others still open as long as they pay the heavy fines and remove their online presence.

You have a point, but frankly in Jakarata, where 90% of the mongering population is local, the LE really does not need an American forum to glean information about potential *****houses. They are all open only because the LE allows it. The reasons why Stadium and Alexis and several other places in Jakarta have shut down has little to do with YouTube or Bigo or any other similar platforms.

I am under no dissolution that LE "needs" this to do its job however if a business says it caters to "local customers only" and pays the appropriate protection money for local customers and international forum is a good way to see if these business have an international exposure and to jack up their protection costs and either they pay more protection money or they get shut down to save face. They do seem to shut down low hanging fruit, which is kinda of disconcerting as a hobbyist. Nonetheless at least for now I am still very impressed by the talent available and will continue to partake as long as I am capable of sussing out where the kind of action I'm looking for is.

I agree with this point. Lately in Jakarta, places seem more vulnerable to getting shut down. There are still many places, and I'm no no way concerned about things disappearing overnight, but this does contrast Thailand where activities are more tolerated by the public, and relatively more immune to restrictions and closures. As with any place you need to grease the wheel to keep the machine rolling, however there are boundaries that can't be crossed.

This is my first post in order to know more about Jakarta night life.

Recently, I was talked by the guy who was around Grand Akoya Hotel located near Hotel Travel.

According to that guy, he could arrange some girls in the hotel.

At that time, I didn't accept because I didn't know such system.

Afterward I hit some but very limited information about Grand Akoya Hotel.

Which seams to have some kinds of lounge or bar with girls.

Is anyone familiar with that hotel? Is it safe and fun?

For FL's don't do Classic, Malio, KC. Those are mainly short time places and in my experience GFE is hit or miss. (But still really nice places, just not for FL.).

I've never had a bad night doing this roation:

1. Enzo's (replaced Moonrider): Start here for a beer to get relaxed and flirt with the cute bartenders. Also good to visit with a FL since it's calmer than the neighboring bars..

Jakarta night life is wonderful. I never had any problem getting a company. Once I had been to IT mall to replace my old android phone. After my purchase I had been to have coffee in the top floor. Got connected with a lady in counter (not my type but she is very interested to come in the evening). Few girls sitting and having late lunch smiled, sat with them for a small talk and ordered some food and drinks. Girls were very happy and curious. Got 3 phone numbers just by socialized with them.

Also, The likes of classic, travel are a good option too. Girls are hot and very friendly if you handle them right. I preferred to go Travel hotel because I was tired, staying closely, and wanted to have a drink and relax before the action.

Note: also in the noon enjoyed a massage everyday during my 7 days visit. 20 $ an hour massage. I love Jakarta.
