Earlier this month I was in Jakarta for 2 days. Stayed at Mercure Kota.

Paid the obligatory visit to Classic and managed to get a really good bang for the buck. At 350 K you cannot go wrong. The girl was very co-operative and did everything I wanted in a non-rushed manner. Very happy, tipped her 50 K.

Paid a visit to the spas at Kelapa Gading. King Cross and Sumo. Standard fare. Had a good time at both places. Personally I like Sumo more.

Visited BATS on both nights. On one night I picked a girl who stayed till next afternoon. Paid her 2. 5 juta. The opening quote in the bar was 3. 5 juta and I almost fell off my chair. But the girl would not budge below 2. 5 juta and I wanted her that night. The second night I drew a blank at BATS as I got there rather late after my Kelapa Gading visits. Also, I had an early flight the next day back to Singapore.

I've been to AC and since I was not in a taxi much saw no problems with the cops and don't read much about the bribing of bad cops. Maybe it happens but it seems to me that a lot of the times there it is somewhat deserved.

I live in Mexico so am very aware of corrupt police but from reading this forum it sounds to me much worse or am I only getting part of the story.

In most cases in Mexico if you have done nothing wrong and call their bluff you pay nothing because they don't want to take the time to take you back to the station or even to write a ticket as that is time they could be targeting another sucker who will pay.

I was just curious if this happens all the time or just once in a while and is it almost certain to happen to a gringo tourist?

Can you share some of the areas where you've had success for more remote massage places? Do you mean like around Kota Kasablanka etc?

And as for building a network-- you're saying you have girls you meet at the massage places refer you to friends of theirs?

When I say remote I mean just a few blocks down from the normal haunts. There is a patch of places near the grand asia hotel which I have always had a good time at the only thing is you kinda need to make it a point to get there as there is really no other reason to go to that area there is also a patch near kings cross but I've heard from more than 1 indonesian who lives in Jakarta that for some reason east Jakarta is more rough than the rest of the city I don't know if there is any validility to this statement. Honestly almost every single cultasack in Jakarta has massage places or bording houses in it, it is just a matter of physcialy going there and looking at their girls.

When I say build a network I mean the mama san network. I give them a 50 k note and tell them more is on the way if they pass me some solid intel. And also give my wechat or what's app out to the boarding houses and if they have any lookers to send me a picture it kind of cuts down on the time I spend in some areas if I always have an agent working for me in that area. I also ask them if the shops are open or closed or if they are busy or not. Sometimes these massage places are randomly closed for a few days and I have no idea why. I do also ask for non pros from the girls I find on wechat its kind of hit and miss most of the time the wechat girl is the good looking one. Sometimes the girls will fire back with "you don't like me?" which can be kind of a non starter.

Indonesia (jakarta?) monger pros and cons as I see them.

Pros:

ST is extremely affordable ranges from $24-34 at the current exchange rate. You could possibly visit 5 shops a day and not really break the bank.
Also the more remote the massage places are ive also found that the women are hotter for whatever reason. not all of them offer the same stuff some of the shops have older women 35-50 some are 25-35 and some offer 20-30 the ones where the girls are 20-30 seem to be in more discreet locations. So paying MORE for hotter girls is not always the best move imo sometimes its just location and supply and demand. The hottest girl ive ever been with in indonesia was in this hole in the wall massage place and she was the normal 350,000 i would have paid five times that for that girl. Some of the shops have a line up and some of the shops you need to pick the girls from photoshopped photos. Ive also found that the ones without the line up is where i found hotter girls this may just be a coincidence or the time of day i went.

You have a wide variety of options for venues, personally I do not go the places where ST is 1 mil+ I personally just don't see the point as an american if I want to throw away money I can do it in luxury in las vegas and get more for it imo.

You get propositioned almost everywhere the key is networking these propositions they are after money so building a intel commission based relationship broadens your selection quite a bit. I offer an introduction bounty for any over 20 home body women that need extra cash. 9/10 times this works out best for me.

Agree with some of what you've said-- especially if the 1 jt+ is worth it. For example, at Malio, I've had really good experiences with girls who are as cute and fit in the 400 k range as the 700+ range, if not better.

I am planning a 4-5 day visit in mid November to break up my 30 day Thai vacation but from reading all this about the currupt cops I'm having second thoughts and may go back to AC instead.

Is this a real big problem or does it happen to everyone?

I live in Mexico so am used to corrupt Police but you can usually get out of it by refusing to pay as they don't like to take the time & trouble to take you in.

What are we talking about? A guy who is on the way to his hotel having just arrived at the airport, carrying his original passport, I would have definitely called his bluff till the end. There is no way he would've ended up in jail. As mentioned previously although in general the police is corrupt, even they have their limits.

The whole report to police station is ONLY valid when staying in private accommodation (friends' apartment, airBNB etc, you are not personally required to report yourself if staying in a hotel as the hotel is required by law to do so. Even if they do not, you are not legally liable for the hotels failure to follow the law, nor do you need to carry proof of this report with you. What you do need is proof that you are staying in a hotel.

In saying that, I can understand that someone who is tired, who doesn't speak the language and just wants to get to sleep that they might be inclined to just pay the few bucks, but 500 k to 3 jt is simply too much.

I have gotten pulled over many, many times over the years, I have not paid a single bribe over 100 k ever, even during the 4 am razia coming home from clubbing and barely able to drive straight with a LC who was sucking me off in the car 10 seconds before being pulled over.

My passport is getting very full. It seems the Indo visa is a full page sticker rather than a little stamp. Is this right?

If your nationality is allowed a free 30 day Visa on Arrival, it's just one stamp on arrival and another on departure. Note this visa cannot be extended.

A paid 60 day extendable visa is a full page label.

Although you can have 2 shots with the two girl within the 1 hour 30 minutes, the girls mentioned it is done either one at a time or both together. If you're from the States, and your stay is under thirty days, a visa isn't required.
