I found out that you are right, and checking my notes; I paid 1 m and 1.3 m for st and LT in 2019.

I've been following the news on this, and the sources aren't consistent. I've read everything from the law will come into effect 30 days after Jokowi signs it, to only after three years. Bloomberg has done some good reporting on this, and I think their answer may be the best (see below). I'll show a couple of links below, but they may be behind a paywall. Some highlights -

Anyone engaged in sex outside of marriage may face up to one year in prison or fines.

Police can only prosecute people based on official complaints made by their parent, child or spouse. Presumably this would prevent couples who are tourists from being prosecuted. An Indonesian Minister said "If people from Australia want to go on a holiday in Bali, and they want to stay in the same room whatsoever, that is their personal matter. Unless there's a complaint by their parents in Australia, which is not their culture."

The new law doesn't address prostitution, but banning extramarital sex effectively makes prostitution illegal.

There will be a three-year transition period until the law is fully in place, as the government must draft implementing regulation.

Each province in Indonesia can enforce their own laws based on the code. So you might have differences between, say, more liberal Bali, and someplace like Aceh which has Shariah law.

Thanks for the clarification, Reuters news that I referred didn't have mention of the going into effect until 2025, but I was able to confirm on other news outlet that it will indeed go into effect in 2025.

I see your point, this could be used easily to trap tourist and extort money. It seems like they tried to pass similar version in 2019 but due to protest it didn't get passed. Lets hope same thing repeats again. If not, I will have to shelve my plan to visit JAK temporarily and wait / watch fall out from this new law.

After my Sugar Spa trip, I decided to check out Kings Cross. Looked at my Grab app to see how long it will take and how much, approx 35 minutes at 66 K rupiah. Not too bad and decided to head out there. Getting around Jakarta with Grab is very simple and cheap. What people probably have forgotten here is that, Indonesia is the most populous Muslim country in the world. Muslim majority in Indonesia is 87%. While majority are moderate, there are still a sizeable number of religious extremists that would want to see the sharia law to be implemented in Indonesia. There are so many boarding schools those who have been brainwashed since there were in early age to carry their vision. Just see how many suicide bomb cases have happened in Indonesia. It is entirely a different case with other countries in Asia. Some parties, politicians want their votes in the general election.

The problem here these sorts of extremists group will never rest, but they keep Moving forward. Sharia Law has been implemented in Aceh, special province of Indonesia. Do they stop there?

The consequences of this newly passed bonking law will not just effect mongers and prossies, but other parties as well. Think about people in civil partnership, LGBT which are coming from catchment areas of tourism. While in their own countries they are legally protected to live together, to sleep in the same accommodation, it might not be the case when they travel to Indonesia. I see your point Goferring, as prostitution was already illegal, what was the need for them to pass this new law? My only concern is with the independent providers as they could scam the tourist, so will need to be careful.
