As has been said many times, all hotels (barring Syariah hotels like Sofyan) are pretty much girl friendly. Having said that, walking with a girl obviously dressed "for the job" does attract more attention in some places than others. Try sending your girl down in Mulia at 8:30/9am and see what I mean. That being said, no one gives you any hassle. As for Harris at FX, a quick google search suggests no in house massage (http://fx-jakarta.harrishotels.com/Activities/) but if your eyes are open, there are many opportunities everywhere in Jakarta.

I am sure you have read many reports and here is another one. I highly recommend using JAD's service when in Jakarta. WOW. What a GREAT Guy! Met me at exactly 7PM in my hotel. Prior to leaving hotel he explained in detail where we will go and all the places he will take me. Unbelievable! I am not going to bore you with all the details. Hit the usual spots, Blok M. Top Gun, Maliobor, Classic Terminal, Hotel Travel, etc, etc. He provided pricing details. How things worked in each place. Definitely NOT a clock watcher. Never even hinted that we were already past the aloted time of tour. Class Act.

I absolutely recommend to any coming into Jakarta to use his service.

He is a great guy, and a good friend. I'm grateful that I took that tour many years back.

As for the usual North vs South debate, it really is a case of personal preference. I've long since moved into the dating market over there and am very happy. No BS and they know you're not being faithful to them either. One of my current ones now has a new BF but will willingly meet me (even if he's around) and stay over if he's away. It does involve some time on the internet (doesn't being in ISG do the same?) and it would be advisable to have a BB and mobile YM/Whatsapp to keep in touch with them. Not surprisingly you do get the full GFE because they consider themselves to be a GF even if they know they are really TTMs.

I have no idea whether FX is girlfriendly and massage being offered or not, but on the other hand I have not heard of any hotel giving any serious trouble to guys bringing back girls to their rooms. I am sure other bros here who have tried it will have more appropriate answers.

As far as pickup joints, you have a bar disco next door called Red Square, near the plaza senayan, very busy on weekends, then there is another disco inside Plaza Senayan, upstairs, called X something, then not too far from there, basically within walking distance, there is the Mulia hotel with CJ's bar and disco. If you look through the forum you will find info on all 3 places. Maybe there are more new ones now.

I have learnt today that there are MP's called Myplace which offer massage ++, I. E. FJ, and there seems to be one in Senayan. You can google it for the address and phone number. If you try it, please give us a feedback.

Then last, and only 2 busway stops away, you have all that Blok M has to offer.

Could not find any information that looks correct on how much wine / liquor that a person can bring into indo when there on a short visit. Can anyone she some light? I know that these products are avaiable but I prefer some of own local stuff when I travel, usually bringing 1 or 2 bottles for myself and maybe some hard liquor as well. Is the prices for alcohol comparable to my purchasing in duty free?

I used to bring liquor and wine into Jakarta without any problems, sometimes up to 4 bottles in the checked suitcase plus one or two in the hand carried one. The trick I believe is to talk nicely to the custom officer and just say that they are not for you but for friends, I used the indo word "Teman teman" meaning many friends. They never said anything or ask to pay any fine. Try it.

1 Liter is allowed. I have been lucky and managed 1 bottle 1. 5 liters, but they scan the bags and can see if you have more and they mark with an X in chock and then they ask you to open so they can inspect.

If your smart about it you can generally get 4-5 bottles per person per trip. Put no more than two bottles in each checked bag. As stated the X-ray machine will pick up but they don't always put the chalk marh. If your bag has a chalk mark take a damp towel and wipe off before exiting by customs. Then put one bottle in your carry on. When leaving through customs you'll need to put your hand carry through the X-ray. If they see a bag with a single bottle I've never been stopped. In other words there is no attempt to match up all the bags going through the X-ray machine with individuals. So if you have two carryons with a bottle each they generally are not watching to see if those two bags are with the same person. When you buy your duty free have them split up so only one bottle per bag. When you go through customs put one inside your carryon which will go through the X-ray and the other carry by itself or put in the trolley. In all my years here if they see its a clear duty free bag with a bottle they do not require you to put through the X-ray machine, worse case they do but as previously stated the guy watching the X-ray machine doesn't try to match each item to a individual. So in my case with a family of 3 and two checked bags each its not difficult to get 15-18 bottles per trip. Of course you always run the risk of being singled out but a few well placed rp100k notes will generally solve that. If your really paranoid a family of 3-4 can split up so if singled out you only have a portion of your loot to explain / pay for.

Menteng, I admire your anthropological curiosity. The same article I mentioned earlier said that the girls don't work in their own kampung, it would "bring shame upon the family". They are expected to go far enough away so that everyone can pretend that they don't know. Apparently, Idul Fitri is quite an event, with the girls all trying to show off who's been earning the most, renting a nice car with a driver to make a grand entrance, covering themselves in gold jewellery that they then sell, and so on.

And in Blok M for example many's the time a girl will contemptuously refer to another girl as "Indramayu". The irony being that the girls from Probolingo or Semarang selling their snatch's on the Blok consider themselves further up the social ladder than their compatriots from Indramayu.

I don't know about "social ladder". But I tend to prefer the girls from Central Java and East Java. Just seem to be more fun and to give better service. They're a mixed bunch in Berlian and Ibu Linda's, from all over the archipelago. But the ones there are also mostly a few years older than you are, young lad.
