I am going out for Holidays but am not sure which one to choose, the traveling cost for me is high if I go to Bali, Lower if I go to Jalarta and Lowest if I go to Cambodia. Good idea to skip Kimochi Mabes. I only visited once and my feedback is:

+ This is a high volume place and the locals are primary Customers.
+ You have to choose a girl by looking at photographs; I hate this.
+ The girl I choose was polite. But she was firm on her rules: no fingering, condom required, no french kissing etc etc.

While I don't disagree with your points, actually my experience there was fairly positive still (note: dating back to, I want to say 2015 or so though). I had deliberately chosen the then famous "Number 33", who was known primarily for her voluminous breasts. The service in general was decent, but not great, but she did enthusiastically demand a finish on those breasts and did not disappoint in making that happen.

However, as mentioned all of your points in my experience are valid -and there are of course plenty of similar choices in Jakarta. For my next visit I will be focusing on Kelapa Gading area for similar establishments.

Not sure about Kartika nowadays, last time I visited pre-covid the women may have had teenage children or adults (not babies!) going by the age of some working there. It never stopped me going there however, your many posts of the place and Cynthia encouraged me to visit there in the first place. Was my favorite place for many years. I agree about the girls from Indramayu. In fact if I ever asked where they came from that was the answer in most cases.

I visited Kartika in the spring of 2018 for the first time since 2009, many of the girls from those days were still working there and surprisingly remembered me and greeted me by name.

Luckily I was pretty fluent in Bahasa by that time, good since the driver spoke no English, so I was able to have a decent conversation. Took a ton of photos and gave Cynthia's mother 2 million rupiah for the 3-year-old son, took a full family portrait and a photo of Cynthia's framed photo which was on the wall. I then walked over to her gravesite to take pictures.

Back in Jakarta, I brought my laptop with me to my next visit to Kartika and spent the first 30 minutes showing my photos to the ladies in 3 different groups and answering their questions (luckily it was mid-afternoon and there weren't a lot of customers). Cynthia had worked at Kartika for over 3 years and had been close with many of the girls, so I apparently bought a lot of goodwill from making that visit. I also received some nice comments here on ISG although that's not why I posted about my visit.

Having just booked my flights to Jakarta for the first time in 5 years the "holiday buzz" is just kicking in (despite still being about 2 months away) and reading through a few of the last pages brings back fond memories from exploits of the past.

It is good to see that it seems while obviously time may take its toll and some things have changed, that the city remains a hidden gem if you know how to navigate its challenges. In previous visits / stays my main "hunting grounds" ended up to be Classic, the occasional massage joint (tried Puri Sehat a few times, Kimochi Mabes, Orchardz etc.) and the occasional visit to BATS / CJs.

P.S.: a sincere thank you to the regular contributors in this thread. While I do consider myself as reasonably knowledgeable (even though far from some of the esteemed members) of the scene in Jakarta this level of contribution brings back memories and was one (of many) reasons why I chose to spend some extra time in the Big Durian again.

It is good to see that it seems while obviously time may take its toll and some things have changed, that the city remains a hidden gem if you know how to navigate its challenges. In previous visits / stays my main "hunting grounds" ended up to be Classic, the occasional massage joint (tried Puri Sehat a few times, Kimochi Mabes, Orchardz etc.) and the occasional visit to BATS / CJs.

This time around Kelapa Gading is up on the priority list of "new" things to try, next to some of the known areas and possibly a few tinder dates if I feel I need some variation.

Not really a report, not really a question, but the aforementioned "holiday buzz" and reading through a few pages left me keen to leave a note Looking forward to see what else has changed in the last 5 years.
