Haha, yeah, I assume those one are just keeping up appearances. A year or so ago I was regularly seeing a 40-something MILF with a career who was a freebie from a dating site. An admirably efficient system, I too adopt a (semi) honest approach making it clear that I am a happily married man who is simply looking to make friends, that probably rules me out of the running for about 85% of the girls but the remaining 15% are more than enough to be getting along with.

I have said it before, I enjoy pushing the envelope but even for me Kalijodo was as far as I would go (and I backed off that), the blue-tarp scene in Manggerai would be right off my radar.

Other railway-related pick up spots are around Jatinegara, near the prison helpfully, and around Tanah Abang. Neither are particularly appealing in my opinion and not really bule-friendly, although not especially threatening either.

How much do you pay them for how long of time?

Varies widely. I try to stick to around 500 for short time when negotiating, don't always get that low, sometimes I can't be bothered haggling over the last 100, and if they paid their own taxi I try to cover that as well. Also if they had to travel a long way (I remember one that took the train in from Bogor) and made me happy I will throw in a bit extra. Negotiate hard and then pay extra delivers dividends in the friends of friends department. LT I aim for the 700 or 800 mark, but again depends on the girl, and if I can be bothered sticking to my guns. One girl got to my soft spot and I was giving her 1.2 juta for all nighters. The area spills over from the ladyboy areas on the other side of the bridge and from Jl Cimahi eastwards, its mostly women. Its very low end, catering mostly to local workers and I have been told that sex is sold for as little as Rp 50,000. I have sat at one of the open air warungs by the train line and had a beer, watching the comings and goings and was assured by the people working there that is was safe. I'm quite big, speak more than enough Bahasa Indonesian and am fairly street wise, but would hesitate to go to Bongkaran. If you do go, have a local friend go with you at the very least. The "dating" scene is changing too. Things are moving mobile, as in mobile phones. For me (not saying this applies to everybody) pick up p4 p joints like blok M / BATS / CJs gave way to dating websites and instant messengers like yahoo / msn. I don't post a lot of reports here anymore even though I have been visiting more and more, because I pretty much follow the same script every trip. The "students" I used to pick up were usually the result of my number doing the rounds among a certain self-selecting group. Hey, no complaints, it cut right to the chase and saved a lot of LEG (laying essential groundwork) work.

1) What is the maximum you can take out from ATM at one time?

8 million to 10 million rupiah.

2) Which Banks ATM are best, meaning having the most around and most reliable.

All bank ATMS are safe, the biggest problems are generally the smaller unknown brands you may find in a mini-mart, I wouldn't trust them unless in a jam.

3) Are all Jakarta bank ATM fees the same or are some better than others.

I think the only difference is. If its your bank then no fees, if it is another banks the fee is between 3,500 and 7,500, I have found most hit me with 7,500.

4) is there a max number of time you can withdraw from ATM in a day?

Don't know, but if you use the above 8 million, then that's 4 withdrawls.

Most ATMS dispense max 1. 25 m in 50,000 notes or max 2. 5 m in 100,000 notes. 8 million in your pocket is a big old wad of cash. Put it down your pants if you goto a dodgy nightclub and youll get lots of attention.

Sama, all are english as the first option. Look for 'tunai', 'non-tunai is for transfers / payments only. Not cash dispensing.

1. Oakwood isn't in the action. 30 min taxi ride to CJ's, BATS and a little further to blokM.

I normally stay at JW Marriott right across the street from Oakwood. CJs or Blok M will be about 30 minutes at night, but BATS is only 10 to 15 minutes. It's extremely close. Take that same road mentioned to go to Fortune massage that passes LE Meridien and just keep going straight rather than stopping at Fortune massage. When you get to the light, take a right and Shangri-La is right there. There's another route via Rasuna Said that's even faster but more difficult to explain. North Jakarta will take an hour depending on where in North Jakarta you would like to go and time of day. Personally, I like staying in that area where the Oakwood is located. I consider that to be central Jakarta. If you are planning on only hitting the brothels in North Jakarta, Mercure at Harmoni is a much better selection. But for hitting places like BATs, CJs and Blok M, I think it's fine. Especially BATS. Don't try going anywhere at 5 pm though. But nowhere in the city is good traffic at 5 pm. You can walk to Mal Ambassador or Lotte Mall from Oakwood. Ambassador has pirate DVDs and software and cheap items. It also has a Carrefour in it and another mall next door with restaurants such as Outback Steakhouse. Lotte Mall has some very nice restaurants. Belaggio also has restaurants and that sports bar. Cazbar is also a popular expat bar within walking distance. The Sunday brunch at JW Marriott is awesome. Loewy is the most popular restaurant in town for hot chicks in sexy dresses. All of those are within short walking distance. Unless you want to go to the brothels in North Jakarta, what's not to like?

Very good point on being able to pick up students at After Hours. That is one place where there is a chance. I've never picked one up there, but there are often very hot students there and they are often drunk.

Good to see you have done your RTFF, ,why comments.

1. Oakwood isn't in the action. 30 min taxi ride to CJ's, BATS and a little further to blokM. A decent distance to North Jakarta. Its a very nice place with an awesome bar / resto downstairs called Loewey (look it up on 100 bars website) . If you lineup any girls from DateInAsia etc, you can definately meet them there, it also has a good degree of very classy non hookers and classy freelancers, I am sure with a keen eye you can spot them. Not alot of spas near there that I know of, there is a Fortune behind LeMerdien not too far (on the elevated Toll Smoothy mentioned) , also some massage spas in the BlokM area in the Grand Wijaya centre (Delta, MyPlace, Fortune, Cherry) - but its not that close, maybe 30 mins at 9 pm or 1 HR at peak hour.

2. I recommend taxis, they are cheap and clean. Opt for the white express or blue bluebird. If the traffic is really bad and it isn't raining, look for a sign saying Ojek or Ojeg, or somebody saying 'ojek mister'. Price is no cheaper than taxis, but far quicker, up to you to do your own risk assessment (FYI, I suggest 20 k for 10-15 mins, 40 k for 20-30 mins riding), I am ok with them personally but for long trips it is tiring on the back.

3. Near Oakwood is Cazbar, stumbling distance. Aphrodite, a short Ojek ride (look them both up on 100 bars Jakarta website). Show all EPL games, especially Aphrodite (you'll find discreet p4 p there too).

4. None like Pattaya. Top Gun in BlokM has 1 table and old ugly female sharks playing, plus DS place has a pooltable, and Everest does in Blokm. Including Smoothys comment below about Sarinah (where you should be able to find a student. If you time it right), you can also try Jalan Jaksa, there are a few bars that are open air, cheap beer, seedy But nothing like Pattaya. I don't know of much else, pooltables arent my scene.

5. Bundung, Jogjakarta. Both university towns. Remember most of the local girls in Jakarta are used to seeing old white guys, so if you want to spend time with students got to go somewhere where you are still a bit unique. IMHO. Bundung rates in that area for me, but your here for a short holiday and it might be more difficult.

6. 3 am BATS and CJs, BlokM bars, occasionally later at the Blok (especially myBar). North Jakarta 3 am and 5 am and all day (the more drugs their clientèLE takes, the later they stay open) - depends on the venue. Most massage parlours often close at 11 pm, or might have last booking 10 pm.

7. the only side trip I would do is Bali. Unless you really want to see orangutangs, and yes many girls would be happy to accpmany you to Bali, good call here in my opinion. But you might have to do some groundwork before you arrive in country for this.

Having booked my first trip to Jakarta, and having read back through the forum at least 20 pages (and also looked at the hotels thread), I have a few of questions which I am hoping knowlegeable members might be kind enough to help me with.

1. I am thinking of staying at the Oakwood Premier Cozmo which has good reviews on a well-known review site. I am assuming this place is a good choice and is girl-friendly, but if anyone has any information to the contrary I would be grateful to know now rather than later. Also if anybody thinks the location of this place is all wrong, I would be very interested to know. I appreciate there are major problems with traffic in Jakarta, but since this is a vacation-only visit, I probably won't be doing much in the daytime anyway. I will just be going out later in the evening. I am not really a clubbing type (too old), so I am assuming I will mainly be going to BATS, CJs, Blok M, etc from about 9 pm onwards. I also appreciate that some of the spas / MPs (for example Travel, Alexis) are quite a long way from the Oakwood, so if anybody can recommend any good spas / MPs which are more central that would be great.

2. Question regarding transport: do members tend to use the motorcycle taxis, or are they not really recommended? I have used them in Bangkok and they saved a lot of time, but obviously they aren't ideal if it is raining, and there is of course a risk of serious injury!!

3. Thirdly, are there any recommended sports bars which show English Premier League?

4. I quite like places where you can play pool (or billiards as it is called in some countries in Asia) in the kind of atmosphere you get in Pattaya beer bars (I. E. With girls around the place as well). Does anybody know if there any bars of this type in Jakarta, and if so are there any you would recommend?

5. Another question. I have a penchant for students, ideally ones who speak some English (but then, who doesn't? Any additional information about how and where I might meet student types would be much appreciated.
