Its been 2 years to Jakarta, coming next week. Is the Be fashion spa still providing the package massage esp tiger claw? If not, any other Spa recommendation with blissful service? Guidance is appreciated.

Based on experience and applying a theoretical 100 k tip, there are a number of factors which influence how well (or poorly) the tip is received.

Variables include:

1. The quality of the establishment.

2. The rapport built between the two parties (party be being polite and making Party A laugh).

3. The gap size in age and physical appearance of the two parties (the bigger the gap, the bigger the tip required to satiate Party A).

4. Indonesian language fluency (outward indicator of local knowledge and adds to rapport building).

If you can work 3 out of those 4 variables in your favour, then a 100 k tip is at most warmly received and at least, accepted without fuss.

People occasionally make this point about spoiling the market by paying too much. I find it very difficult to understand that logic. At the places we are discussing, the basic price is non-negotiable, and the tip is up to the customer. The effect of what you see as high tipping by some bule should then logically be that the girls give better service to other bule in the hope of getting a similarly high tip again. So the higher tipper is in fact subsidizing the low tipper. Not ruining the market.

Concerning claims about 100 k being normal, I can't remember ever having been with a girl at one of these establishments who would be happy with such a tip. As far as I can see, expectations are clearly higher. Personally I don't think paying a total of 47 USD including tip for ok sex with a 19 year old with a perfect body is expensive.

I agree if she does a total starfish, you can tip less, 100 or 200 k. But I would only tip 0 she is actually aggressive or quarrelsome.

Sorry if my post was not clear. I am not telling people how much to tip. I will be visiting Jakarta later this year and I'm asking for clarification about how much to tip.

Information on tipping posted here is confusing. I don't want to over tip but I want to give the girl a fair reward if her service is good.

I agree. The minimum tip information doesn't make sense. But after reading about it in a recent post, I did a search and found that other people had also posted about it. Only about Malioboro. Where does this minimum tip information come from? As I said before, the information is confusing but this forum is my main source of information.

Management has no expectation for how much you should tip. It is an issue to be resolved between you (your willingness to pay) and the girl (her performance) and ultimately it is up to you.

As I have written here before, I find it highly advantageous to be transparent tell her before the session: "good service, good tip; very good service, very good tip; very, very good service, very very good tip. Bad service, no tip". This doesn't always work, but often it does and it has sometimes given me some unbelievable performances. If she has a feeling you are a cheap charlie, she is going to be much less likely to put in a good effort.

Do you state the amount that you are prepared to tip or just leave it at no tip, good tip, very good tip?

If Malioboro management expect customers to pay a minimum 300 k tip, then they must expect their girls to provide a decent standard of service.

This way the girls have an incentive to perform well, which is in everybody's interest. But remember she makes almost nothing from the basic fee, most of that goes to the establishment. So almost all of her income comes from whatever you decide to tip her. 300 k IDR is 21 US $. Plus maybe 10 US $ or something like that from the basic fee. That is not a lot of money for letting a stranger, usually older and less attractive guy, use your body. And of course the girls come from poverty and need every cent.
