Posts: 920People might have missed the bigger picture
What people probably have forgotten here is that, Indonesia is the most populous Muslim country in the world. Muslim majority in Indonesia is 87%. While majority are moderate, there are still a sizeable number of religious extremists that would want to see the sharia law to be implemented in Indonesia. There are so many boarding schools those who have been brainwashed since there were in early age to carry their vision. Just see how many suicide bomb cases have happened in Indonesia. It is entirely a different case with other countries in Asia. Some parties, politicians want their votes in the general election.
The problem here these sorts of extremists group will never rest, but they keep Moving forward. Sharia Law has been implemented in Aceh, special province of Indonesia. Do they stop there?
The consequences of this newly passed bonking law will not just effect mongers and prossies, but other parties as well. Think about people in civil partnership, LGBT which are coming from catchment areas of tourism. While in their own countries they are legally protected to live together, to sleep in the same accommodation, it might not be the case when they travel to Indonesia. The Hotels might ask them to produce a marriage certificate fear of helping to commit crime.
Not to mention the possibility of extortion, and settlement pay with police outside the system.
Recently revealed the Indonesian hihg ranking policemen in the police force. They might belong to be one of the most corrupt police force in the world.

Posts: 86I see your point Goferring, as prostitution was already illegal, what was the need for them to pass this new law? My only concern is with the independent providers as they could scam the tourist, so will need to be careful. Personally, I have put hold on JAK (moved it to bottom of my list of sex mongering destination) and will watch out how it turns out in the next few months.
Folks who are visiting please continue reporting and keep us updated. Thanks.

Please clarify:
Are you saying the new law will be applicable at some point in the next 3 years?
In other words, is there a 3 year time window for the new law to take effect or be applicable?
OR
Is this new law already applicable but only valid for the next 3 years?
Thanks,

The new law could still come under challenge in the courts, it's not set in stone yet.
Also. The offence can only be reported by a parent, spouse or child. The good news about that is that banging someone's wife will finally become an act of bravery. The bad news, it will inflate prices and add another way to the repertoire of scammers, many a tourist may get caught out in the rain.
But seriously, it's a stupid fundamentalist move, it will hurt tourism, people's rights (think about the LGBT community) and the economy.

"Sex outside marriage will carry a jail term of up to a year under the new laws, which take effect in three years."
So we have 3 years to continue the barebacking and fornication.

Stated in the article. My planned trip in January will be the last time I visit, if the law is implemented and enforced.

Posts: 86Indonesia law banning sex outside marriage passed
https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-p...de-2022-12-06/
I thought it was 12/15 was when they were planning to pass the law, but seems like they passed it today. Not only it bans sex outside marriage, but even bans living together without marriage. Upto a year of jail (it does say law has been little watered down, as to who can report the offence such as spouse, parents or child). Since this law is applied for both the Indonesian citizens and tourist, I am curios if they are going to make hotels require proof of marriage certificates? This is absurd in every angle. Forget about sex toursim, normal couple who are just living together cannot visit Indonesia then. I am assuming / hoping this to have backlash from tourist industry.
Majority of Bali's economy depends on tourism, with this stupid ban all the business related to tourism will suffer a lot.
I still don't understand how this will affect and shape places like Classic, Malio, . That are very obvious why they exists. For now, JAK is off of my list of places to visit for sex mongering (rather temporary hold until they figure out).

Posts: 248Fortune Spa Review. Central Area
Gents,
I took one for the teams and went to Fortune Spa this weekend. Its a very central location. Its basic across the busy streets from LE Meridian hotel. Close to all corporate buildlings. The outside it looks very run down / sketchy. But when you get inside the place, its quite modern. You are greeted by the front desk and some beautiful thin hostess girls. They have different price ranges. From what I garners, the price range from 850 K for massage (plus you tip girl). And 1. 6 M-2. 5 M for everything included. Because I had short time I went for massage. With assumption I could pay tips later for more actions.
Then you enter a large lobby / karoke room with many different sofas and sitting areas. Here the hostess will take your order for drinks. At this point, I asked hostess to see massage ladies. I think usually they show photos on phone. After about 15 minutes, she arrange for showing. There were about 10 ladies. Ranges between 5-7 out of ten. Nothing specular, slightly bigger womens. I think this many because I only get massage. I did see on other sofas more attractive ladies with their johns.
I select one with a prettyier face that others. Great face, slightly bigger below waist Then the hostess takes upstairs to the room. The lobby looks dark and modern. The room looks like typical asian brothel room. Toilet, shower, mattress on floor for massage. Massue gives me a subpar massage, but with incredibles ball teasting and touching. Was amazing. Then on the flip, she asks - 300 K tip for hand, 600 k for sex in cash. I only wanted hand, so agreed. She took off her top. Let me suck her nice firm, soft skin breast and jerked me for few minutes before climax. After finish, she gave some more massage. And then I left.
On the way out, very easy check out. No mamasan or attendents asking for tip. I pay for my water, and my massage. And left. Felt safe the entire time.
Very good experience. I wish I could take the hostesses, because they are skinny, pretty and in heels. She said that weekends are the quiet, but the weekdays are crowded. Lots of after after work crowd. I didn't get chance to check out relax sauna and cold pool. But next time.
I will be back. I like selecting 850 K massage and then pay girl direct for extras. But I wante someone hotter next time.
Enjoy friends.

I see your point, this could be used easily to trap tourist and extort money. It seems like they tried to pass similar version in 2019 but due to protest it didn't get passed. Lets hope same thing repeats again. If not, I will have to shelve my plan to visit JAK temporarily and wait / watch fall out from this new law.

This article makes interesting reading. Especially the caveat of "sex outside marriage, which can only be reported by limited parties such as close relatives. ".
So I have now decided to step away from the young athlete that I used to shag for nothing and has just got married. She still wants to catch up for fun. Can just imagine the fun if that law is introduced and her husband and her decide to scam me with threats of going to the police. There's safer fun to be had.

Worked in Indonesia 2014. Visited in 2018 & 2019. Arriving March 13,2023 staying in Jakarta and mongering for a week.
Then taking Indo Girlfriend to Bali for a week.
Best time to travel from Jakarta to Bali?
The day before Ramadan starts? The day of? The day after?
That's my general window to travel.
Thanks for the advice.
Cheers, Bob.

Does Indonesia have official moral police? Just curious how they are planning to enforce it? If it vote gets approved, I am afraid if they would go further in enforcing restrictions on businesses that facilitate massage / sex.
