Just as a matter of interest Bro Bulai ( and also Bro MS), do you guys never use a credit card while in Indonesia or is the danger of scams, in your assessment, restricted to mongering joints especially Bordello Spas/MPs. I have never used the card in places such as Kartika, Hotel Travel etc. and used it at the Alexis because its almost like any three/four star hotel, places where I pay with my card (when not mongering) and felt that the the risk of such an establishment scamming me was low.

As far as paper trails are concerned, I concur with your caution because, as Oyenk points out if the itemized bill gets to be seen by your wife, the shit will, most certainly, hit the roof.

I rarely use a credit card in Indonesia, except for buying my weekly groceries at the SOGO Food Hall in Plaza Indonesia, for buying air tickets at my travel agency, and for paying for hotels when I travel to Bali, Yogyakarta, etc.

Unfortunately the theft or credit cards and/or credit card numbers is rampant in Indonesia, so I try to minimize my card use as much as possible. Even if the merchant is honest, the card number can be compromised elsewhere, such as at the processing bank. Earlier in 2008 a prominent Jakarta bank announced that over 15,000 credit cards numbers (including one belonging to me) had been stolen by one of its employees. Luckily nothing had been charged on my card but I still had to cancel my card and arrange to have a new one sent to me from the U.S.

My concerns about using a card at a place like Kartika is both the risk of having the number stolen and a new fake card made up, but more importantly the potential risk of having something like "Kartika Massage Spa" or "Ambassador Gentlemen's Club" appear on the monthly statement - guaranteed to cause problems on the home front!

Solution - pay cash, there's no paper trail, and it's safer.

Sorry, but in my humble opinion, a monger would be crazy to use a credit card at this place or any MP/spa/etc. in Jakarta, both because of the risk of having your credit card number stolen & misused, and also why leave a paper trail of one's illicit activities?

Local credit card provider have very good system for their user and I have never been scammed me before so far, what makes me more afraid is the interes.

That's why the girls coming to Jakarta will try to buy a Jakartan KTP. That this (illegal) KTP is not cheap, is obvious.

In the room, to check if what she had said about her age, name, religion etc. Was true I asked to see her KTP just by pretending I wanted to see a picture of her when she was younger. For the name it was ok but not for the age (43 instead of 26) neither for the religion (muslim but pretended to be catholic, maybe she thought it's more suitable when it comes to hook a bule) and the picture. Wasn't hers. Definitely not. Fake or bought KTP for sure.

She said that actually her face had changed since she became a bit overweight. I pretended to believe her and we had a great night until 4 a. M. Each I mentioned taxi money she was replying that she was not a prostitute. Once we got dressed and ready to go I insisted "how much she wanted for the taxi".

The real answer eventually came: . 500 Krp. And yes of course she's no prostitute. A freebie in MyBar. What a naive man I was.

Please search back to last September and read the posts by Oyenk and me (among others) about what's available during Ramadan.

Many of the girls who normally work at Maribaya Spa (the 6th Floor of Hotel Melawai) usually team up and rent a group of the regular hotel rooms on the 6th floor of Hotel Melawai during the first 3 weeks or so of Ramadan. I had some great two-girl sessions there last year that lasted up to 2 hours and still cost less than two house fees at Maribaya. Will try to PM you some mobile numbers if I can find them.

There is still some night life at Jalan Falatehan as well.

I agree and don't usually leave a paper trail but I have an outside Indonesia credit card account and have, at times, used it where it appears as a cryptic GAH which seems to refer to the hotel's previous name- Grand Ancol Hotel. Have done it in an emergency when I didn't have enough cash at hand but knowing that I can use it allows me to at least contemplate the possibility that in case I decide to have a threesome with one of the imports I can do so.Lol!!!

But yes, your advice about exercising prudence is good and should be heeded by all.

You are lucky to be staying near the Alexis, which is IMHO the most user friendly high-end bordello spa in Jakarta...

You change and go down the stairs after you've finished (you may wish to tip the locker room boy 5 or 10k) and surrender the token wrist band to the cashier who will then tell you the total damages. These range approx. from 1 million to 1.7 million depending on the girl chosen, the tip and other services and drinks that you might have had. You can pay by cash or by credit card including Amex. Once you have paid, the girl gives you a card saying 'Paid' that you have to surrender to the guard before you take the lift down. The valet parking guy in the front of the lobby will call a taxi for you if you want and expects a tip.

Recently finding myself at a loose end one afternoon I decided to take a trip 9/11 Jalan Industri. I arrived and wandered around the place but couldn't for the life of me locate any of the knocking shops, one security guard pointed out a doorway to me where stood a distinctly older chicken who seemed to be operating on her own, not what I was looking for at all. I went back down to the street where an ojek driver who recognised me from a couple of months back told me the place was closed, shut down after a raid apparently.

Then last Saturday I went along to TC to watch the late afternoon titty show and was most disappointed to find out the place was half empty and the dancers were keeping their clothes on. I later heard from a friend about the recent raid at TC (I had already heard about the unorthodox strip show the previous Sunday, a mama had said some of the non-professional, younger dancers at the club had been encouraged to give it a go) hence the police crackdown.

The place is designed for its Arab clientele, but I quite like the decor and the layout. IMO it's better than that of say CJ's or Bats, easily.. more comfy. better spaced out for better people watching too in certain respects.
