A nice upgrade to a suite, fruit and drinks and a free mini-bar made the first night a bit more relaxing.

No problem with your question, it's actually a good one.

The Blue Bird Group has several parts, including Blue Bird (regular taxis), Silver Bird (slightly more expensive taxis, nicer car, driver speaks some English), Golden Bird and even Big Bird.

Golden Bird is the part that leases automobiles on a longer-term basis, such as monthly. Most of their clients are corporate, some clients lease autos for their personal use. The car most often leased is the Toyota Kijang (seats 7 people).

Big Bird is the arm that rents various bus-sized vehicles. The latest TV commercial for the Blue Bird Group shows a group of 20 or so primary-school children running through a grassy field and climbing onto a Big Bird bus, with a smiling driver, no sign of any adult chaperones or other supervisors.

I'm not sure if Golden Bird provides any vehicles at the airport for transport into town? but it's probably not worth worrying about. Unless you are travelling with a large group or have a lot of luggage, or are travelling from the airport to a far-away destination outside Jakarta (such as Bogor), Blue Bird or Silver Bird should be fine.

Golden Bird is a limousine service provided by the Blue Bird group. Would cost you 368k from airport to your hotel. Unless you wish to arrive like a VIP, then Silverbird is a better option.

I arrived in JKT yesterday afternoon, after a hellishly long 2 stop flight from the US. Still it was better than my normal 3 or 4 stop journey that used to include a night in Singapore.

My hotel rate included a free Silverbird ride to the hotel, and I was pleased to see that they're using some Mercedes now, which I got. Since the hotel is close to the tollway, I didn't even have to be stuck in traffic for hours!

I forgot to mention that the Mulia now offers massage up to 2.00am, although I think the last call is at 1.30am - the girls apparently work in 4 shifts.

I think it's a real good idea, as it gives one the option of being tucked in when all other avenues are fruitless ... but, then again, there's CJs downstairs.

Seems like there's been some changes.

I'm staying at Mulia this week. Just called for in-room massage, no one picking up at spa center, call forwarded to reception, who politely told me that in room massage is only available from 7am to 10pm. The guest services book still prominently displays the 7am-2am hours for in-room service - so I guess someting must have happened very recently.

Check out some of the posts written by Oyenk in late 2007 about the best massage places, including Puri Sehat, etc.

If you're still in town, try Kartika for a two-girl soapy massage, well worth the money @ 250,000 house fee per girl, plus two tips - great combo of massage plus FS.
