Guys
I'm comming from Bangkok to Jakarta early January and was wondering does anybody know the latest info on visas, can I get one two or three months on arrival? Have been looking at the Jakarta girls via the net chatsites and hell it looks like a smorgasboard there! Looking forward to catching up with some of you guys when I arrive.

Posts: 6I'm an expat living here in Jakarta. Been here a pretty long time and seen alot of weird shit. It's a mad place! Anyway, my girl absolutely love sex and loves to watch porn while we're on the job. It's her fantasy to be shagged silly by several guys and as i'm pretty open sexually, i don't mind giving it a go. We're keen to try a sex party but there's so much bullshit out there that we can't find the real thing. She is not interested in indo guys (no surprise) of fat, 50 year olds. She is a 30 year old babe with a wild appetite. Any suggestions? Serious suggestions please.

As others have pointed out, a little local knowledge of the language is always useful. The good news is bahasa indonesia is very easy to learn - there's no grammar or tenses, so it's merely stringing together the words.
Also, i would learn to count, at least know how to say satu juta (1 million) is too high, come back with something like tigah rutus (300K).
Good luck, Jkt is quite safe as long as you practice common sense.

It helps if you can speak a few words; I would recommend "Making out in Indonesian" as it covers common usage, some slang and words and expressions which you won't find in a tourist guide (but which you may find useful!). If you wander away from popular hunting grounds, especially at night, you must use a decent taxi, ideally Silver Bird and keep it. The waiting charge is insignificant compared with the extent to which you will get ripped off if you are trying to find a taxi at night with a girl.
Another good idea is to go with a local guy who knows what's what.

Posts: 58[QUOTE=Bulai69] It's very easy to delude yourself (I've done it myself) that you are getting something better if you pay 1 juta in BATS and the like: you aren't.
AH yes Bulai69... Jackson's favorite saying ( i am guessing but he did repeat it several x in BA); " There is no correlation between what you pay and and what you get."
So a $30 girl can give you better service than a $300 girl.

Thanks for your comments. I haven't been travelling much in Asia, but starting to. I have a mongering friend in HKG, and he's taken me to a few dodgy place in China recently. I hope to try to be more adventurous in my future trips, as I'm realizing that there's much more to be found outside the safety nets of the 5-stars. Always a little nervous about the language, so will have to learn some basic lingo.
Cheers

Bulai69, Knight1001, et. all:
Thanks for the confirmations on the Hyatt. I always stay there but have never been to Burgandy, or the other Hyatt operated bars. Great tips, which I will use when I return to Jakarta after the first of the year.

You are right about "top-level freebies" as co-incidentaly my report confirms! But it's a long-shot....

Bar's name is Burgundy - former O Reilleys. A Martini Chocolate will cost you 150 000 rps. It used to be 'in' and extremely busy on Friday nights, otherwise it was always from semi-empty to totally dead. Don't know about the current situation yet. I've never spotted a hoe there but had sometimes chances with top-level freebies.
Plaza Indonesia is definitely a good hunting ground. La Moda Cafe (which is managed by Hyatt) is the most strategic place.

Woodman - "Have either one of you been able to find any action at the Hyatt in Jakarta? Is BATS the best pick-up bar in Jakarta, or is there somewhere else?"
You won't find many reports in here on successes in the Hyatt - there is a bar in there which changed it's name a couple of years ago and I had two "scores" in there out of maybe a dozen visits while I was staying there. The first was an out and out hooker who wanted 300USD for short time which I eventually negotiated downwards to 60USD (still too much). On another occasion, around two years ago I met a group of 4 or 5 girls who persuaded me to buy 3 bottles of champagne (charged to unwitting client). This was a fantastic occasion: in summary the one I finished up with was living in 1,000,000 USD appartment and drove a top of the range BMW. We got stopped by the police as she sped down Sudirmann at 130 kph; she said "don't you know who I am?" - they looked alarmed and told her to drive off. I think that was a "one-off", certainly I've not experienced since!
Mighty Spearsman is correct in that the Hyatt is not very girl friendly even with residents, but as always the problem can be solved with a small "tip".
It's also the case, as Menteng says, that Plaza Indonesia/eX is good for mall hunting and certainly some girls exploit this fact. Certainly many pimps do; they can often be found on the top floor (of PI) after about 8pm, though I wouldn't recommend them as I said in recent report. Certainly there is no problem taking the girl back in to your room - the only time problems arise is if the girl is alone, going in or out. It's also worth remembering that girls who work in PI can also be picked up as well (see pages around 270 in the older Jakarta thread - observant Hyatt guests will note that some photos were taken in a Hyatt bedroom!)
