    Rainman,

I'm from Malaysia. chinese. I found out later that those places, no bule or even local indon chinese dare to go. We did check out all the other high end places, BATS, CJ, Red Square etc also Block M. Lots of bule and the prices for the drinks are sky high as well.

I think you got it wrong. It was the girl who wanted the pill. I was told when the girl take the E, they can do it the whole nite. So, if they are for real, 150k for a pill in return for a whole nite banging is definitely a steal, not to mention her already really hot look. We were just worried it could be a scam and the last thing we want is a free ride to the jakarta prison.

Back in malaysia, i did chat with a dangdut singer who used to work in jakarta, she told me that it is normal for some of the girls to take the E pill and party the whole nite away.

    Menteng,

No problem. But, I still cannot believe I drove you to Bandung yesterday for a tattoo, not a session at Saritem, ha ha.

Will your tattoo wound heal by Saturday? I mean at least free from any possible infection. Since you are leaving for S'pore on Sunday, will you consider a session on Saturday? Talk to you later.

Anyway, thanks for the brownies yesterday.

In less than 5 minutes after sitting down with a beer, a drop dead gorgeous young girl (early twenties, local, model quality) joined our table and ask for a drink. She ordered the Vitamin C orange juice thingy. After the drink arrive, the next thing she ask me to buy drug for her (esctasy pill). She ask for 150k and she will go buy the pill, after that she will follow me back to the hotel. I was being cautious (sure would be a good deal if she is for real) and after asking my friends, I didn't take up her offer. Told her I need to work the next day and gave her my number. My friends were also surrounded by a few gorgeous ladies but we didn't bring any back. Two days later the girl did sms me and wanted to come meet me but I didn't entertain.

So, just want to know anyone here have experience bringing out those girls from Millennium or Stadium and specifically those girls that are into drugs. My friends told me when those girls are high, they can go on in bed for the whole night. But there is always the risk if they actually team up with the police to trap us.

    Getting to the Alexis

"Gents, much apreciated if anyone could give directions to Alexis and Malioboro Spa's."

Mighty Spearman has already given the directions to the Malioboro. The Alexis Hotel is on Jalan Martadinata which runs in a rough east-west direction in the north of the city parallel to Jalan Manggadua which is about a kilometer to the south.

The best way to get there from Manggadua is to take a Blue Bird from the stand in front of ITC Manggadua head in the eastern direction and then turn north onto Jl Gunungsahari. Just before the the elevated tollroad, ask the taxi driver to turn to the left onto Martadinata which runs along the Kali Ancol canal and the Alexis is a black coloured building about 200 meters away.

Alternatively, you can approach the Alexis from the Kota bus-station. This makes sense if you are staying in the Bunderan HI (Plaza Indonesia) or Blok M areas and take the trans-Jakarta bus to the end of the line at Kota. You can catch an ojek (motorcycle taxi) from near the Kota stop or from in front of Gabhir stasiun as this is faster than a taxi during rush hour traffic jams. Or you can take a taxi. In both these cases, the driver will have to take the north bound Jl. Pintu Besar go behind the Fatahillah town square and crossing the two canals (that go to the harbour) take the Jl Bandan Raya. This road runs along a container depot/ rail line and then cross the railway line. From this side the Alexis hotel is just after the road crosses the railway line in a complex/ compound with several buildings on your right and the compound can be entered by a gate immediately after the railway line.

The distinguishing feature of the buildng is that it is painted black and can be seen from a distance. It's previous name was hotel Ancol and the taxi/ojek drivers often don't know its new name or pretend not to know. Sometimes if you say Ancol they might take you to the Ancol tourist park which is on the other side of the toll road either because they do not understand clearly or because they want to take you for a ride. So be careful. Insist on "bermeter" or 'argos" and it won't cost you much more than 10k by either route and this is the same fare that the Ojek charges.

The Spa is on the 7th floor of the hotel. Have a great time.

The problem with that is it's very difficult to get a blue bird taxi to wait for you for any period of time. Most of them do not like to wait. SilverBirds love to wait, but it's extremely rare that I've ever found a Blue Bird willing to wait more than a half hour.

Have you had more success than that? I'm curious how often you've convinced them to wait for you and how you convinced those Blue birds to wait.

When I first came to Jakarta, I'd have a Silverbird wait for me for 5 or 6 hours while I had fun. That's too expensive now. I have yet to find a Blue Bird who will agree to waiting that long. I mean never.

    Girls and drug

    telephone

wartel telephone shops are ubiquitous on the streets of jakarta.

if you see a public telephone, lift the receiver and check the number in the display near the keypad. if the number is not 000, don't insert coins, because the phone is broken. they usually are, but are very cheap (just 0,001 $/ minute) when they do work.

    internet

if you have your own laptop, it may run free wlan networks at many of the capital's malls. ask at the information desk for access codes. free hotspots are also available on most mcdonald restaurants and starbucks cafes. several hotels also provide free hotspot on their lobby.

internet cafes are available in many parts of the city with a price of rp. 4,000 - rp. 5,000. however, most of them only have dial-up capabilities. most of the internet cafes can be found around universities, and in most shopping malls. however, the internet connection speed can be better in the internet cafes found at malls.

if you are keen on using the internet for long hours, try to get the "happy hour" deals provided by internet cafes near universities. they provide 6 hours of surfing on the internet for rp. 12,000, but only available at midnight to 6 am.

    stay healthy

tap water in jakarta is not drinkable. always use bottled water, even for brushing your teeth.

according to world health organization (who), jakarta is the 3rd most polluted city in the world after mexico city and bangkok.

during rainy season (december, january, february), lower parts of jakarta (mostly those to the north) are often flooded.

there is a new law against smoking at public places in jakarta, and the smoker can (in theory) be fined up to us$5000. if you want to smoke, ask other people first: boleh merokok?

    stay safe

strict gun control laws make jakarta safer, but theft and robbery are problems. be on your guard in crowded places such as markets, because pickpockets often steal wallets and cellular phones. keep a close eye on your valuables and choose your transportation options carefully, especially at night. for all-night party excursions, it may be wise to keep your cab waiting — the extra cost is cheap and it's worth it for the security.

theft and robbery are the main security problems for a foreign tourist. don't leave cash, valuable items and important documents in an empty hotel room. put it on hotel's safe deposit box. put a copy of your passport and the original id card/driver license on the hotel's safety deposit box. if you are inside the hotel room, always use the deadbolt/chain lock. if you suspect something is wrong, call the front desk.
bring your passport and a copy of your id card/driver license all the time.
never show or carry your valuables like wallets, jewelry, gold watches, cellular phones, personal digital assistant (pda), mp3 player, large camera prominently.
if possible, don't bring any bags. if you must, keep them in front of you, not on your back or by your side.
in cheap hotels, the hotel's safe deposit box is probably safer than leaving valuables in your room. deadbolt/chain lock the room when inside, and call the front desk if you suspect an intruder.
    avoid quiet or dark places.
choose reputable taxi companies and make sure the doors are locked and the windows are closed. blue bird group taxis are the safest bet. check for "blue bird group" in large white letters emblazoned at the top of the taxi's windscreen.
always split your valuables in 2 places (e.g. keep your money in your wallet and also in your pocket. you may also want to keep some in reserve under your socks).
police are largely useless when it comes to crime prevention, and may attempt to extract bribes from any foreigners (the going rate for not having your passport with you is rp. 50,000).
if you're very unfortunate and meet some bad guys, just let them take your valuables. by doing so, at least your personal safety is guaranteed. of course, if you have ju-jitsu black-belt, you can try to practise it (but don't say we didn't warn you).
keep/remember the contact number of your country's embassy and other important emergency numbers.

the high-profile terrorist bomb blasts at the jw marriott in 2003 and the australian embassy in 2004 mean that security in jakarta is heavy, with car trunk checks, metal detectors, and bag searches at most major buildings. still, statistically this is more a nuisance than a real threat, and enforcement of the security rules tends to be lax at best.
    excellent advice!

in particular, newbies should heed the recommendation on keeping the cab waiting late at night. the cost of having a "blue bird" taxi wait for you with the mter running is only 20,000 rupiah an hour, that's just over us $2 an hour, money well spent.

in addition to using public phones, it's cheap to buy a sim card for your cell phone while you're here in town.

had a chuckle at the comment on the new law against smoking - one would never know it from living here! the law is totally ignored, and i'm usually the only non-smoker in the room wherever i go.

Are they located at hotels of the same name? I will be in JKT this weekend, looking forward to it and really want to visit these spa's but cant find any info on this site as to directions.

    Many Thanks
I believe that distinguished senior member Oyenk recently posted directions to both places here on the Indonesia board. Do a search and you should find them both.

The Malioboro Hotel and Spa (yes, the same building) is located on Jalan Gajah Mada, one block north of the "Harmoni" bus stop on the Transjakarta bus line. If you're not taking the bus, most taxi drivers should know the Malioboro as it's been open for almost a year now. If the taxi driver doesn't know, tell him you want to go to the Carrefour at Harmoni, the next main building north is the office of Lion Air, then there's Malioboro.

Malioboro and Alexis have both been reported on here recently, with the Malioboro receiving mixed reviews, the Alexis more positive reviews. They are both considered "high-end" and therefore more expensive than the regular MPs in Jakarta such as Kartika, Hotel Travel, Today Country, etc. They both offer mainland Chinese girls at 1,500,000 rupiah a session, also Thai and Uzbek/Russian girls as well as local Indonesian girls in various price categories (350,000 to 800,000 rupiah). Watch out for "extra" charges at Malioboro as I was tricked there in September.

Supposedly Malioboro and Hotel Travel have the same owner and the local Indonesian girls switch back and forth between the two places, with the Hotel Travel being much cheaper at 250,000 rupiah plus tip!
