    Pricing

    Since we are on the issue of price??

    For the Blok M girls... My standard is 300-400k and that is overnight but I rarely goes there nowadays.

    For those so called freebies from Cafe in Kemang, I give them Taxi money only when they come again to my house. and that ranges from 300-500k for taxi money.

    Last night was out with some friends karaoking and friends brought friends. One of the girl was a real good singer and as her friend later mentioned, she sings in Private function and Bars from times to time. She is going to Semarang later this week on another consignment. So we sung and drink and talk till the party end at 12 mid-night. I asked if she want to come to my place and she reluctantly say yes and later no and finally got her into the taxi leaving her friend behind...... Back in my house, told me she is 26, got a ten year old kids and got married in Manado at age 14..... Should I believed? Anyway, we continiue with some beer and with a bit of persuading, she goes to my room... Had a wonderful session together.

    She said she has to go back as she do nto want her kid to see her coming back early in the morning..... So how much Taxi would u give to a semi - professional singer??????

    I think I gave her 750k. Do u think that is reasonable????

    Cheers

    Good Info for traveling in Jakarta!

    good travel information picked from @ http://wikitravel.org/en/jakarta
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    telephone
    wartel telephone shops are ubiquitous on the streets of jakarta.
    if you see a public telephone, lift the receiver and check the number in the display near the keypad. if the number is not 000, don't insert coins, because the phone is broken. they usually are, but are very cheap (just 0,001 $/ minute) when they do work.
    internet
    if you have your own laptop, it may run free wlan networks at many of the capital's malls. ask at the information desk for access codes. free hotspots are also available on most mcdonald restaurants and starbucks cafes. several hotels also provide free hotspot on their lobby.
    internet cafes are available in many parts of the city with a price of rp. 4,000 - rp. 5,000. however, most of them only have dial-up capabilities. most of the internet cafes can be found around universities, and in most shopping malls. however, the internet connection speed can be better in the internet cafes found at malls.
    if you are keen on using the internet for long hours, try to get the "happy hour" deals provided by internet cafes near universities. they provide 6 hours of surfing on the internet for rp. 12,000, but only available at midnight to 6 am.
    stay healthy
    tap water in jakarta is not drinkable. always use bottled water, even for brushing your teeth.
    according to world health organization (who), jakarta is the 3rd most polluted city in the world after mexico city and bangkok.
    during rainy season (december, january, february), lower parts of jakarta (mostly those to the north) are often flooded.
    there is a new law against smoking at public places in jakarta, and the smoker can (in theory) be fined up to us$5000. if you want to smoke, ask other people first: boleh merokok?
    stay safe
    strict gun control laws make jakarta safer, but theft and robbery are problems. be on your guard in crowded places such as markets, because pickpockets often steal wallets and cellular phones. keep a close eye on your valuables and choose your transportation options carefully, especially at night. for all-night party excursions, it may be wise to keep your cab waiting — the extra cost is cheap and it's worth it for the security.
    theft and robbery are the main security problems for a foreign tourist. don't leave cash, valuable items and important documents in an empty hotel room. put it on hotel's safe deposit box. put a copy of your passport and the original id card/driver license on the hotel's safety deposit box. if you are inside the hotel room, always use the deadbolt/chain lock. if you suspect something is wrong, call the front desk.
    bring your passport and a copy of your id card/driver license all the time.
    never show or carry your valuables like wallets, jewelry, gold watches, cellular phones, personal digital assistant (pda), mp3 player, large camera prominently.
    if possible, don't bring any bags. if you must, keep them in front of you, not on your back or by your side.
    in cheap hotels, the hotel's safe deposit box is probably safer than leaving valuables in your room. deadbolt/chain lock the room when inside, and call the front desk if you suspect an intruder.
    avoid quiet or dark places.
    choose reputable taxi companies and make sure the doors are locked and the windows are closed. blue bird group taxis are the safest bet. check for "blue bird group" in large white letters emblazoned at the top of the taxi's windscreen.
    always split your valuables in 2 places (e.g. keep your money in your wallet and also in your pocket. you may also want to keep some in reserve under your socks).
    police are largely useless when it comes to crime prevention, and may attempt to extract bribes from any foreigners (the going rate for not having your passport with you is rp. 50,000).
    if you're very unfortunate and meet some bad guys, just let them take your valuables. by doing so, at least your personal safety is guaranteed. of course, if you have ju-jitsu black-belt, you can try to practise it (but don't say we didn't warn you).
    keep/remember the contact number of your country's embassy and other important emergency numbers.
    the high-profile terrorist bomb blasts at the jw marriott in 2003 and the australian embassy in 2004 mean that security in jakarta is heavy, with car trunk checks, metal detectors, and bag searches at most major buildings. still, statistically this is more a nuisance than a real threat, and enforcement of the security rules tends to be lax at best.
    Blok M freelancer girls should get 200-250K inclusive of taxi money for a one pop shorttime. Add 100 -150K to those numbersfor LT. However, it sure seems more recently that a lot of the better looking girls hold out for 500K as they are sponsored. Up to you if you think they are worth it. Personally I rarely see a Blok M worth that kind of money.
    Thanks for your advice Mongerxx. I too find the girls in Blok M not worth more than Rp300,000.
    The new trend for these "working girls" are to try their luck at 5 Star Hotel Bars and get double or triple of what they are worth. 2 good examples are BATS and Tiga Puluh. I got to know from a reliable source that CJ's is one place that actually screen all girls flowing in and will refuse entry to the drop dead fugly ones.
    but I have to admit it was 2005/2006.
    2007 I don't know, but it can't be a million.
    Anyone out there for some beers somewhere?
    Drop me a line.
    This time I travel KL-CGK by KLM Business Class.
    Hi Ekspat. You'll be surprise as to how demanding the girls are in Jakarta nowadays especially 5 Star Hotel Bars. A girl qouted Rp800,000 a pop to me at BATS (recently in November) and when I insisted on Rp400,000 a pop, she says "good luck with the rest of the girls!" She can demand that price as I, myself would tag her as "Da Bomb".
    After telling my family jewel to hold his horses (yes, I do hold constructive conversations with my penis), I manage to find one for Rp500,000 a pop after 1:30am (BATS shuts at 2am). I would grade her as Grade C+ to B- as the good ones are all taken. I didn't like it.
    As for KLM Business Class. Good choice. It is worth it. But you'll still get the same cold attitude of their flight attendance ;P Anyways, it is a short 2 hour flight. Just make sure you guzzle the champagne!!
    Have fun in Jakarta!
    Unfortunately we may never know the truth about Cynthia's death. According to Rista, a co-worker at Kartika who comes from the same kampung, Cynthia supposedly had some serious stomach ailment that caused her face and body to bloat.
    After Cynthia died, I asked Rista point-blank if Cynthia had AIDS and Rista said no. However, considering Cynthia's profession, it's certainly a possibility, and considering the stigma surrounding AIDS, Cynthia might not have told Rista or anyone else that she had AIDS if in fact she did have it.
    It's also possible that Cynthia had AIDS and didn't know it, considering the lousy medical care and lack of proper testing facilities in this country, especially in rural areas. It's also possible that Cynthia's death had nothing to do with HIV or AIDS or any STD, considering the myriad other diseases (typhoid, tuberculosis, dengue fever, food poisoning, bronchitis, etc.) prevalent here in Indonesia, especially among the lower income population.
    Cynthia first went home to her "kampung" (home village) near Semarang in late June as she wasn't feeling well. Sadly, she never returned to Jakarta. She apparently visited a local practitioner of traditional medicine in her village, and took "jamu" (traditional herbal medicine) instead of western drugs.
    I talked to her on the phone a couple of times in July/August, also sent one million rupiah to her twice (through Rista). I stopped hearing from Cynthia once Ramadan started in mid-September as her cell phone ran out of pulsa and she turned it off, and I was not able to send more money to her as Rista (and Cynthia's other friends from Kartika) were all home in their villages.
    When Rista returned to Jakarta in late October, she told me that Cynthia was still sick, and I seriously considered flying out to Semarang to see Cynthia and find out what's up (I wrote a post about that a month ago). Unfortunately I never got the chance to do so, and now it's too late.
    Rista travelled to her kampung last week and met with Cynthia's family. Understandably they are all devastated by what happened, especially Cynthia's mom and 3-year-old son. I may travel to the kampung myself soon to express my condolences in person (yes, I know the family will ask me for money for the son!).
    Interesting side comment about modern technology: Cynthia died at 5 p.m., not 3 p.m. as I first reported, and I received an sms from Cynthia's sister within one hour, informing me of the death. While it's possible that the sister knew who I was, more likely the sister was just sending sms messages about the death to everyone on Cynthia's mobile phone "contacts" list, something that would not have been possible ten years ago.
    Here are my rough opinions for the venues I know something about.
    Bj: Rp100,000 - Rp150,000
    Shag: Rp300,000 - Rp400,000 per pop
    For lower end massage places like Kimochi, Spamas type places FS should be yours for 150K or 200K max (on top of what ever room fee you incur.)
    For middle tier places like Puri Sehat, Java, Comfort batutulis FS should be yours for 200K or 250K max.
    Top end places and those which pretend to be top end (cough cough Tropical) you will need to tip 300-500K for FS
    Handjob should get 50K (clothed) or 100K if she does something really outstanding like prostrate massage or titty fuck in any venue. Add 50K for a BJ (maybe a little more if for a CIM)
    The services offered by girls within any massage place will greatly vary. So you shouldn't be shy about asking what you want from the booking desk. If you primarily want a girl who will play around and screw the whole time - ask for a girl who can main main. You will then get a girl who should take care of the the sexual biz well but won't be able to massage. If you really want a good massage and you want to go with the flow if you want extras - asked for a girl who gives a good strong massage. If you want a girl who gives a great massage, is real attractive, and then gives top shelf extras - then you can ask but you will unlikely get if you haven't called and booked her in advance. Those girls are in great demand and will usually be busy.
    Negotiating those tips for extras in a Massage parlor is by far the toughest P4P nogatiation in Jakarta. My strategy is to tell the girl what I want or I just do it. If she asks about money, I just tell her I know this place well and what the standard prices are, and I also mention I don't want to talk about money. If they insist on an amount, I usually make a joke that I am going to give them 5K. Then I remark that I am sure the are more worried now than before I committed to a tip amount. At this point I will 75% of the girls are on board. For those who want to hear a price, I offer them the lower end of the scale I stated above. I will then only do a minor bargaining upward. If I don't have an agreement within a minute or two at most, I tell the girl to forget the extras and just finish my massage. There are sooooo many oppourtunities to get a great lay in Jakarta I can gladly sit back and enjoy a straight pampering massage. Basically the true key to not overpaying in a massage parlor is having the true willingness to walk out without the extra. That really only happens about 5 to 10% of the time you do want the extras. Of course, I know many guys who just have to have that girl and they end up paying sometimes twice the going tip rates. I hate that because the girls will then think every westerner should pay those inflated prices.
    I have little experience with hotel bar girls, from what I can tell the prices seem a bit more over the map. But I would say in most cases no more than 300K for a ST (especially if you are staying nearby) and no more than 500K for LT. Of course there does seem to be a fair amount of guys will to pay those 1 million quotes, but not enough to go around for all the girls. Usually those guys are long gone by 11PM anyway, and the girls will adjust their expected compensation accordingly.
    Strongly recommend that you read the "Reports of Distinction" section of the Jakarta board, there are a lot of good links there.
    To save you some time, try these two posts of mine. This first post was written in April but is still accurate (except that the Maribaya Spa now costs 400,000 rupiah per session, and the famous Cynthia of Kartika MP sadly died two weeks ago):
    http://www.InternationalSexGuide.inf...d.php?p=590474
    This post was written on October 31, 2007 and covers the area around Lokasari Plaza on Jl. Mangga Besar (note: you may have to scroll down the page to read this post):
    I assume that you are staying at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, which means you'll be in town soon (since the Mandarin Oriental is closing down on Dec. 27th for extensive renovations). That means that you are across the circle from the Plaza Indonesia shopping mall, one of the better places for mall-hunting in Jakarta.
    For some detailed posts on mall-hunting, check out this post by a truly knowledgeable senior member, the great Bulai69:
