I made it to CJs. First experience at one of the upscale FL joints in Jakarta.

Pay 200 k at the door for a beer. That wasn't cover price. That's how much they cost. At least not ++.

Bar was quite nice. Band was enjoyable. Nice break from the screeching dangdut shit you hear around Jakarta.

As for the girls (or should I say old ladies).

It really was a horrific scene.

They doll themselves up nicely, having pleasing personalities but most were 30+. I suspect quite a few single mothers looking at the bellies on them.

There were a couple of hotter younger chicks (maybe 25), but I could only imagine the asking price. It's not that they were any hotter than what you can find at Classic (for a fraction of the price), but they just dress nicer, get their hair professionally styled.

It's for guys who want to feel like they're in a bar actually seducing a woman. Asking price seemed to be 1,000,000 until breakfast.

Too many better value options in Jakarta to waste time on 200 k drinks to talk to women in their 30's. It felt like a total tourist trap.

If this was Angeles City, these women weren't dolled up, they would barely get 500 pesos.

I agree with a lot of that, but as far as "better value" I think it just depends what you want out of the evening as far as choosing a venue. Do you value your time more than your money or vice-versa, do you just want mediocre sex with a young girl for an hour in a room in a brothel or do you want GFE and hours of fun hanging out before having better sex in your own room? Those girls at CJs and BATS are experts at making you believe they are your girlfriend for the night (as you mentioned).

I would not call CJs or BATS simply a "tourist trap" because many guys who live in Jakarta go there. Maybe a better description would be "westerner trap and tourist trap" LOL. You will find more western guys who live in Jakarta going to places like CJs and BATS than you will find in the brothels. Any nice 5 star location in Jakarta costs a lot to visit regardless of whether they have girls there or not.

I personally prefer CJs and BATS by far over a place like Hotel Classic or any other brothel in town. I like a nice place that has good music (and I find live bands fun). The drinks are absurdly priced, but I like the environment. I have to admit that I have met a couple of girls over 30 who were unbelievable stunners and I went for it, but normally I will go home alone rather than take a girl over 30 years old. There are some extreme hotties who are young who venture into CJs and BATS (usually never more than around 5 per night, so you do have to move quickly when you see a young hotty in order to get one). On occasion you can get lucky and find a girl who is very high quality and she just hasn't found a sponsor yet or is in between sponsors.

If you are looking for a girl to take to Bali, there are many good candidates in those places. Some of them have become good friends of mine over the years who I will actually meet for a coffee and just talk about life at times.

I think the better service in bed and overall fun experience with the girl justifies the higher price of the girls at CJs and BATS. I give those girls between 1 and 1.5 million. But if you just want cheap sex with a young attractive girl and don't care as much about quality of service or human interaction, then CJs and BATS are not the places to go. The girls in the brothels are younger without any doubt and they are far cheaper. Basically, every one of my Indonesian friends only cares about the price and the girl being young with white skin, they don't care anything about hanging out with the girl. So of course they prefer the brothels. And my western friends in town are the exact opposite. Personally, I find the brothels to be boring and very rarely even consider them, but I did used to like them years ago when I first arrived in town and was like a kid in a candy shop.

As far as Angeles City having hot women, that's an interesting comment. Maybe I went at the wrong time, but my experience in AC was a disaster. I only visited AC once for one week back in the mid 2000's, but I was not impressed in the least. I think AC has far worse looking women compared to Jakarta or Bangkok. I rarely saw any girl over a 6 in any of those bars in AC. The best looking girl I saw in AC was a waitress at a steak restaurant there. I will say that the girls in AC are fun, but it seemed to me like they needed to be playful to make up for their lack of good looks. I believe the ugliest girl I have ever taken home from BATS or CJs was better looking than the best girl I was with that week in AC. I have a friend who loves AC, but he says he likes it because it's cheap, he likes the girls playful personalities, and their ability to speak English. But he also thinks the girls there are not that good looking. Or were you simply commenting that if the CJs girls were as poorly made up as the girls in AC, that they would be as ugly or uglier than the AC girls?

I spent an extended period in Jakarta (previously only short trips) and these are my thoughts. 7-10 years ago in Bangkok was probably my favorite period so that's my point of reference and always will be.

I averaged $94 per day for spending excluding accommodation, averaged just under one session per day. I look for good value, I'll average maybe 10-12 beers per night (maybe 6 of those beers are at cheap establishments early in the evening, my best night was 18 beers), eat local food or fast food (restaurants are awkward waiting for food while solo). I know enough Indonesian to handle a situation where no-one speaks English. I eat well and stay in shape when not on the road.

In terms of value, Indonesia is as good as it gets in Asia. A venue like Classic is safe, if you're there at 9 pm you have a great selection of nice looking women, there are no real scams, prices are great value, rooms are always spotless.

And really, all those venues whether Travel, Kota Indah, New Medika, it's all straightforward. They don't scam you (apart from the girls with shots but you just have to say no and then refuse to pay if they continue). The beer is reasonably priced, you can find cute girls and the prices are as cheap as you'll get in Asia. If it's your first time in Jakarta, it has novelty value compared to Thailand or the Philippines.

But it does get old quickly. It's like the Indonesians take the challenge out of mongering.

The venues are repetitive. The music generally sucks, it's extremely loud (if the music was good it wouldn't be a problem). The cigarette smoke really sucks after a while.

With all the venues being self-contained and taxi rides apart you don't get that buzz you get drinking in Bangkok, Manila, Pattaya, Angeles, Phnom Penh where you bounce from one bar to another all night long.

Blok M really isn't worth visiting. It's Mybar and Dee's Place. Nothing else. If you just came from Thailand or the Philippines you would wonder what the fuss is.

I thought CJs was a total tourist trap.

In terms of value, for $94 per day you can't beat Jakarta (I can't see prices remaining low I was staggered by how many tourists I saw this time compared to previous visits).

The girls are cute, they perform well enough, the prices are good value, but I end up longing for the energy of Bangkok or fun of Angeles City.

I did try Tinder and was shocked by the response. I didn't pursue anything. The first girl accused me of being someone else, then the next one seemed to not like the idea of a few drinks at beer garden. Preferred 'wine and vodka'. No thanks. Just didn't have the time to sift through them, but I think online would be a great way to go. Especially if you set your sights slightly lower than the hottest girls on there.

Again though, you're not in Bangkok you're in Jakarta. I suppose mongering is just one aspect of a mongering trip for me.

I'll return to Jakarta, but not for an extended trip. Even though I'm sure Jakarta improves once you have a network of girls or friends.

*Unlike the USA, emergency contraceptive is difficult to come by in Jakarta. A woman can't ask for it with scrutiny from authorities. I went to Guardian and Century and was rebuffed. Everytime, I was told I needed a prescription. They were not convinced by the argument that I it would be impossible for me to get a prescription since I couldn't get pregnant. I was able to secure a box of Microgynon from a mom-and-pop pharmacy in Tangerang, while on the way to the airport. Microgynon is a normal one-a-day birth control, but can we used as an emergency contraceptive. The box cost 16000. Those who are curious how this works can use Google.

If you're traveling in Southeast Asia anyway, you can pick these up very easily in Cambodia, Thailand or Vietnam. Usually less than a dollar for the single pill. Check the expiration date and you can carry them with you into places like Indonesia if you feel you need them.

Hoping to share my experience as a newbie to Golden Crown. One thing that I did not get from was sex with any girls there that night. However, I went there on a Tuesday night not expecting it either since I was just looking to pass my time and have fun at the same time.

Then I remember Crown which was brought up by one of the Emporium girl, and I was surprised to find Google showing 5 AM as the closing time and off I go. By the way, Google told me me that it was only a 15 minutes walk to Crown but it felt like eternity. The streets here are not really designed for pedestrian. By the way, I never felt unsafe at any point in time as I walked along the main road. The only time my heart pounded briefly was when I saw a flashing police car driving past me. At that time, I was thinking crap, I don't have my passport with me. Maybe a 100 K note with my driving license would suffice. Luckily, they just drove past. Anyway, I should have taken Grab instead in hindsight.

Crown's main entrance is not visible as you approach the area. I had to in fact ask the parking attendant where it was and he pointed me to a lighted entrance door. It felt like they try to hide themselves and not declare their presence loudly with bright neon signs. I took the lift to the top floor along with a couple who was already in there.

I had to pay an entrance fee of 80 K. Also, I noticed there were two ATMs strategically placed next to the entrance. To get to the dance hall, I have to walk past the KTV rooms to get there and along the way say a bunch of LCs and their mamasan waiting in front of a KTV room ready to be selected by the KTV patrons. When I got to the dance hall, to my surprise, I found there were in fact lots of people in there with all the tables already occupied. For folks who had been to Insanity in Bangkok, the hall in Crown is probably two times the size. However, a raised dance platform with some stupid statues in the middle probably took up half of the whole area.

As I stood in the back corner to see what I could do next, a very cute relatively curvy girl eyed me and motioned me over to join her and her friends. Cool, I joined them and as expected after a while asked me if she and her friends can get drinks. I know that is the price and so have no problem with that. After she saw me order a double gin and tonic, she also did a switch-a-roo and asked my permission if she can switch her order to something pricier, some kind of Korean alcohol which tasted like the watered down version of Maotai, and I said yes. As we talked and get comfortable with each other, she would ask if I am interested in getting high. I told her that I don't do drugs, in which she also got the hint that I am not about to sponsor her and her friends. She was also cool with it, but as the music and both our bodies grind onto each other and to the beat of the music, I told her that I can sponsor her but not her friends. I would like to see where it leads. Also I hand the payment to her and not the waiter, and that way as far as I know, I am just helping her with her rent. Later, I was starting to get bored and wanted to explore the area further. By the way, these are not open tab. You pay for the drinks when they are delivered to you. Which also mean that I can just get up and leave at anytime.

Two college looking girls and her gay friend at one of the table caught my attention. One of the girl looked like she was either drunk or high and danced away with her gay friend, while the other GND looking girl would sit quietly on the table. After some observation, I would ask if they are interested in me buying them a drink, and of course they would not refuse. Anyway, that guy helped me out of that joint and even made sure that I get on the bluebird taxi safely. By the way, not a single rupiah paid to those two girls either. By the way, before anyone tried to question the intention of that guy, he mentioned that someone had helped him out from a tough spot in the past during his trip to Vietnam, and so it is good Karma to pay back in deeds.

Its a very unique club and probably the only one of its kind in the world (or at least Asia). Very few foreigners come here but I think its worth checking out for younger guys or those into EDM / dance music, as long as you can tolerate fast paced Indonesian Breakbeat / Dugem dance music.

Did you ever go to Stadium before it was closed down? I consider Stadium and Golden Crown to be very similar. I thought Stadium had a better energy, but Golden Crown is a nicer place. I also liked the fact that there were lots of girls available for short time rooms upstairs in that front bar area of Stadium, and they do not have that at Golden Crown. (Yes, when I talk about it with locals I call it Crown, not Golden Crown.).

You don't need to be young to go there. The girls are still very receptive to guys over 50 years old.
