There are a lot of great places in Jakarta, and it is IMHO overall a better scene than Bangkok .

Certainly wish we had venues like Classic in BKK. Jakarta is different. Not a tourist destination and you fish in the same pond as the locals. They are far more welcoming. Locals in BKK don't want foreigners in their places. Also locals in Thailand like to brag about what they spent. Does not seem to be as much the case in Jakarta.

Beware though of Smoothy's recommendations. Less than four months ago he wrote in a post here "I totally agree with most of your report. Especially the crap shag at Hotel Classic. That's "standard" crap service at that place. Although it's cheap and the girls are young and hot. It's extremely rare to get good sex there. " His most recent post stating "Buy let's get real, there is no better value for money in the entire world than Hotel Classic when you compare" should be read in tandem with his earlier posts (there are many actually) complaining about how bad the service is there.

There are a lot of great places in Jakarta, and it is IMHO overall a better scene than Bangkok although it is difficult to know whether that will continue for long given the real possibility of politically-motivated crackdowns, some of which have already occurred. But as a Jakarta regular, I don't even bother with Classic (or Travel, its competitor for terrible service) anymore.

Kalibata City ("kalcit" as locally referred to) is besides a regular apartment complex also a "public secret" prostitution and narcotics place, it's often been reported on in Indonesian media. Girls mostly advertise through twitter / wechat / similar apps, and obviously it helps if you have numbers of some papi or mami's.

Those Kalibata hookers are not just for locals (although mostly for locals). They sometimes have 4 or 5 girls in the same small apartment there. They want 500 k for an hour. I have local friends who often send me photos of the girls they tried at Kalibata and offer me their contact numbers. Sometimes I get their contacts if they are hot and I do have quite a few of the girls numbers, but I have only tried it once. Those girls prefer to have sex in their apartment at kalibata while I prefer to have them come to my place so I only did it once. I'd much rather pay a little more to have them come to my place than have sex in one of those tiny Kalibata apartments. I've recently seen some Kalibata hookers on Tinder as well. I worked on Java in 2014 and spent some time in Jakarta during my tenure there.

My favorite haunts are CJ's, then BATS, and Top Gun.

Near the end, I discovered Maribaya Spa in Hotel Melawi thanks to posts by Koperen Klaas. At the time there were a fair amount of negative posts about the place but it suited me well and I always enjoyed it. Low key, small, decent looking girls, excellent service, GFE attitude, fair price at 600 k. I made maybe 6 visits and loved every one.

I would go there for fun in the afternoon (Arti) or early evening (Ani) before the evening began at 10 pm at CJ's or BTA'S. I like to get there early and get a good seat near the entry door to peruse the talent walking in.

I am coming back to visit my 2014 friends from where I worked. I spend 3 weeks on Java overlapping between April and May. I have 6 days to spend in Jakarta & the rest in the province.

I have spent weeks perusing the forum, in part, searching for a replacement for Maribaya. I do not like huge meat markets where there is mostly perfunctory or starfish performance. A GFE attitude and personality probably tops my list. I don't need stunners and can always find a girl who I find pretty. I go more for the "girl next door" look anyway.

I'm 60, 6'1" and chubby. Started my diet the day I bought the tickets a few weeks ago. Lost 15 lbs already. Nothing beats proper motivation to stick to a diet. In fact I lost 65 pounds in 2014 while in Indonesia. Regardless, when in the P4P market, I never had a problem finding women and my belief is that personality and attitude top the girls list.

In all my research, it seems like Kings Cross might be the closest match to Maribaya for me.

The only issue seems to be location as it a far afield from the CJ's area where I am staying.

That reminds me of when I very first came to stay in Jakarta. The office I was working in had some expats so I figured they could lead me to the night life. They all claimed that they didn't go out since they were married. My apologies. Then Natty's advice is spot on for you. I do find that there are different segments of the mongering population. Westerners, Asians, Indian, etc. Each segment has a bit different tastes.

Second side note: One of the civvies I met up with first at Plaza Kalibata. Nearby are some residential towers, and we walked around a bit since she used to live there. We had a snack at a 24-hour diner inside the residential complex, and she mentioned that she has heard there is a lot of prostitution happening in the complex, and when she lived there saw lots of young, made up girls with older ladies going up and down the elevators and picking up guys to go upstairs.
