My vote is for Bats at the Shangrila.

T, I am still in the discovery phase as regards Jakarta. There are still plenty of places I want to check out, but I am in no hurry. So far, I have taken two very nice girls out of Bats and CJ's respectively, but the last 2 times I went to CJ's on a Wednesday and a Thursday night CJ's swamped the best night I ever saw in Bats both in sheer numbers and in quality of girls. I still like Bats, but CJ's on a Wednesday night is amazing. I can't think of a better / hotter 5 star hotel FL pickup bar anywhere in Asia. Brix at the Hyatt in Singapore has equal or higher quality at an even more outrageous price, but Brix is a much smaller bar with probably a third of the girls and Spasso at the Hyatt in BKK is a joke compared to CJ's. So I am a big CJ's fan.

The 2nd to last night I was in Jakarta, I met a very attractive part time FL girl at CJ's. I liked her so much that I took her and her best girl friend out to dinner the next night. The girl friend was an amateur who worked in the medical profession. She took pride in ownership, driving us around Jakarta in her new red Honda. I paid for dinner and then drinks later at CJ's where the three of us spent the night dancing. Around 3 am the friend drove us back to my hotel. I filled her tank up with gas. My girl and I spent the rest of the night shagging bareback and cuddling. Around 8 am she had to leave for work. I took her down to the lobby to get a taxi and then I went back upstairs to get some sleep. We have stayed in Line contact and I am looking forward to seeing her again when I return to Jakarta. I am in love. LOL.

Depending on one's budget there are in Jakarta plenty of good places for steak or ribs, particularly in the five-star hotels. See's in the Grand Hyatt is one such place, but there are many others. And although more expensive than the average meal in Jakarta, the prices are not so bad.

Having eaten at those steak restaurants in Jakarta for many years, I thought they were fine. Then I come back to the US and went to a place like Ruth's Chris and realized that every steak dinner I ever had in Jakarta was crap.

That being said, the steaks at BATS are about as good as you will find in Jakarta. You can have a nice meal there then wait for the girls to come down the stairs.

Park Lane hotel at Stix restaurant used to have a 50% off steak night every Sunday. I'm not sure if they still have it.

In terms of food I suspect I'm going to have some problems here; although I like to sample the local fare I depend heavily on my staples viz steak / ribs, potatoes, beans, mushrooms etc. I have long jettisoned fast foods like hamburgers and chicken and fries, I avoid these foods and these are ubiquitous in Jakarta but good ribs and steak are nowhere to be seen.

I don't quite understand this statement. Ninety percent of the population is Muslim, and in my experience the Muslim girls are, if anything, the friendliest as compared to Christians, etc. Perhaps you are somehow assuming that the only Muslim females are those dressed in Muslim garb?

Initial comparisons between Bangkok and Jakarta.

I have been here for just three days but consider myself capable of making a comparison between the two abovementioned destinations in certain respects.

As has been extolled considerably Bangkok is the more visitor friendly city on which I would say no more.

Women: This can be subjective but there are aspects that can be expressed objectively. In terms of looks my subjective view is Bangkok over Jakarta. In arriving at this conclusion I have not allowed the attire to affect my decision. In terms of girl watching Bangkok is leaps and bounds ahead of Jakarta. In Bangkok you will see tons of chicks in shorts and skimpy clothes showing off their beautiful legs and other assets. I don't think I have seen one woman in shorts here in Jakarta. The majority of women appear to be muslim and are fully attired from head to toe, others are out and about either in jeans or long dresses. However, the derrieres of the Indonesians are far superior to that of the Thai women which can be gleaned even in the demure garbs. This is most pleasing to me as it is a part of the female anatomy that is very important to me and my hobby. Also, the more beautiful Indos I see around are extremely stunning; however, for numbers of beautiful women I would rate the Thais over the Indos.

Friendliness: The friendliness of the Indonesians have been much touted on this board with some mongers even dreading an invasion of westerners who may spoil them. I do not hold such an opinion. They are friendly yes but only where it matters such as in the hotel, malls or other establishments where they would like to get your money. That being said I think it is easier to date an Indonesian non-pro than a Thai non-pro. Therefore, I would add in terms of where it matters the possibility of gaining a western BF / husband. I get more favorable vibes from girls I encounter here (non-muslims of course) than in Bangkok. However, In terms of overall friendliness I would rate Jakarta and Bangkok as equal.

I am indeed happy to be here and will make further comparisons between the two destinations as time goes by especially in the area of quality and performance of the providers.

Thanks for the advice Natty and Smoothy. I certainly intend to visit the much touted Malioboro and have psyched myself for the expense, will also give Bats a hit. I did spend 5000 Baht for a Nataree girl, I think that is a little less than 2 M Rupiah which will be my limit for expenditure in any one visit to an establishment in Jakarta and will be done very sparingly.

By the way you cannot depend on the mamasans here, the mamasan told me the girl spoke English which she clearly did not.

I don't think any of the girls at Classic speak English. If they spoke English, they wouldn't be working at such a cheap place.

Sounds like a typical Classic experience though. That's a good description of a visit there.

After much toing and froing I've finally decided to make my first trip to Jakarta. This city is not for the faint of heart but after making several visits to Kolkata I shouldn't have much problems navigating this metropolis. It is certainly not a walking friendly city; in my travels I like to trek to various destinations on foot for exercise but I won't be doing that here and will depend on my hotel's gym for workouts. Well now for the main course; my decision was between Malioboro and the Classic hotel. After some contemplation I decided on the Classic and took a 'taksi' there, arriving at 8. 30 pm. As I enter the lobby I am greeted by loud music, I don't know how anyone can sleep in this hotel; perhaps the rooms are sound-proofed. I headed for the fifth floor which is where my research on this board says I should start. Took two escalators up then elevator to the fifth. I am given a wristband against the number on which all drinks are entered. As I enter there is a group of girls, about thirty in all seated to the left and there is a band playing to their left. There are no more than about ten punters seated at tables throughout the establishment; there are numerous empty tables and chairs. I take a seat and a mamasan immediately comes up to me and shows me her girls who are in red uniforms and tries to encourage me to choose one.

Now I am not sure whether punters who have visited this establishment are aware that on the other side of the band there is another group of girls; I think it is easy to overlook this group if you sit close to the first group. I told the mamasan that I want to look at all the girls before choosing. I then get my drink and with it in hand I walk to the other group and survey them. A mamasan comes up to me and shows me her girls and laser points one who she says speaks English and is good for me; the girl comes up, I shake her hand and tell mamasan I am still undecided. The mamasan laser points others who come down and this continues with other mamasans and their girls in this group and the other. The girls are mostly 5's, 6's and one or two 7's but I find it very difficult to choose.

I find the attitude of the girls much different from Thai girls. In the soapies some of the Thai girls as long as they can see you will smile at you and try to get your attention. But these girls just sit there looking quite bored. However, when they are called to be introduced they are quite pleasant and smile when they shake your hand. So the idea of only choosing a girl who smiles at you is not applicable here in my opinion. I eventually make my choice not out of having found what I was looking for but more because I did not want to spend more than half an hour looking. I pay the R350,000. The mamasan and girl disappear for five minutes then the girl returns and escorts me to the room. The service girls come and ask if I want a drink, I don't but my girl does and she is brought a soft drink in a can.

The worst part of the evening for me occurred at this point where the girl asks for a tip WTF. We have not undressed yet and she asks for a tip. A huge turnoff for me. Worse than an upsell. I tell her that if she is good she will get a tip after. She does not speak English but she certainly understood my tone and body language. We undress and she washes me in the shower. I dry off go to the bed and await her arrival. She comes onto the bed and I try to kiss her but she shows that she does not want me to although not in an abrupt way. I then allow her to do her thing which was to kiss various parts of my body followed by a CBJ. Her body language showed that she did not like me sucking on her breasts but her attitude in so doing was not obnoxious.

Having eventually secured my erection she mounts me in cowgirl and seems to enjoy it. I then flip her and session in mish for a while which she enjoys even more. We then switch to doggy which I enjoy more but she appears to enjoy less, I then go at it for perhaps more than twenty minutes at which point completion occurs. I would actually rate my selection at about a 5, undressed in the light of the room she looked a lot less appetizing than seated among her colleagues. However, apart from my Thai non-pro in Bangkok (a first for Turgid in many years (I. E. A non-pro)) she had the biggest ass I've had in over two months. The total amount paid for the evening was very reasonable. I will return for there were better looking girls than my choice. However, Malioboro and other clubs await my arrival. By the way you cannot depend on the mamasans here, the mamasan told me the girl spoke English which she clearly did not. Apart from that though I find the mamasans not as obnoxious as described by other punters. I actually find them quite pleasant.

Alexis Spa. Plenty to choose from. You can choose a girl take her to the Jacuzzi and then FS (Maybe 60 minutes) Pricing depends on local / Vietnamese / others. No strip club on this floor. Note this closes at 2:00 pm. So better to go early if you want to have a FS.

If you avail the services of the girl you can get free entry to the club below (1st floor). Club open till 4:00 or 5:00 am.

Malioboro Spa. Plenty of options. Has the club and the girls on the same floor. So you could watch the girls dancing while the mamasan parades the girls for you to choose from. If not interested you can just drink a couple of drinks and watch the dance.

Although the club has some girls, the majority are actually on the 1st floor (or 2nd depending on how you count) on the other side of the building. (The first entrance leads to basically the brothel, the 2nd entrance which is located when you walk 100 meter passed the 1st entrance leads to the club).

You can reach the brothel from the club and visa versa through the 3rd floor, and you would probably be able to get a known mamasan to bring some to you while you're in the club, but the selection is limited in the club and I wouldn't count on the mamasans taste.

Orchadz spa. Went for a massage day time. Offers variety of services.

I regularly went to the one at the airport. I usually paid 100 k for HJ, 200 k for BJ and 300 k for FS. Services depend a lot on the girl which you cannot choose in advance, you should pick a number of a board and the GRO will give a short description only. Change is possible but a little embarrassing.

Night life starts around 9:00 pm. Cost you anything around (50 to 300 USD).

Some have 99% locals so learning Bahasa before visiting Indonesia definitely helps.

Pre-dinner / lounge drinks start at 9, but if you want to go clubbing it really only starts going after 12. Prices depends a lot on the person, you might get by with 50 USD for a night but it's not going to bring you far. I would certainly not cap it at 300 USD. In Jakarta, and if you hang in certain Indonesian circles, the sky is the limit. I've experienced the most absurd and crazy nights of my life in Jakarta, this is a city where money can literally buy you anything.

Knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is definitely a plus and when you reach a sufficient level this will open up a whole new world of freelancers that are rarely discussed on this forum.
