This is far from over and it is still raining like crazy. Thousands, maybe more than a hundred thousand, will lose everything. I would think mongering destinations would be the last of people's concerns.

Heard on the news there are flood warnings in Jakarta. Areas near the Ciliwig river in South and East Jakarta appear to be flooded, causing congestion, traffic, stoppage in bus / train service.

I will be heading to Kota area next week for my first visit to the city, and not sure what to expect due to the flooding.

Can anyone in Jakarta comment on the flood situation? Including when it is expected to recede, and whether this will affect WG operations such as Alexis, Malio etc. ?

Thet said is the worst flood in a Decade worst than the one in 2007 when 40 people die and heavy rain is in the forcast for 4 more days but no problem at the airport, I also have ticket to Jarkata for next month so hope thing go back to normal then.

Personally, I trace that turn of events to when "ecstasy" hit Jakarta. Before that, it was hard enough to find a place that stayed open much past one, with the honorable exception of Tambora. These days, a lot of places don't really seem to get started until then.

While Tambora was pretty flexible with its opening hours, the upstairs pool hall by the Pentagon Disco was a great place to monger. If Felatehan was quiet there was always the trip north to Kramat Tunggal or Glodok. 50000 Rp was the going rate for a Blok M girl. Is My Bar where Pentagon used to be? Also what happened to "The Club" around the corner?

Anyway my recomendations nowdays his to hit the North and go to somewhere like the Classic Hotel in Pasar Baroe. Get the Mamasan / Germo to find the prettiest SYT she can. When SYT is brought over and resists you (if you're a foreigner) say you'll compromise and go for a threesome with her pal to put her at ease. The infamous "Beer Garden" inside the food hall was the perfect pick-up spot for ayam trying to make some quick money.

Asian Rain recently posted a pic of a girl who used to frequently hang out at Pasaraya during the day to pick up a "short time" or two then would head to Pelatehan for a couple of short times before going with her long time victim at the end of the night. It was never closed and the renovations are almost finished (last time I looked was Wednesday) although all the malls are constantly re-inventing themselves and there will always be renovations going on.

Opportunities in Pasaraya should be unchanged.

I have not discovered a new mall for mongering.
