A Tiny report with some reflections, spent two days in Jakarta and did end up taking zero (o) girls and had a so-so time.

BATS at the Shangri-La: a medium sized hotel pub with cover band, this bar reminded me of an American Sports Bar. Customers seems to be mostly expats, many men in suits but also women. When I visited there were maybe 10 freelancing girls on the premises, quality 4-7, I flirted with a a pretty classy woman, MILF type 35-45 years old perhaps, I bought her a drink and for that she let me cuddle and kiss her, pretty nice but didn't feel like taking her she was asking for big money, smoked a lot, was sweating a lot (menopause?) and I wanted to move on. Like most places in Jakarta nearly all girls smoke cigarettes almost constantly which puts me off. Drinks are expensive and the service was not great, I am not used to pay entrance fee to a place like this. As you can hear I did not like this place.

CJ's at Mulia: I liked this better that BATS, a much posher place with more beautiful people in general, clientel seems to be rich beautiful welldressed people with some expats and working girls, quality 6-8. Music: a live band was really good when I was there and service was also good although expensive. Chatted with some not super attractive girls but never got the chance to chat with the really hot ones. Again: LOTS of cigarette smoke.

Classic Hotel: Well I did not get this hotel / establishment, I went to several different places in this hotel to find me some girls / sex, first the "stripclub" which was pretty boring, girls quality 3-6 then I went to the massage / spa which had no girls at all? Then up some floors to some KTV type place packed with loads of locals and cigarette smoke and SUPER loud music where the mamasan kept bringing me totally bored girls that could speak zero English, I did not like or understood what anyone said so I left unsatisfied.

I met a girl from Tagged. Com but I did not like her either hehe so all in all no luck in Jakarta. I did not like the city much either, I had not much time to explore but what I saw was not that nice and it was pretty difficult going places due to distances and traffic and almost non existent public transport.

I did not find Jakarta girls that attractive as I had come from Thailand and spent time in Phils before, where quality is higher and the whole nightlife scene is much more geared towards punters.

My Bar at Blok M used to have a shemale who frequented there that was the best looking shemale I've ever seen in Indonesia. I wouldn't even have known it if one of the girls I'd known for years hadn't told me. Each night, that shemale invariably would be making out with a different young, good looking white guy who came to the bar that night. I now see that same shemale on dateinasia, but at least the ad does specify that it is a shemale.

I think Jakarta is more dangerous because in Thailand you are on the lookout for it. In Jakarta it's easier to have your guard down.

I believe most men (but not all) who get fooled want to be fooled. If a person can't tell by looking them over, surely the voice would be a give away. I saw a cute bartender in Chiang Mai years ago. Went up and ordered a drink. Voice sounds like Charles Bronson. Okay there's the clue. Anyway, I think spotting them is seldom the problem. The main problem is that they can be very aggressive evn after you've made it clear you're not interested. They can act like some African women in Dubai where "no" doesn't seem to mean "no." Thankfully, most I have seen in Jakarta are banging on taxi windows but upon entering a bar you are protected by the banci force field. Even still, be a little bit on your gaurd and if there is any question disengage. Smoothy, did you ever hear the person's voice?

Well, KJ, Jakarta is not exactly free of the specific danger you mention. Watch out for particularly tall girls with adam's apples, is all I can say. I'm glad to say that some of the clubs on Blok M have an explicit policy of banning waria (shemales) and that the real girls will turn them in. Top Gun, for example, has that policy. Stadium is much less picky. Not only are shemales not what most right-thinking mongers are looking for (As a friend of mine said, there's enough real girls willing to do whatever you want, so why would you bother?), but a lot of them are total criminals and will put drugs in your drink and pick your pockets or take you somewhere for further processing. If you have much experience, you can spot them and avoid them, but I've seen them hit on guys who don't seem to be able to tell.

Seriously the dangers in Pattaya are beyond the regular BS. Nights out mongering are generally fueled by more than a few pints or shots of whiskey. The dangers thus, of ending up with someone who used to be a guy or some sexy babe who still maintains her male organ are way, way, way greater in Pattaya than in Jakarta. I've got nothing against that, just in case it is your cup of tea. Just that I'd rather be comfortable in knowing I'm in a place where that option usually doesn't exist.

For a first time traveler to Asia visiting for 2 weeks, there is no question at all which is the better choice. Thailand all the way.

Jakartas extremely dangerous, hotels are not value for money, immigration staff at airport hassle western travellers, I've been to jakarta once and couldn't stomach the place and left after 3 days, but can easily handle Thailand no pompem!

I met a girl a while ago from dateinasia who used a glamour shot for her pic. She looked stunning in the photo. When I met her in person, she wasn't even decent looking. A field report:

BATS-walk in and get followed by so many skirts. Picked a 22 yo that was 4'9" and maybe 80 pounds. Over priced but was cute. Asked for a million and over paid at 600, 000 plus tip. With high hopes I boarded the plane from Bangkok to Jakarta this evening. Have heard so much nice stories of BATS so decided to fly down to have a go. What happens? It is fucking closed. What do I do then. Just write this report and go to bed I guess.

Reading reports it seems that the malls have dried up in south and central Jakarta. It is the end of the holiday and was in Pacific place yesterday. Mall was not it's usual business.
