Maybe you should have used the "search" function in this forum. BTW, I "googled" hotel Travel.
When you come from Jl Hayam Wurk / Gajah Mada end driving on Jalan Mangga Besar with Lokasari shopping centre on left hand side always remember it is the second street back from the overhead railway bridge. Turn right into jl Mangga Besar No. 8. If you go past the overhead bridge you have gone too far.

I think he is talking about TC's but unfortunately for some ithas been closed for quite some time now.

It was raided by police and shut down for good. Either that or milles disco which is right beside it.

Can I respectfully ask two questions please (and yes I have RTFF extensively which is why I am finally resorting to asking).

I know the area that Hotel Travel is in but what is the address or how exactly do I get there.

Second question is whether that bizarre Saturday afternoon disco in the same area is still open these days? That was a bizarre place but I sort of liked it. Is that still running on Saturdays?

Many thanks for any help anyone can offer.

    Cheers.

In 15 years I've had my card cloned twice. I'm not going to say there is no risk but given thousands of transactions and two clonings I don't think the risk is unreasonably high. In both cloning instances I know exactly where they occurred, one was a Turkish restaurant and the other was a cigar bar in Plaza Senayan. Depending on where your card is issued your liability may be limited. In my case my maximum liability is $50 but in both cases the credit card company absorbed as it was obvious it was a fraudulent act. If you have an Indonesian credit card you may not be so lucky which is why I have a low credit limit on my Indonesia issued credit card.

It reduces the risk of someone stealing your card number, also you don't leave an electronic / paper trail that you've ever been at such a place.

In fact, if I know I'm going into a questionable area, sometimes I'll leave every credit card at home and just go out with cash; even if my wallet is stolen, I can always take a cab back to my hotel / apartment and get money from there to pay the taxi driver.
Hotel Classic, travel and most of the others do take credit card but it is risky as MS says. Last month I was forced to use my credit card as I had lost my Ozzy atm card and couldn't handle being in Jakarta with no cash to flash for some gash so used my credit card at HC & HT.

Or is it cash only for everything? I assumed the latter, but just occurred to me to ask. (Of course, I'll bring lots of cash for tips, etc.)

By the way, the rtff work I have already done, but anyway I will be quite a newbie then, when in jakarta.
Go to the "Classified Ads" section of the Indonesia board and click on the 'last' page, you'll easily find an ad by ISG member "Jakarta After Dark 2" which includes his website address.

Your other option would be to type the letter w three times then a period then the words jakarta after dark as one word then a period then the letters see o m and you'll find his website.

JAD2's services are highly recommended by me. Money well spent for any first time visitor such as yourself.

Recommendation - go "cash only" if possible!

I haven't been to a place that won't take credit card, Malioboro, Alexis, Beverly Hills, Maribaya to name a few. I'm sure there are a few downmarket places that are "cash only" but most if not all the upmarket with take plastic. Last weekend at Alexis and you have to love that they put the room / girl charge under "Red wine bottle" or something similar. Makes it easy for anyone on an expense account, then again you might not want to risk that your boss has been to this place and knows the name.

Sorry but not permitted to post tel or email addresses here. Go to the classified section to find his website and other information. Or better yet, pay Jackson the subscription fee so that you can get pm messages. Then I can pm you.

    Club 36

I agree with Smoothy that Club 36 is a bit of a waste of time. I showed up in January at around 3:30 am and it was basically as he said. But, there is no problem getting a table at that time time. I ended up sitting up on the balcony area that encircles most of the place. Good view but I would go elsewhere.

    Sun City spa

Tried out the Sun City spa. Got to hand it to them, they've got a nice-looking place. And I actually got a very good massage on the top of the, um, rest of it.

But they wouldn't do the line up. They said they only do the line up with the Chinese girls. Otherwise, you have to sort of just tell the mamasan.

What kind of girl you want, and you can only refuse three times. What the hell? I ask you, what the hell?

Is it the same in the Karoake, or do they do the line up? Is the cost and all that the same, too? Do you actually sing with the girls first or is it just that you've got that room to what you need to do?

They've got those long hallways. Fun to watch the girls escort the guys back into the lounge area afterward. The guys all kind of dazed and blissed out, the.

Girls almost maternal. Good people watching.
