I've probably posted about Kartika more than anyone else here on ISG ever since my first visit in August 2004. Still my all-time favorite spa in Jakarta, definitely miss it as well.

I last visited Kartika (twice) in 2018, and as best I can determine, it's now closed down and Berlian Spa (which used to be 3 doors up the same alley) has moved into the same physical space. Berlian should be able to provide a soapy nuru massage similar to Kartika, some of the girls did so back in 2004-08 when I lived in Jakarta. Other possibilities for nuru are Malioboro, or Sumo Shiatsu in Kelapa Gading (if it's still open), I'm sure there are other places as well.

One quirky story that I may have already told. In February 2005 I had a great two-girl session at Kartika with Cynthia (Sintia) and Sonia, notable because Sonia was one of the few Chinese girls working at any of the MPs in that neighborhood. She was taller than the other girls, had distinctive red hair, was 30 years old, and was one of the few girls at Kartika who spoke good English. I had several other sessions with Sonia through 2008 although by then her service level and enthusiasm had dropped off.

The girls at the Classics and KI's are younger and prettier, but they usually can't go with you to any travel adventure. Many times, they work this line because they owe a money debt to Ibu and their organization hangs on to their KTP so they can't leave town. Also, they usually work every day. This is why the freelancers at BATS or Tinder would be a better bet. More expensive and 5 years older. I've booked out of classic before. The amount of vouchers you have to pay will vary based on your negotiation skills, the time of day you book her out, the mamasan and the overall popularity of the lady.

If you want to take her out early in the evening expect to pay at least 6-8 vouchers. So 6 to 8 * 375. If after, say 10-11 pm, it should be about 5 vouchers. 5*375.

I would highly recommend you only book out ladies you know, have already fucked and have somewhat of a rapport with and are known good providers. The lady I booked was relatively new to the scene and seemed to really enjoy sex. And I had already fucked her on site in the room twice. I asked her if she was available to book out with me and she enthusiastically said yes. I made it clear before I booked her out I would be fucking her at least 5 times that evening. And if she was ok with that. And she delivered! At those prices, it's the only thing that makes sense. Unless, I guess, you just want a lady to go to dinner with and take on a date.

Came back to classic after 5 years. At about 8 pm. Tons of girls, not many guys which made the ratio fantastic. There are still gems to be found here and I was pleasantly surprised not knowing what to expect after Covid. The price has gone up now to 375 with a 40 K minimum spend. Went with 2 spinners separately after making sure they hadn't had babies of course service was great I was just lucky. BBBJ and the works. Will add more to my report later in the week.

I second with this option. People will need to try themselves and make their own choice, judgement.

The government have been trying to close this place multiple times but it still exist for obvious reason. Just closing RLD will not solve the problem.
As other people say, it is not suggestible for those who come to Jakarta for the first time. But this place is cheap and relatively good looking young girls, You might get short term for 120 k rupiahs or even less. If you ask taxi motor bike, Gojek Or Grab around that areas, most of them know exactly where this place is. Just be aware the area around Penjaringan is not considered safe.

I already reviewed Blitz in Kelapa Gading. Not recommended. Lots of way better places to go for similar price.

I know the sex outside of marriage law has been passed, but not implemented. I'm wondering if there is any news on when it might be implemented. I have a trip planned in April, and definitely don't want to risk spending a year in prison for a night at Classic. I know someone has to file a complaint about it, but it would be unnerving not knowing for sure.

In Indonesia you can end up in jail for any number of reasons. What you should keep in mind is that in Indonesia law enforcement is primarily a business. The public service component is some way down the list of priorities for many and so you may find yourself in trouble for crossing the street if your stars are unlucky. Your risk of being banged up for this kind of thing will increase around mealtimes.

OS would suggest to embrace the risk, cross the street, fart loudly in reception, enjoy yourself, be polite and be confident and follow the cues of the other 30 million people around you. If you were desirous of a less risk free approach, Cross the road only at afternoon tea time while your adversaries are sleeping.

Checked out the railway track scene night. For context, I'm a Westerner, long term Jakarta resident, first time slumdog.

I decided to arrive at 6 pm, allowing for some fading daylight and negating the risk of being caught in a raid.

It was certainly a unique cultural experience.

It was relatively quiet around this time, yet still plenty on offer. The dark alley runs for about 300 m and is fully enclosed. The stretches of dim purple lighting gave it somewhat of a theme parked haunted house feeling. It was quite good fun.

Chatting with the ladies, I gathered some more intel. Official start time for the ladies and cafes is 8 pm. Although they were able to scrounge around and find me a beer at 6 pm. 8 pm is also when the music kicks off. So if you also enjoy some peace and quiet, arrive before 8 pm.

The police raid which occurred recently was only to catch women without a KTP. Police now don't enter the alley and are paid off outside. Room time is 30 min, although you probably wouldn't want much longer than that given the state of the rooms. Apparently the women only see 4 to 5 Westerners per week. Although lots more from Taiwan, Singapore etc.

Regarding safety, I never felt in any danger. Like any place, being respectful to all and not obnoxiously drunk certainly helps. As does speaking Indonesian.

I would like to go back again around 11 pm to assess the scene from a different time of night.
