Fellow ISG members, I just had a SKYPE meeting with my HQ to determine our business activities for 2nd half of 2009, and I realized that I am scheduled to be in Jakarta in early September for about 10 days. On checking the calender I noted that it is in the middle of the Ramadan month. Now as we all know, that particular month is where the authorities are a bit more tough in enforcing the Law on adult entertainment, more so with the new Law.

My question to members is :

(1) Given the bad timing can I still get some entertainment in places such as Lokasari and Blok M areas?

(2) What about "happy ending" places such as Berlian and Kartika?


Normally I will try to avoid Ramadan in Indonesia but my HQ has scheduled this particular trip around that time.....so I have to make the best of it.

Hope for some pointers for fellow ISG members.

What are the exact dates of your Sept. visit to Jakarta? I hope your visit is scheduled for before September 12th.

Ramadan is scheduled for August 21 - September 19, 2009 and the "Eid" festival (known as Lebaran in Jakarta) will take place on Sept. 20 and the next few days after that.

As a result, most of the free-standing MPs such as Berlian, Kartika and Maribaya Spa (6th floor of Hotel Melawai) will close around August 18 or 19 and remain closed until after Lebaran, to re-open on or after Sept 25. I believe that "Today Country" in Lokasari Plaza is also closed during that 5 week period - the bonus here is that when TC does re-open, it will feature several fresh young lovelies who have moved from home to the big city to seek their fortunes.

Some MPs that are located inside hotels, such as Hotel Malioboro, Hotel Travel and Alexis Hotel, should remain open through most of Ramadan.

Most of the girls who work in the free-standing spas (such as Kartika) will travel to their home "kampung" (village) for the entire Ramadan/Lebaran period, although typically some of the Maribaya Spa girls work out of rooms at Hotel Melawai for the first three weeks of Ramadan (please read my old posts from 2006 and 2007 on this topic).

Usually some of the bars at Jalan Falatehan in blok M remain open during Ramadan but things are definitely more low-key and low-profile.

Towards the last week of Ramadan (Sept 12-19), many of the places that had remained open may shut down as people pack up and travel to their home villages to celebrate Lebaran there. Over 2 million Jakarta residents leave town every year for a week at Lebaran, the only time all year when the traffic is light

It really does pay the read the threads a bit. I don't quite get what the tip for the towel girl was. Was it 300k-250k-Coke (20k?)=30k? Nothing too bad. However, if you gave her 250k, then yeah, that's going to set a bad example.

on 03-03-09 was my first post about my first trip to indonesia. bali and first time 2003. here is part 2, jakarta. enjoy.

as we came out of the arrivals area, our driver was there waiting. he quickly grabbed our luggage and we headed out of the airport. the car, an e-class mercedes, was right out front. paid the local a few rupiah for watchin’ the car and we were off. the ‘big durian’ is definitely a smelly, smog filled bustling metropolis that has the dirt poor living right along side the ultra rich. well, my mate’s father is high up on the food chain. the ‘mansion’ provided to this diplomat was both huge and opulent.

i spent a couple of days getting to know mom and dad. mom took me to sights around jakarta like where to get the best batik clothing at the best price and factory outlets where calvin klein, reebok, tommy hilfiger clothes sat on pallets with their american price tags of $80-$120 but were for sale there for $5-$10. dad had to take me where ‘all’ the diplomats get their fake rolexes, etc. (6 years on and they both still work)

finally the parents had to go to singapore for a week and we had the place to ourselves. (besides the maids, butlers, cooks and drivers) we went to bloc m, a nightclub area, to check out the scene. drinks were cheap so i had a few while watching the action. there are not many caucasians in jakarta so we stood out like easy marks. this tiny longhaired beauty comes over, sits beside me and says hi. i offer to buy her a drink and she flags the waitress and her shorthaired young friend over to our table. I stayed at the Olympic last week, but never managed to check out any of the girls there.

If you pay more than 350k plus tip, at any of the places in this neighborhood, then you probably got took. Hotel Travel, TC, Bintang Mawar are all under 300k.

It is called Olympic (Oasis spa is on the street opposite the street entrance to the Lokasari plaza area). In Olympic they also had PRC girls available at the spa area while on the other side, at the Karaoke area of the hotel, they had Vietnamese girsl.
