I go to Jakarta for work once or twice a year before pandemic, and about to have another one in 3-wks for almost 2-mo stay.

In fact, most young Indonesian women would be happy with $300 a night, considering that that is more than the average monthly salary for most office and factory workers. Even less than that would be welcome - I'm sure the chance to sleep in a nice bed in a 5-star hotel with a nice bathroom for the night could be had for much less than $300.

If you are going to KG for the first time, start with the Kings Cross Bar.
If you plan to return late at night (after 1 am) finding a Taxi on the street is hit and miss. Compared to the Mangga Besar area, KG is remote.

Oh I might actually have some helpful information in this case.

When you come out of King Cross and you're facing Jl. Boulevard Bukit Gading Raya, turn left and start walking about 120 meters on that same Jl. to the short bridge that crosses over the flood river. On the other side of the flood river, which is also Jl. Boulevard Bukit Gading Raya, there's always one or two Bluebirds parked there ready to go. It seems to be the unspoken stopping point for picking up and taking home the late night horndogs in KG. Wkwkwk.

Either that, or keep your My Bluebird app handy. It's usually no longer than 7 minutes before a nearby Bluebird will show up. There are far too many malls nearby for this area to be depleted of waiting Bluebirds.

I very very often do, but I can't bite my tongue this time. That's not overpaying, that's just a mental illness. Nobody on earth needs to be given a month's wages for a portion of a single day. Another topic. I recently went to Malio hotel twice. The upper floor is not open late and that's why I had two completely different experiences. The top floor is a bar with a live band and Mama's with lineups. If you pick on the low end of the range offered, it is 1. 2 million or so if I recall. It was worth every penny, but maybe just as a one time thrill. My first time in the city. The mama saw my friend is a real sucker, the type who'd pay $300.
