this is a place about 10-15km west of the centre of town which is basically the same as dolly, price, nature of venues etc but more spread out over two or three streets, called gang sememi 1 2 and 3. or maybe it is gang seneni. i however haven't used this place, i just went to check it out and was disappointed by the quality of girls and it is so far away from where i live that i didn't bother to take a second look, i just went back to dolly every time after that. but i was also disappointed the first time i went to dolly, then ended up having some very good times there. take a road called jalan raya tandes, follow it west for ages, the name of the road will change two or three times before it becomes jalan moroseneng. eventually you will reach a place that has a tiny bit of development about it unlike the endless shacks before it. you will see a large glitzy dangdut (the local music style) karaoke style venue on the right with neon lights. that's basically where the entrances to gang sememi 1 2 and 3 are, also on your right. moroseneng is difficult to pronounce properly so write it down and show it to a taxi driver.

3) spas / massage.

the general deal here is you pay around 250-300k and you get a whole day in a spa with sauna, steam room, hot and cold pool, jacuzzi, lounge, all you can eat buffet and a massage with a handjob to finish. amazing value. great places to spend all day hungover and with some truly stunning chicks. however, not all of them will do extras, and some will try to charge a fortune for it. if you go regularly, you should find girls who will let you fuck them for 500k, and they will be worth it in terms of their looks alone. two out of the five times i've been to these places i've been jerked off by some of the hottest girls i've ever seen. when you sit in the lounge you will be approached by the woman or mamasan (not as scary and crazy as a typical mamasan) , you can always inquire about full service just in case they won't give it. one girl was so hot and i was a little disappointed that she wouldn't do anything but the hand job, and she wanted 500k just to get her top off and let me fondle her tits. but she wasn't rude. i think she just decided that she doesn't want any random guy to fuck her and she earns enough without so who can blame her. although disappointed, i just had a look at myself (and at her again) and thought, fuck it, this is one of the most beautiful girls i ever saw and she's jerkin me off and for the spa alone it would cost me double or more back in the states and that's without a happy ending. anyway, there are loads of these places, but i have only been to two, one is called glamour which in near tunjungan plaza on jalan tunjungan, and the other is called atmosphere, at ruko golden palace, jalan h. r. muhammed. there are two others that are supposed to be very good near glamour, one called symphony and one called cosmo. and then there are loads more so i've heard. but those 4 should keep you busy for ages anyway. you will be given a menu when you go in. it doesn't mention sexual services on the menu of course, but if you pay a bit more you can get a room with a jacuzzi, or a room with two therapists, or a bit longer in the room. some places you can have two girls for 2 hours with jacuzzi and karaoke for about 700k, which i should include hand jobs, but bear in mind prices for extra services will vary depending on the girl.

4) freelancers.

there are a few places to go clubbing and meet girls, but prices will vary depending on how desperate the girl is, how late it is and whether or not she thinks she might not get another chance for another customer who'll pay more, but you're looking at anywhere between 300k and 1mil. as they are freelancers i can't give you any more info than that. some might fancy you and stay all night, some might not even want money if they think they might get a husband out of it. if you live here you can normally start a little relationship with two or three of these girls at once if you are clever, but most won't fuck on the first night, you'll have to take them to a fucking mall or some bullshit a couple of times first. but if you are just visiting they'll probably want cash, in which case i personally wouldn't bother as, unlike everything else in surabaya, nightclubs are fucking expensive. 250ml of beer is between 5 and 10 bucks, most places charge a similar price to get in, and a bottle of spirits will cost you close to a million. if you are still determined to throw your money away, try desperados (full of old white guys with lots of money and young chicks on their arm) in the basement of the shangri la hotel on jalan mayjend sungkono or colors nightclub on jalan sumatera. also coyote club in tunjungan plaza (entrance on floor 7 or 8 i think in the car park) sometimes has dancers and insanely hot little minxes in very little clothing trying to get you to buy lady drinks, but this place is reeeeeaaally expensive. they have karaoke fishbowl things upstairs too, but i normally have too many girls in my inbox who are free of charge to tempt me into throwing half my salary away in a place like this. if you have the money though, like about 3 million for one night, you can probably buy a bottle of whisky and a girl to take to your hotel, but don't count on it as i'm not sure how it all works.

5) lower end massage places and dangdut bars.

dangdut bars are rep001tered all over the city. dangdut is the name of the traditional indo music. they usually have fishbowls where you can pay for a lady's company for 40k an hour, but you have to pay for a minimum of 6 hours. i've never bothered as that doesn't include any extra services. you probably can buy these girls for the night, but for half the initial charge you can have two girls in dolly so why bother? some of these bars however have sexy dancers, take a load of small bills (1000s and 2000s) with you and you'll get a girl in underwear grinding on you and sticking her tits in your face, you can get a handful of her ass and stick the bills in her panties. beer in these places is usually only 30k for a big bottle, like 660ml. i have yet to try the other massage places but you will find them in darmo park, just off jalan mayjend sungkon near the shangri la. ask a taxi driver or just get dropped off at a bar called lido and have a beer in relatively western style surroundings before having a wander around the 4 or 5 blocks in the complex looking for them. apparently you can get full service for under 300k with a room onsite. but they mostly close at a about 9pm so get there early.

6) tretes.

quick note. indonesian is a phonetic language, it rarely has stupid pronunciation like english. every time you see an 'i' it is pronounced 'ee' like the word 'feet'. 'see' is always 'ch' like in 'check'. 'you' is always 'oo' like 'food'. 'j' is always like the 'g' in 'germany' and 'g' is always like the 'g' in 'golf'

remember this one: 'e' is almost always like a little 'uh' sound. like the 'e' in 'wallet'. if there is a 'h' after a vowel it makes the vowel sound long.

here are some phrases to help you in dolly as an example:

berapa? how much?

seratus (one hundred) ribuh (thousand) 100000.

1, 2.3, 4.5, 6.7, 8.9, 10 satu, dua, tiga, empat (sounds like 'mpa') lima, enam, tujuh, delapan, sembilan, sepuluh.

20 duapuluh. 30 tigapuluh. 40 empatpuluh etc.

ratus = hundred 100=seratus 200=duaratus 300=tigaratus.

ribuh = thousand 1000=seribuh 2000=duaribuh 3000=tigaribuh.

juta = million. 1mil=sejuta. 2mil =dua juta you get the idea.

so, seratus enampuluh ribuh is 160000. they might sometimes just say seratus enampuluh, and not mention the ribuh, as you can't buy anything for 160 rupiah so it's pretty obvious they mean 160000.

ada. "have" delightfully simple. it can also mean "have you got" in one little word. ada bir = have you got a beer? if they reply 'ada" it meanns, yes, we have got.

iya = yes, tidak = no, 'ga' also means no. if they don'w have something they might say "ga ada".
