Hi, thanks for your report on Manado. I will be travelling to Manado soon, could you give an update about the scene in Manado? Are there any escort services in the area?

For some of them I don't know how old the information is IE if they still are in business or not. Other places exist.

This is not a sex paradise. Quality of women is highly overrated but rich Javanese kids throw money around since booze is easy to get and many girls have a whiter complexion than Javanese chicks.

    Yogyakarta

Stayed at Meliá Purosani. Very nice hotel and one minute walking distance to Malioboro street. Took a walk the first day but did not see any obvious street walkers. Lots of girls. But hard to know who is in the game. Seems like whole of Yogyakarta are there in the evening. Street food is tasty. Lots of varieties. But mongerwise I guess nothing is happening. Did not try any massage places but had a street leg massage for three dollars.

Went on a whole day private tour of Borobudur and Prambanan temple. Can see Mt. Merapi. It seems there was a minor eruption and earth quake. I must have slept through it.

Borobudur is certainly one of the wonders of the world. Now they allow to climb to the top with a guide max per day of 500. Since this was a slow season I did not have any problem getting a ticket. They group max 15 at a time with English speaking guide. I have to warn this climbing is not for the faint of heart. You should be in excellent condition without real health issues. Hot as hell to boot. There is no shade or place to rest. Site opens 5 am. Must be cooler at that time slightly. I went around 11 am. Certainly had my cardiac efficiency test done. Good for mongering as well.

Prambanan temple is okay. Nothing spectacular. Have seen many like that in other places. My tour guide is an excellent guy. Came back really tired and took a nap.

Went again in the evening to Malioboro street. This time there were couple of touts discretely asking if I want a girl. Being not sure if it is a trap I did not show interest. There were certainly many local pretty girls walking in groups. Many smile but I doubt if it is anything other than friendly smile.

At least to see Borobudur is off my bucket list. Definitely worth it.

I have lived here for ten years now, The south has very few opportunities for mongering, Senggigi has many more in the form of spas and Karaoke. In the south, in Kuta you can brave the Surfers bar where soem guys will appear with girls late at night. It is however a potentially hazardous time to be out whit local drunk lads whit often something to prove. Its definitely more a bring your own, vibe in the south. Things are slowly changing with the influx of money and more tourism. But traditional values, mean even Jakarta or Bali level antics are frowned upon. They ran a local karaoke shack out of business which was set up fro the construction workers from Java who were building the track.

    Hi,

Is there any action in Yogyakarta? Making plans to go there. Since it is a tourist town there must be something. Thanks.

It'll cost you a bit and you'll have to arrange the wedding with an obliging imam and the girl's family but then you're free to enjoy your holiday without fear of eternal perdition, although your wife for the week is liable to look like someone's pembantu.

If the afterlife isn't really a big issue for you, just bring your own girl along, I dare say the average Jakarta cewek would enjoy a weekend in the cooling breezes of the mountains of West Java. But for my money if you're in Jakarta, just stay there, you'll get all the fun you need without the expense and hellish four-hour drive up narrow mountain roads to a dowdy "villa" in Puncak.
Puncak may soon lose its appeal, if the link provided by Possessed Seoul is correct.

    Thanks for the reply.

You've made it sound so appealing. Now I'm not sure that I want to find such a place when I next visit.

That raised a smile, I remember many years ago picking up a young lady in my car in the wee hours of the morning. I had a car, no need for a hotel room, all I needed was a quiet place to park and at 2 o'clock in a Tuesday morning, that wouldn't be hard, right? Well I drove around in ever-increasing frustration trying to find somewhere to stop at that didn't have a couple of pairs of prying eyes watching me. Whether it be a satpam at his post, resting Bluebird taxi drivers having a smoke on the sidewalk, vegetable vendors (only in Indonesia do people buy veggies at two in the morning) or pecel lele warungs, there was nowhere that wasn't within 10 meters of someone who had nothing better to do than stare at me.

Eventually the exasperated girl asked me what on earth I was doing and I explained I wanted to find somewhere with no people. She impatiently told me just to give her Rp 50 k and to pull over, she rolled down the window and hailed a passing coffee seller on his bike, called "Starbikes", Starbikes, geddit? She handed him the cash and told him to keep an eye out at a discreet distance and give us a shout if a copper showed up. He obligingly did so and we got on with our business in the back seat.

If privacy is your thing, Indonesia is not the place to be.

Are these warungs isolated or are there other stores or homes nearby?

Have you been on the road since then, and encountered any more of these establishments?

You could safely go in any direction from Jakarta except North and you will stumble on similar. Just use the magic words " Ada tempat cewek deket sini?

OS started to put two and two together and realised that if the warung has rooms out the back of the hanging coffee satchets. Then it was a good chance to have ceweks.

It was a rather productive trip in terms of broadening OS's understanding of how our craft gets plied in rural Java.

If you know Bahasa, which is the local language there, or you are with someone who does, you can try to ask the security guards of the hotels / motels that you are staying in the area. More likely than not, they know someone who knows someone who can bring you someone. My Indonesian friends used to do it that way. However, YMMV.
